More recently, he experienced a serious medical crisis that resulted in a multi-day stay in the ICU and nearly two weeks in the hospital.

 He is now facing an extended period of recovery and will likely need another 2–3 weeks in a skilled nursing facility before he is able to return home.

 I’m Dandi’s queerplatonic partner and best friend, and I’m raising money to help him through the transition from graduate school into his first post-MSW job.

 Dandi recently completed his Master of Social Work after years of school, internship, crisis work, administrative demands, and the unpaid work of caring for people and building community. He is now looking for sustainable work in this new field while recovering from that exhaustion. As a GNC trans man who is superfat and disabled, he is also navigating ongoing barriers and the need for gender-affirming care.

<div>Paulé Wood is a beloved community leader, lifelong activist, and tireless mentor–who has been living without housing since June 2025. Paulé is 58 and facing rapidly worsening health challenges that have robbed them of the ability to work or to safely maintain the life they built for decades of service to others. We are raising funds to secure immediate housing stability, cover medical and living expenses, and bridge the gap while their disability claim is processed.

<div>Paulé has been actively organizing, teaching, and building mutual aid networks since the 1980s. They’ve spent over 40 years volunteering, advising, and leading projects that have helped make our cities safer and more sustainable. Even now, without a home, Paulé continues to give lectures, mentor younger organizers, and share vital (urban &amp; nature) survival skills with the upcoming generation. Their work has shaped movements, challenged systemic injustice, and quite literally saved lives.

They are losing vision from multiple serious eye conditions and are coping with chronic, debilitating neck and spinal injuries that cause constant pain and weakness. Easing Jacqui's Move to a Home of Her Own

In the span of just one week, three out of the four people I live with lost their jobs. It was a sudden and overwhelming change for our household, and I’ve done everything I can to help keep us afloat. I used up what savings I had to cover our basic needs, but now we’re at a point where we simply can’t make it much longer without some help. The stress of not knowing how we’ll pay for rent, utilities, and groceries has been weighing heavily on all of us.

 I was fortunate to recently find a new job, but the hours have been slow to start and my first paycheck won’t arrive before our rent is due. All three of us are doing our utmost to do our part and due diligence—we’re all filing for unemployment, but because of bureaucracy, that support isn’t going to be available for some time. I’ve also lined up gallery space to sell art and other valuables, but the wait-list is extensive, and the quick sale items I could try and move got damaged recently, so their resale value is diminished. We’re doing everything we can to bridge the gap, but right now, we need a little help to get through.

<div>Temporary housing is required during the transition period so the live-in caregiver can remain stably housed while we prepare the apartment, coordinate discharge logistics, and ensure a safe and supported move-in process. This helps prevent a rushed or destabilizing discharge and supports continuity of care.

Marylyn Motherbear’s Transition Back to Independent Living

Danelle and I first met in 2003, during our first year of recovery together in an Oxford house. Over the years, we’ve built a strong friendship rooted in mutual support and understanding. Danelle has always been there for others in our recovery community, offering encouragement and kindness to anyone who needs it.

 Right now, Danelle is facing a challenging time. She needs to have a thyroidectomy and will be out of work for four to five weeks while she recovers. As a small business owner and the sole breadwinner of her household, this unexpected medical situation puts her in a tough spot financially. Without her regular income, covering basic expenses like rent, food, and car payments will be difficult.

I don't regret it for an instant; however, we have run out of our already depleted savings. (I had been financially supporting a now former housemate through an attempted suicide with a promise of repayment, only to be left with egg on my face.)

<div>Hello, I’m writing this on behalf of my dear friends Mama Amma (aka Amma) and D. In the last year Amma has survived the rigors of chemo for treatment of stage four lymphoma. During this time she also made it through two bouts of covid, leaving her with a long covid diagnosis. Last month she was admitted to the hospital for three weeks, this was her 7th hospitalization since her lymphoma diagnosis. The hardware in her right knee had broken down, causing an infection that led to kidney failure. She is now waiting for revision knee replacement in her right knee and total knee replacement in her left. The intensity of stage four chemo led to the crumbling of her teeth which requires surgery. The oral surgery must happen first to ensure that it's safe to intubate Amma for knee surgery. Throughout everything she has showed up and been an amazing parent to 9-year-old D. Amma is a deeply loving and kind soul and to say that she is a friend to all is an understatement.

<div>Amma worked hard to make sure that she and D wouldn’t lose their housing while she underwent treatment. There came a time when her body and critical thinking skills were no longer able to sustain her position. During this time she ran out of personal means to support herself and was able to utilize every possible resource and service available which kept her and D housed and fed. Amma is reaching a critical point as fewer resources are available to her now as the time limits and funding caps through various social services are being reached.

<div><strong>We are three Portland-based Palestinians - Mohammed, Mahmoud, and Zandi —urgently gathering community support for our families who are enduring dire conditions in Gaza.</strong> Currently, our family members face displacement, destroyed homes, and the fatal reality of living under constant bombardment and unimaginable violence, with no safe haven for over 3 months. The escalating dangers and amounting medical needs left our families with no choice but to leave for Egypt. However, in Egypt they face restricted movement, no ability to return home, no work permits, and no access to official financial aid. The decision to leave their homes and extended families was extremely difficult, as their hearts remain in Gaza.

<div>Through our collective efforts, we successfully evacuated Mohammed’s immediate family members to Egypt. We hope that Mahmoud and Zandi’s families will soon follow. <div>A few days ago, Mohammed’s immediate family were able to make the dangerous journey into Egypt.  At the beginning of December, Mohammed’s family became internally displaced in Gaza after multiple days of bombing in their neighborhood followed by leaflets from the Israeli Occupation Forces ordering them to leave or face death. They fled to a makeshift shelter made out of curtains and curtain rods near the Gaza/Egyptian border with no access to basic needs such as beds, bathrooms, and hygiene products. This is the second displacement Mohammed’s family has experienced, the first occurred during The Nakba (The Catastrophe), when they were forced out of their homes in Yaffa and Ramla in 1948. At this moment, it is unclear if Mohammed’s family home still exists since it is still too dangerous to return. Mohammed’s family includes 11 people- his father, his wife, five siblings, their partners and their children (Mohammed's nieces and nephews, including Nama who is only 6 months old). Mohammed’s family members have multiple medical conditions and their medications run out at the end of December.  <strong>We need immediate support for their access to shelter, food, immediate medical care and daily expenses in an unfamiliar country. </strong>

<div>Mahmoud’s immediate family of 21 people include his father, older brother and wife with two children, a younger brother, and three sisters with their respective families. During the second week of the assault in Gaza, Mahmoud’s family was displaced from their homes which were destroyed by Israeli airstrikes. The life and memories that his family built and created were destroyed in an instant. His family has lost everything. They were left with no shelter, and just the clothes on their back. Mahmoud’s dad and four of his nephews and nieces were sheltering in the city of Khan Yonis when they were impacted by the insidious inhalation of white phosphorus, causing severe symptoms and unbearable breathing difficulties. <strong>Currently, they are in critical condition and in need of urgent medical care upon entering Egypt.</strong>

<div>Zandi’s 10 relatives: her aunt, two cousins, their wives, and children were forced to flee due to fatal Israeli air strikes on the Jabalia Refugee Camp in Northern Gaza. There, they lost their father, four siblings and their children, amounting to 19 family members martyred. They have no homes or belongings to return to. In 1967, Zandi’s father along with his mother and four siblings were forced to flee Gaza due to the Six Day War. Like many Palestinians in exile, the current violence in Gaza has resurfaced the reality and violence of 75 years of occupation. Zandi is a first generation Palestinian American and grew up in Portland, OR. Due to the ongoing Israeli occupation and 15 year siege on Gaza, Zandi never had the opportunity to visit and see her homeland, nor the chance to meet her dear relatives. <strong>Her remaining relatives are in Rafah attempting to shelter in unlivable conditions. </strong>

<div>Due to the lack of formal support systems for displaced Palestinians, these funds will be used to support all survival needs of our 42 family members. The conservative estimate needed for each person is over $10,000. These include basic needs, housing, legal fees, visa applications, relocation support, travel costs, and medical support. The funds will have daily and long term impacts on our families’ lives. This comprehensive assistance ensures not just survival, but the opportunity for individuals to rebuild their lives with dignity and security.

<div> Years ago, I took a punch to the lower jaw as part of an attempted gay bashing. I will always remember the sound of my teeth breaking. My dentist at the time told me to wait for the teeth to die and then get them replaced all at once.  He said it could take a year, it could take ten.

<span style="color:rgb(51,51,51);">Our</span> friend Luxe, aka MzFur, has been struggling with new disabilities and trying to keep their housing and basic needs met while living in the bay area. Unbeknownst to them, after 7 years, the loan has a balloon payment of $4000! Luxe needs this by the October 23rd, or they will lose their vehicle and the 40k they have put into it.

Luxe is trying to manage multiple physical issues including intense nerve pain that doctors say may lead to another surgery in the near future. They are open to any options including short term loans or payment arrangements that fit within their fixed income.

<div>Hey y'all. I was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer on September 29, 2021. I start 6 weeks of Chemo Radiation treatments on November 4th. Shortly thereafter I will be having an esophagectomy. Which is a really intense surgery with a fairly long recovery time. Some of my doctors think that I will be able to work some throughout my treatments. Other doctors and esophageal cancer survivers say I'm not gonna want to or be able to work at all. As of right now, I do not know how much my insurance is going to cover. This news was not the easiest thing to hear and balancing work, emotions, self care, and asking for help has been a real challenge. As of right now I really don't know how much I'm gonna need to get through this. I do know that the doctor estimated around $80,000 for the whole treatment plan and I'll be mostly out of work until Spring of 2021. Good news is that Esophageal Cancer is on the list of automatically approved disabilities, so I've got that paperwork in the works as well but I'm told it will take months to take effect. Right now I'm just asking for enough to cover some of my lost wages and help with my copay on some bills.

Dallas Cancer Fund

Piwacket is in need of support funds for a sudden and unanticipated move. They live in rural Southern Oregon where they have been for the most part unemployed for the past year without any support from the state. They are without a car, and work occasional catering gigs. They are hoping to move in with supportive friends in an area where they will have more access to reliable public transportation and potential jobs. Piwacket is moving with a sense of understandable urgency, but needs to secure several months of rent and utilities, as well as moving costs, to successfully mobilize to a new location. Without unemployment checks, regular work, or adequate notice, Piwacket does not currently have the funds set aside to do this on their own.<br /><br />Anyone who knows Piwacket knows that Piwacket pours themself into service for community through organizing and community leadership, queer performance art and drag, and feeding countless people with their nourishing, heart warming, and belly comforting food. Piwacket has been integral to fostering queer community spaces in Southern Oregon and beyond. It is a pertinent and opportune time to give back to this absolute gem. Piwacket has been in recovery for the past several years. A little assistance to help out during this challenging transition to secure them a new safe living situation where they can continue that work and healing can make a world of difference. support for Piwacket, Extraordinaire!!

On February 21, 2019, Anjanette Young was alone in her home, undressed after having just returned from her job as a social worker. Chicago police wrongfully entered her apartment with a battering ram and their guns drawn and handcuffed her-- completely naked, terrified, and confused about what was going on. They were acting on a tip from a confidential informant, and searching for a 23-year-old man wearing an electronic ankle bracelet. But they were in the wrong place, as Ms. Young informed them 43 times, speaking through tears and fearing for her life. <br /><br />Now, Ms. Young is facing a legal battle, as the City of Chicago tried to block her from releasing the body cam video that shows what happened that night. At the same time, she is leaning on her communities for support to heal the trauma of that devastating night. <br /><br />Ms. Young wishes to donate the funds raised here to Progressive Baptist Church and their Social Justice Ministry, which provides legal assistance and support to Chicagoans facing situations similar to her own. Being a 100% disabled US Air Force Veteran, it was impossible to keep that going.<br /><br />On day 50 I officially started taking donations and from day 50-67 I have (with the GREAT help) have donated over 7k+ more in free water, donuts, pizza, etc etc to the Portland communities and peacefull protestors in 17 days.<br /><br />Last week I even brought something out called an Umbrellacrosse Stick to protest my brothers and sisters thats been seen even in the Washington Post now<br /><br />I would like to create a MOBILE Hydration Station for the greater Portland, Seattle, PNW region for continued BLM support. Hello friends.  I received the unfortunate news that I need a full abdominal robotic surgery on my chest and the recovery will be lengthy. Apparently I may have a genetic condition where my abs are not connected by muscle so the mid-line will continue to tear without this surgery. This is sad news especially since I was just feeling myself again after last winters surprise emergency surgery.<br /><br />I have applied for disability but that process has slowed with the vial shut downs. My surgery costs will likely be covered but I need help paying my rent and bills in the interim.<span style="font-size:1.0625rem;"> I have an abdominal tear that is causing me a lot of pain and limiting my ability to do minor tasks. I was told if it gets worse before a day is set I should head to the ER for a possible interim </span>emergency<span style="font-size:1.0625rem;"> surgery.<br /><br /></span>*(integrating update as of April for new folks)<br />After a couple visits to the ER, and 10 days of debilitating pain beyond what I thought was the worst, I found out I have a four inch fibroid. This would normally be painful, but it is unfortunately complicating my abdominal condition and giving me paralyzing back pain. Now no surgeries are being done as hospitals are low on supplies and a simple operation is life threatening.<br /><br />In positives, I am almost done with my final semester at Berkeley City College, and will be leaving with an AA in Mobile &amp; Web Design. I've been admitted to Cal State to complete a BFA in Interaction Design and my first year's tuition is covered by grants.  I've also started a porch vegetable garden which helps me get sun and destress.<br /><br />Now the time has come when I desperately need money to pay for essentials. I have been surviving on my student grants and the $336 I receive in General Assistance while I wait for my disability to approved.  My grants have run out and I can not trust I will receive the stimulus check.<br /><br />Bay Area locals, I'm looking for a part-time care assistant! <p>#BlackLivesMatter #WeDoHeal<br /><br />In the wake of George Floyd's murder is a long, painful month that’s an extension of a year that’s challenged us to our core.<br /><br />We need healing. We need justice. And that requires action.<br /><br />Systemic change requires prolonged effort, but we can also make an immediate difference for frontline communities. <br /><br />The Black Resilience Fund was launched on June 1st, 2020 to foster healing and resilience by providing immediate financial relief to Black Portlanders. Over $700,000 has been distributed to Black Portlanders since our launch, and we've also established a mutual aid network of over 300 active volunteers, delivering food boxes, performing yard work, providing emotional support, and more.<br /><br />The Black Resilience Fund is co-founded by Cameron Whitten and Salomé Chimuku. Cameron is a local Portlander who has more than 5 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and donation accountability. Cameron has served as the Executive Director of local nonprofits such as Know Your City, Brown Hope, and Q Center. Salomé has over a decade of experience in public sector work, working with organizations such as Portland State University, the Urban League of Portland, and Unite Oregon. She has served on many local social justice and advocacy boards and has worked for many statewide elected officials in the Oregon Legislature. <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/48455998_1593566731471029_r.jpeg" alt="48455998_1593566731471029_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br />We’re proud of everything the BRF team has accomplished with 100% volunteer energy. The Black Resilience Fund

A strong woman, bold and full of spirit, left the natural world she blessed with many gifts of love and respect.  She didn't live a life that many would consider a normal life by any means. Instead, she rose above a life of monotony,  working for first world luxuries and comforts, and complying with the confines of society. She chose the path which she trailblazed that took a lot of hard work, conviction, patience and many trying times. <br /><br />Her focus being the sole belief: it is our duty as humans, who were given dominion over the life and earth of this planet, to maintain the natural world and give back what we take.<br /><br />Fin was misunderstood by some, and loved by many. What people didn't understand is that she wasn't trying to divide herself from others-she was trying to help us truly live and give life in return.  She was blunt, but she was honest. That honesty is a rare gem to find and was priceless to those who did understand and love her.<br /><br />She taught many of us how to find ourselves...find life. Her pure soul understood the life that is in the ground beneath us, the trees and plants among us and the animals around us. While many of us feel lost in this moment of sadness, we must remember her trails, continue to seed the earth in her remembrance and honor her life's work. <br /><br />What we are asking for is funds for her cremation. Myself and the rest of her family want to do what's right for her in her eyes.  Funds are low and we're pulling it together the best we can. Our goal is to work closely with the people in the hoop that she tended to and celebrate her life by returning her to the earth, which in turn continues her life through death. As a QTPOC creature living in the world, most especially in a secluded rural town in southern Oregon, it’s hard to be mobile without identity documents (Naturalization documents, Oregon license) and moneys to get its car up and running (registration/insurance/ necessary repairs). So... crowdsourcing it is! <br />Aleph is a disabled veteran who is healing from a traumatic past few years by living in nature with close friends, but needs OUR help for the next steps in moving forward! In a world where QTPOC folks experience heightened levels of disenfranchisement through racism, homophobia, transphobia, classism, and ableism (to name a few), it’s hard to know where to start supporting them. Luckily, we have a way for you to help change this dear one’s life for the better!
