I got into remission but unfortunately six months later my leukemia came back and I spent the last month in the hospital. My cancer is very aggressive, so the new treatment in the hospital didn’t work. I’m now being sent far from home for another form of treatment. If you’d like to learn more, please keep reading!

<div>This GoFundMe is to help with my lost income, upcoming travel expenses, food and potential hotel costs (for my husband) for the next 2.5 months, and in any case he may have to take time off to be with me. We’ve met the deductible for our insurance, but we still have to pay a percentage. That also means we'll have ongoing medical bills along with the existing bills from before meeting our deductible.

<div>Since being discharged in February, my chemo treatment consisted of getting 2 shots a day for 5 days on my stomach. That came with painful bruising, itching, and extreme fatigue. Each round became more difficult and painful. I own a small business and did in person events before I was diagnosed. I can no longer do these events because of the fatigue and pain, but also to not risk myself getting sick in a crowded place. Everything financially has fallen on my husband.

<div>On July 15th I had a doctor’s appointment where I was told my counts looked great and was able to take a break from chemo that week. I was going to resume 2 weeks later.

<div>On July 19th I went into the ER for side affects from medication. I was fevering and had body pains. After doing some blood work, they saw that my counts were elevated. They contacted my oncologists and I was transferred to my usual hospital. They ran tests along with a bone marrow biopsy and informed me that my cancer came back. They found an aggressive gene mutation which means my cancer is aggressive.

<div>For the past month I've been in the hospital receiving new and stronger treatment, but my counts weren't looking how they were supposed to. They concluded they were unable to get me into remission again.

<div>So now, my hematologists contacted a doctor from MD Anderson in Houston, TX. He runs studies and has 4 trials that could be good for me, 1 in particular they think may be perfect. This stay alone will be a month and half. If they're able to get me into remission, they may go forward with my bone marrow transplant as a cure. This will extend my stay by another month.

<div>It has taken awhile (and I still don't think I have) to process that my cancer came back anywhere between that Monday and Friday, so quickly. I'm heartbroken that my treatment in the hospital didn't work out for me. I'm trying to be grateful though. I'm thankful I have the opportunity for more treatment, I know not everyone does. This was all unexpected and now having to be so far away from my family, pets, and friends for potentially 2.5 months is dreadful to me.

<li>Hi, my name is Jessie and I’m fundraising for my sister and best friend, Christina Skelton. Chrissy as she was known to everyone, was an amazing person, funny, genuine, loving, just an all-around good person. She was a mother, a sister, an aunt, a niece and sister-in-law. Chrissy ran a paranormal group on Facebook for years and inherently took control of it for quite some time, she absolutely loved paranormal stories. She wrote a bunch of her own and posted them on that page, and were very well received by the people who read them. So, we then decided to do a podcast where we would just talk about true crime, paranormal things and just weird stuff. She always wanted to visit haunted places so we could record about it. Unfortunately, Chrissy developed some heart issues as well as some other health issues last year in June of 2023, where she was in the ICU for a week then to a regular room for about a couple weeks to recover, she almost died. She came out of that and fought to get better. She was on the road to recovery, very slowly but definitely doing better within a few months. In October/November she was up and walking which she could hardly do before that, so this was a very good sign that she was doing way better and would hopefully be able to juggle all the health responsibilities and get back on track to be able to live a healthier life. She then contracted COVID-19 in December and never seem to recover from it. She just got weaker and her heart couldn’t handle it anymore. It just wasn’t working in the manner It should have. On the morning of Thursday, March 7 2024, I found her, unable to get up or move from a chair in her apartment. She was completely exhausted and said she needed help getting back to bed. I then called 911 and asked for an ambulance. After some talk with the EMTs, she decided it was time to go to the hospital. She was rushed to the hospital where her heart basically collapsed, hospital staff performed CPR on her for almost 30 minutes. They were not able to get her heartbeat back and she passed away in Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy, New Jersey at the age of 47.  This was a complete and utter shock to all of us. She has been a survivor and a fighter, all of her life and to see her lose her life like this was devastating. As some of you may well know, she was barely scraping by with money from the state for being out of work she never even got her disability that she applied for months ago. My sister leaves behind family and friends that absolutely loved her. Her son Austin whom she always spoke about and shared pictures on her social media has lost his mother at the age of 29. She was so absolutely proud of him as we all are. As you all may also know, we are all living paycheck to paycheck. So we are asking for donations to be able to pay for her funeral expenses as well as any expenses that may arise. We know everybody is probably living the way we are, paycheck to paycheck but even if you donate $5.00, 10.00 or whatever you can it all adds up and we would be eternally grateful. And for many of you, you may know that nothing in Chrissy‘s life ever came easy, and I know that because I was right there with her fighting alongside her. She was a survivor and no matter what bad things came her way she just dealt with it and tried to just live her life. This isn’t an easy task for us to ask any of you for your hard earned money but we would very greatly appreciate it. We have not gotten a date yet for the services, but we would like it held at Flynn and son funeral home in Fords, New Jersey. Gordon Kuba Chemotherapy Fund - Hodgkin's Lymphoma <div>Just days before Thanksgiving 2023 a cherished member of our New Jersey music community, 30-year old drummer Gordon Kuba, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a cancer of the immune system. Gordon is an established drummer and private teacher in the North Jersey area, and performs with a variety of acts from all over as a highly-coveted live and session drummer. Surviving the pandemic was hard enough for any working musician, but Gordon, for those of you who may recall, suffered from complications after contracting mono during the earlier days of the covid-19 lockdowns. There is a known and established link in people who contract mono and later develop Hodgkin's lymphoma, though we have no way to know if this Gordon's case. Regardless, Gordon is now being dealt a triple-whammy and under the doctor's orders will undergo 6 months of chemotherapy. </div><div><br></div><div>We are fundraising the bare minimum to ensure that Gordon does not get evicted from his current housing in the event his treatment begins to interfere with his gig, and teaching schedule. There will be deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance and other out-of-pocket costs Gordon will have to front, and we hope this fundraiser will alleviate that burden for him.</div><div><br></div><div>We hope and pray for Gordon's health, but we do not wish to take anything for granted, and any amount donated to this fund will be greatly appreciated and will directly support Gordon on the most fundamental level at this time. <div>I’m Ellen Baxter, and before retiring I was a School Social Worker for Edison Public Schools in New Jersey for about 25 years. I worked very closely with Lana Savlovski over a decade ago before she sadly had a series of strokes and seizures that caused her to go into a coma at age seven.

<div>Now, Lana is 19 years old, living at home with her mother Svetlana, father Serguei and younger sister Sophia, who has Down syndrome and sadly the family is in jeopardy of being evicted from their home. Her father worked full-time but once Covid hit couldn’t work because he couldn’t risk bringing any infections into the house because for Lana it would be life-threatening.

<div>Lana is bed-ridden and must be moved frequently throughout the day to prevent bed sores.  When Lana was younger her mother could move her by herself but as Lana has grown, her mom can no longer move her on her own so her father can only work part-time jobs so he can be there to move Lana.

<div>Since Covid, they have accrued a lot of debt including rent and utilities. Her father has been making minimal payments when he can, but the landlord has now taken him to court to force eviction.

<div>Janelle Thomas is undoubtedly the single warmest, most wholesome individual I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Her vibrance lit up the room the second she stepped in. Janelle loves the great outdoors. She likes to hike, rock climb, swim, ice skate and ski and regularly participated in these activities with people who love her. At home, she is an avid reader and loves to crochet for her friends and family. She is a people person, sweet, kindhearted and compassionate beyond measure. These are primarily why she became a Physician Assistant; she loves to care for and help people. She truly is a testament to a life well lived. She had a bright and promising future that was abruptly halted.

<div>On July 9th, Janelle was the victim in a head-on collision that left her unresponsive. She sustained extremely severe injuries across her entire body and was not breathing on her own. The stars were aligned though, and several off-duty first responders witnessed the crash and were able to resuscitate Janelle until the EMS arrived. Janelle was airlifted to a nearby hospital where she received some basic initial treatment. Her condition was too critical for this hospital's capabilities, so Janelle was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden. The trauma team at Cooper performed emergency surgery on Janelle and they were able to save her life.

<div>As I write this, nearly two months later, Janelle is still in a coma because of the severity of the accident. Over those two months, Janelle has undergone several surgeries to treat her injuries. Janelle had a broken pelvis and right ankle, fractures of vertebrae in her neck and back, compound fractures of her left arm, a fracture on her right elbow, a dislocated wrist, a collapsed left lung, a ruptured intestine, and of course the most serious of which, her Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

<div>Despite all these injuries, Janelle is so strong and she's fighting hard, and recovering steadily. While she remains unconscious, she responds to sound and touch. It brings us comfort when she squeezes your hand occasionally. She is still in the early stage of her very long journey to recovery, but the doctors believe that Janelle would eventually be able to walk and have meaningful conversations with us again.

<div>With TBI’s, no one knows for sure how long it will take someone to recover, but with proper treatment they are projecting that Janelle would be in a good place in a few years. Her recovery will include her time in the Trauma ICU, her time on the Trauma step-down unit where she is now, several months at a neurological rehabilitation facility, and untold amounts of time working through physical, occupational and speech therapies.

<p>Hi my name is Sareena and I’m asking for help rebuilding my home. We had a tragic house fire on April 3, 2021 at around 1:30 am. We ran out with nothing but the clothes we were wearing. It has now been close to four months and we are still awaiting assistance from our insurance. They have refused to advance any funds and continue to investigate the property which means we are not allowed in it to retrieve any of our stuff. We have lived with family for the past few months and are currently living in a family members house while it is in the process of being sold. After that, we will have no place to go. To make matters worse, our house was raided by squatters. We went to pick up mail at the address and noticed the doors open. Upon clearance from the police, we were able to go inside and take pictures and see what was missing. Jewelry and money was stolen from inside the house and everything was strewn about.

On Sunday, March 14th, 2021, my father went to exercise on his bike. Just a couple of minutes after he left home, around 12:30 pm, he was hit by an unlicensed driver in a 2019 Chevy Express who failed to stop at a 4 way stop. My dad got hit, ran over, dragged and he was still under the car until the help arrived. He was rushed to the operation room and had 3 major surgeries. My dad sustained critical injuries including his 11 right ribs completely shattered, 8 of them were replaced. Multiple fractures, multiple punctured organs, trauma to both his lungs, major bleeding in his abdomen and both lungs, part of his right lung, spleen, and tail of pancreas removed. He was in ICU unconscious, unstable, and depending on the ventilator to breathe for 20 days. Since then, he moved to the surgical unit making great progress. He’s stable and is able to breathe on his own but still very weak. He is provided with the nutrients needed through tube feeding. Due to his injuries and traumas, it’ll take a long time for him to recover. Currently, I’m residing in my college town and I am far away from my family. I cannot go visit him due to COVID restrictions, but my family needs your guy’s help. My dad provided most of our family’s income and with him hospitalized and family members needing to stay with him 24/7, our family is facing a financial burden for medical expenses, rehabilitation, and paying for bills. We are in need of every help possible in this tragic time. From being a construction worker to organizing alcohol bottles in liquor stores to doing Uber from 4 am every day… I was able to see how exhausted he was behind the smile he put upfront. On April 11th, our 20-year-old son, Daunte Wright Sr., was fatally shot and killed by a Brooklyn Center police officer during a routine traffic stop. The Daunte Wright Sr. Memorial Fund

His attacker slashed him from cheek to cheek with a box cutter on the L train. He was left bleeding profusely on the subway, nobody helped. His wound required nearly 100 stitches.  <br /><br />Noel has not received <strong>any</strong> financial help since his attack. Any person who has suffered such a horrifying hate crime should not be left alone in the dark, worrying about coming up with the money to stay alive and healthy. My name is Elizabeth Kari, but my friends call me Liz. My mom, Vilma Kari, was a recent target of a racially motivated hate crime that took place in NYC.  First and foremost, I want to start off by saying my mom is humbled by the outpouring of messages and support from not only our friends and family, but from the kind souls all over the world. I am happy to share she is safe and in good spirits. Although the healing process will not be easy, she has always been a resilient role model for me. We are hopeful that in time she will make a full recovery. <br /><br />I am writing this now – not just for my mom but for past victims who did not get the opportunity to share their stories.<br /><br />It goes without saying we have all been watching the news and seeing the attacks on Asian Americans since last year, especially on the elderly all around the country and thought to ourselves, these can be our parents or loved ones.  When I received the call this past Monday, March 29th, I couldn’t believe when they told me the most recent attack happened to my own mother.  The security video that has gone viral has been the most difficult thing to watch, apart from the crime itself. Help & Support: Official Vilma Kari, NYC, Age 65

My mother, Hyun Jung Grant( maiden name Kim), was one of the victims of the shootings in Atlanta, Georgia at Gold Spa. This is something that should never happen to anyone. She was a single mother who dedicated her whole life to providing for my brother and I. It is only my brother and I in the United States. The rest of my family is in South Korea and are unable to come. She was one of my best friends and the strongest influence on who we are today. Losing her has put a new lens on my eyes on the amount of hate that exists in our world. As much as I want to grieve and process the reality that she is gone, I have a younger brother to take care of and matters to resolve as a result of this tragedy. Frankly, I have no time to grieve for long. I will need to figure out the living situation for my brother and I for the next few months, possibly year. As of now I have been advised to move out of my current home within the end of March to save money and find a new place to live. My biggest priority right now is to put my mother to rest and plan out the funeral but due to some legal complications, I am unable to obtain my mother's body. I don't think I'll be able to figure out this whole situation along with legal matters if given 2 weeks to move out. Any donation will be used as funds for basic living necessities for my brother and I such as food, bills, and other expenses. I wish to stay in my current home for at least one more month to sort everything out. Any amount would be forever appreciated. Please everyone just stay safe and check up on your friends and loved ones that may feel endangered.

#DaniStrong #DanforthStrong<br /><br /><br />On Sunday, July 22, our dear Danielle ("Dani") Kane sustained a life-altering gunshot wound in the shooting on the Danforth in Toronto's Greektown. <br /><br />Here's what happened that night on the Danforth:<br /><br />Dani and her boyfriend were treating a good friend to dinner at 7Numbers restaurant when they first heard gunshots. A woman came into the restaurant saying there was a girl on the street who had been shot. Her boyfriend, an ER nurse, knew he could help and sprung into action, exiting through a side door. Dani, a nursing student herself, wanted to help and followed, unbeknownst to him. A few steps out of the door, her boyfriend turned and made eye contact with the shooter. He recalls hearing a clicking sound and seeing him lift his arms towards him. He ducked behind a patio table but then heard a scream. Dani had just opened the door and was shot in the doorway of the restaurant. Her boyfriend looked over to see her on the ground, went to her and brought her back inside the restaurant with the help of others. He began administering first aid. Within two minutes the police were on the scene. It all happened so fast. Dani was the last civilian shot that evening. <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/31613202_1532645530290156_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="31613202_1532645530290156_r.jpeg" /><br />Dani’s smile and infectious energy, lights up every room. She’s a lively, rambunctious, determined and ambitious young woman who worked as an ER clerk at Toronto East General Hospital and recently completed her first year studying nursing. Anyone who knows her, knows that Dani is never still. She loves to travel, hike and dance. And her natural generosity and warmth gives her the special ability to make everyone she meets feel important and loved. Opinionated and strong-willed, she always champions those in need. Now, at the young age of 31, Dani faces the most difficult challenge of her life. <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/31613202_1532645563190567_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" alt="31613202_1532645563190567_r.jpeg" /><br />The bullet struck and shattered Dani's T11 vertebrae and punctured her diaphragm and stomach. She has undergone three surgeries with another scheduled later this Friday. She is currently in the ICU with constant supervision. Her prognosis is that she is expected to survive but may never be able to walk again.<br /><br /><strong>Dani left the safety of the restaurant to see if she could help someone in need.</strong><br /><br />This is who she is. We are proud of her courageous and selfless act and yet, we are also unsurprised at her actions because she always stands up for those who need help and advocates for those who are most marginalized in our society. <br /><br /><strong>Now, we ask you to help stand up for Dani.</strong><br /><br />Dani’s life has been changed forever. She will require new housing, months or years of rehabilitation and specialized care. To assist Dani and her boyfriend with the extraordinary upcoming costs, we have launched a GoFundMe campaign called #DaniStrong: Stand up for Dani. We, her family, ask you to consider donating to our campaign to help our dear Dani as she heals and rebuilds her life. <br /><br />According to the Christopher Reeve Foundation, the cost for the first year of paraplegia is around $518,000 US with costs around $69,000US each subsequent year. These costs do not include indirect costs like loss of wages (estimated at $72,000 per year in 2014). #DaniStrong: Stand up for Dani

Raising funds for a family of a young child of 2.5years. Their family went through a series of tragic events in 2017 from miscarriage, job loss and now, a fire in their home on December 21st 2017.They have lost a lot !! A fully finished basement has been left destroyed. Clothes, personal belongings, furniture has been destroyed through the fire. Whatever has been left in the house has to be disposed of because of the toxic chemicals as the fire started from the furnace, causing black smoke through the entire house. I’m asking you to help this family with whatever you can. Most importantly please pray for them as they are going through a very difficult time in their lives and with this last tragic event - it’s extremely hard for them to recover with limited funds and tremendous loss.  Lack of rental insurance let them to this situation in which the family is asking for your help. Please find a little love in your heart and spread the word so that they can slowly start to recover from this event.
