Hi everyone, I am reaching out to my community because I’ve hit a point where I simply cannot do this alone anymore. My daily life is a massive balancing act. I am the full-time caregiver for my wonderful 80-year-old mother, ensuring she is safe, cared for, and able to get to her medical appointments. To support us, I work part-time night shifts at an Amazon fulfillment center. At home, we also manage a small homestead with a garden, chickens, and other animals that depend on us every single day. On top of the physical toll of caregiving and warehouse work, I manage a daily battle with Seropositive Rheumatoid Arthritis, which causes constant chronic pain and fatigue. Despite the challenges, I always push through and keep moving forward. But recently, the only working vehicle we had suffered a complete transmission failure. The cost to fix it is significantly more than the car is actually worth, leaving us completely stranded. Without a vehicle, I am stuck. I cannot reliably get to my night shifts at Amazon, I cannot pick up feed or supplies for our animals, and most importantly, I have no way to get my mother to her doctor appointments or respond to an emergency. I also do grocery delivery when I can to make extra money, but now I no longer have a car to do that.
Having a reliable car will completely transform our daily lives and take a massive weight off my shoulders. Right now, being without a vehicle means our lives are completely on pause, and the stress is overwhelming. Getting back on the road will change everything in three major ways: Protecting My Mom’s Health: First and foremost, a reliable car means security for my 80-year-old mother. It means I can get her to her routine checkups, pick up her prescriptions on time, and, most importantly, know that if there is ever a medical emergency, I can get her to the hospital without a single moment of delay or panic. Keeping Our Household & Animals Running: Managing a homestead is a 365-day-a-year job. Our garden, chickens, and animals depend entirely on me to haul heavy bags of feed, bedding, and supplies. With my rheumatoid arthritis, trying to manage these chores without a vehicle is physically devastating. A dependable 4-door car with a spacious trunk or folding seats will allow me to safely transport supplies and keep our animals fed and cared for. Securing Our Income: Working night shifts at Amazon is how I pay our bills and keep food on the table. I also rely on grocery delivery work to help make ends meet, and without a car, I can't do that either. A fuel-efficient car like a Corolla, Civic, or Prius means I can reliably get to my shifts and deliveries without the fear of breaking down on the side of the highway at 2:00 AM, and the great gas mileage ensures that my hard-earned wages go toward our living expenses rather than a gas tank. Your support isn't just buying a piece of metal and four wheels. It is buying safety for my elderly mother, food and security for our animals, relief for my physical health, and the ability for me to keep working and providing for my family. It gives us our independence and peace of mind back.
