I didn’t want to necessarily say that my health is a concern which is why I can’t work. I have severe neuropathy and kidney function loss, I also have fibromyalgia and C-ptsd. I am working on healing my body and mind.

My name is Melissa, and I recently moved from Texas to Michigan with my children in hopes of starting a new life and getting my health back on track. The past year has been incredibly challenging for us. I have been out of work since 2023 due to medical reasons, and in 2024, we became homeless while I battled multiple illnesses. For a long time, my pain was managed with opioids, but now I finally have a treatment plan that is actually helping to heal my body instead of just masking the pain. This has given me hope for a healthier future and the possibility of returning to part-time work within the next six months. Right now, our biggest needs are stable housing and reliable transportation. We moved to Michigan to avoid having to stay in a shelter, but without a car, it’s been extremely difficult to get to medical appointments, treatments, and even basic necessities for my children. Mobility is essential for us as I work toward recovery and independence. Your support would help us secure a safe place to live and a vehicle, which would make a world of difference in our daily lives and help me continue my journey toward a healthier lifestyle. I am reaching out for help because I want to give my children a better life and show them that even in tough times, there is hope and kindness in the world.
