Thank you to everyone who donated and thought about Chris during this difficult moment in his life. Chris has been given the money and is extremely thankful. He is still recovering slowly and is in a long term acute care nursing facility closer to home now. He has high hopes and is working hard on all his therapies so he can get back to a normal life in the future. Thank you again and may god bless you all.
Those who know a little bit about my family have heard of my niece Penelope. Her dad Chris has been in the hospital since early May, fighting with the dreadful Guillain Barre Syndrome. It’s a rare disease where your immune system attacks your peripheral nerves within a matter of days. His arms and legs were affected first and have been completely paralyzed for two months now. He was intubated due to the disease affecting his breathing, and now has a trach (surgical opening in his throat with a tube) in order to help him breathe. He’s gotten pneumonia twice now and unfortunately we are not seeing results as quick as we hoped for. He’s lost all his muscle and has lost about 80 lbs of weight so far. He basically feels all the pain but cannot move anything besides his head and can only mouth words to communicate. It’s a dreadful disease that I wish no one upon. He has a VERY long recovery ahead of him with an intense amount of physical, occupational, and speech therapy in order to eventually get him back to a normal life. We are hoping for the best and that he will be able to walk again and be able to play with his kids and do the daily things we all take for granted. All proceeds will go to medical and transportation costs. Above all, please keep him in your prayers and that he can make it out of this.
