Each year, this scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from Upper St. Clair High School who plans to pursue theatre or performing arts in college.

<div>It is with shattered hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Kayla Castro, who was taken from us far too soon on 01/10/2026. Kayla was many things—a sister, a daughter, a friend—but above all, she was a fierce and loving mother to Mila and Brantley.

<div>Because her passing was so sudden and tragic, she did not have life insurance or a financial plan for the future yet as she just started a new career last month and wasn't eligible for her benefits yet. As her community, we want to ensure that her children are taken care of as they face a future without their mom.

Honoring Kayla Castro and Supporting Her Children

Tommie DeSantis is a 5 year old little girl whose energy, sweetness, and silliness bring joy and light to everyone she meets.  On December 9th, 2018, her family's world was shattered.  She was diagnosed with High Risk Neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of pediatric cancer.  <br /><br />There is no question in our minds that Tommie is tough and she will beat this with a vengeance.  <br /><br />For almost a year now, Tommie and her family have endured what no family should ever endure.  They made a decision early on in treatment for most of her care to take place and be managed by the world renowned oncologists and surgeons at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC, who have truly given this family so much to be thankful for.   So far Tommie has kicked butt through 7 rounds of chemotherapy (split between Pittsburgh and NYC), 2 long and grueling surgeries and recovery periods, and a lot of medical trials and tribulations a long the way.  Displacing their family to and from NYC has been difficult and financially stressful, so we continue to promote this page for the DeSantis family to allow them to focus on what's most important at this time--supporting Tommie and being together as a family, not having to worry about anything else.  <br /><br />Tommie will continue to fight and beat this monster with the resilience and strength of her 5 year old little self, but they also need the love and support of their community to win this fight with ease.  She is about to start her next phase of treatment which consists of one round of radiation and multiple rounds of antibody therapy—all to take place at MSK and  over the next several months.<br /><br />Keep the love and prayers coming for Tommie and her family, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!  Now lets beat this thing!<br /><br />#TommieTough

My hope is that once we can reach a substantial goal amount that we can share the page with the family and make them aware of how much support and love they have among family and friends.<br /><br />As many of you know, Mrs. Weiland has been bravely fighting cancer for many years. As her condition has continued to worsen in recent weeks, she has expressed concern about the family's ability to keep up with utilities and other expenses after her passing. <br /><br />Mama Weiland has done everything in her power to ensure her family's comfort. She has beared the burden of paying for her own arrangements, she has settled any existing debts, she has paid for schooling for her three children.  She has truly been a rock for her family during her own time of suffering.  Even with all of her commendable efforts, it is inevitable that life remains expensive. My goal through this campaign is to cover at least one month of bills and house/vehicle payments so that the family may grieve in peace when the time comes. Ideally, with your help, we will reach this goal while Mrs. Weiland is still with us so that she may have some peace as well.  Any size donation will be appreciated more than I can describe.
