<div>Today, tragedy struck in Charlotte, North Carolina, as a routine warrant service by a team of US Marshals from the Fugitive Task Force turned into a devastating mass shooting. What began as an attempt to apprehend a convicted felon in possession of a firearm quickly spiraled into chaos when the suspect opened fire on the Marshals and local Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officers. The initial suspect was swiftly neutralized, but another individual within the residence seized the weapon and continued the barrage of gunfire on the officers, resulting in a harrowing exchange of bullets.

<div>In the aftermath of the confrontation, the toll was staggering. Eight officers lay injured, four from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and four US Marshals. Tragically, three US Marshals succumbed to their injuries, while one CMPD officer remains in critical condition, fighting for their life. As the community reels from this senseless act of violence, thoughts and prayers pour out for the wounded officers and their families. In response to this devastating event, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to provide support for those affected, offering a beacon of hope amidst the darkness of this tragedy. As the investigation unfolds and the names of the fallen are confirmed, the community stands together in solidarity, determined to honor the bravery of those who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

In 2021, we erected a lifesize statue of Jackie at our baseball complex inside McAdams Park in Wichita, Kansas. Recently, that statue was cut off just above Jackie's shoe tops and stolen from its rightful place. It was found in disrepair and cannot be repaired As law enforcement searches for the culprits of this crime, we remain devoted to our mission of providing low-cost baseball and education opportunities for our 600 kids, ages 5-14. They are as heartbroken over this theft as any of us and we are determined to replace the statue. We also use donated funds to operate our facilities and education initiatives, which include Bright Lights, Passion Project, Bats and Badges and Full Count. We are devoted to helping our 600 kids in any way we can. We also are working to install better security around the statue area and new lights and artificial turf for two of our playing fields. This disease has made it incredibly difficult for her to care for her two beautiful children and provide for them. In 2019, Shertori suffered a stroke and was finally diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, a debilitating disease that causes constant pain, muscle spasms, seizures, and vestibular issues. But now, there is hope.

<div>Shertori has been accepted into a medical trial at CBCI Colorado Blood Cancer Institute that could potentially put her Stiff Person Syndrome into remission. This is a life-changing opportunity for Shertori and her family. However, this trial requires Shertori to stay in Colorado for three months. She will be in the hospital for three weeks and then require a home health aide for the remaining two months and one week. This is where we need your help.

<div>On Friday, June 2, 2023, Ajike "Aj" Owens, a devoted and loving mother of four, was tragically and unjustifiably murdered in an attempt to protect her children from racism and violence. Her mother is now left to raise her grandchildren. AJ's story is chronicled in the Netflix documentary The Perfect Neighbor.

<div>Ajike's children were playing in a field next to an Ocala apartment complex when an unidentified 58-year-old white woman reportedly began yelling at them and calling them racial slurs. The children left but accidentally left an iPad behind, which the woman took. When one of the children went to her residence to retrieve it, she threw it, hitting the boy and cracking the screen. After Ajike's children informed her of what happened, she walked across the street with her kids to speak with the woman. She knocked on the door, and at that point, the woman allegedly shot through the door, hitting Ajike, who later died from her injuries. The woman responsible has not yet been identified, arrested, or charged with anything by law enforcement.

She was a single mother whose life centered around her children. She was the Team Mom for her children’s football/cheerleading teams. She excelled professionally as a manager in the Restaurant/Hospitality industry. She was a devoted Christian who believed in bringing her kids up in a supportive Christian environment. After being a devoted mother, she was a devoted friend that took friendships to heart. There wasn’t anything that she wouldn’t do for those near and dear to her heart. She often would give to other single mothers that were in similar situations that she’d been in.

<div>Nearly three years ago, my life changed in an instant after a tragic incident on the New York City subway that left me paralyzed with a severe spinal cord injury.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>When I woke up in the ICU after surgery, I had a feeding tube in my mouth and could barely move. Doctors later told me that my neck had been broken at the C4–C5 level and that I had undergone 14 hours of surgery to stabilize my spine. In that moment, everything about my life felt uncertain.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Before my injury, I worked as an artist and graphic designer, and creativity has always been at the center of my life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The first year after my injury was incredibly difficult. With the care of my mother and sister, the support of friends, and a lot of determination, I slowly began the long process of recovery.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over the past three years, through rehabilitation and several operations, I have reached meaningful milestones. Today I can use a computer again, return to my art, and manage small but important daily tasks like eating with one hand and brushing my teeth. Each of these steps represents many hours of therapy, patience, and hard work.

<div>The support I have received from this community has made a real difference in my life. Donations have helped cover essential expenses, including rent, groceries, medical needs, and adaptive tools that make daily life more accessible and independent.

<div>My name is RowVaughn Wells. I am the mother of Tyre Nichols. My son, Tyre Nichols, was pulled over for suspected “reckless driving” on January 7, 2023. There is no evidence to substantiate this claim. Further, police claim that my son left the scene on foot. It turns out that he was just trying to get to my house for safety -- which was only a few blocks away from where the incident happened. My baby was just trying to make it home to be safe in my arms. Tyre was unarmed, nonthreatening, and respectful to police during the entire encounter!

<div>During my son's interaction with the police, they beat him beyond recognition until he became unconscious. He was then taken to a hospital and immediately placed on life support. He died 3 days later, but I believe that my son died on January 7th, the moment those 5 Black Memphis Police Officers pulled Tyre over and beat him to death for no good reason. His cousin who saw him in the hospital, swollen and disfigured, like “he was a scary monster.”

<div>All 5 Officers have been fired, and charges ranging from Murder 2 to Kidnapping, have been filed against them. The video of Tyre's murder is set to be released any day now. I would like to warn everyone that the contents of the video are "horrific." However, I am asking people to protest in peace after its release. I don’t want us burning up our cities, and tearing up the streets because that’s not what my son stood for.

<div>He had never been in trouble with the law, not even a parking ticket. He was an honest man, a wonderful son, and kind to everyone. He was quirky and true to himself, and his loss will be felt nationally.

Texas Elementary School Shooting Victims Fund

On May 14, 2022, the Buffalo community suffered a devastating act of violence when a<br />gunman opened fire at the Tops Friendly Market on Jefferson Avenue, killing ten people<br />and wounding three. Many have asked how to help.<br /><br />In partnership with Tops, the National Compassion Fund has established the Buffalo<br />5/14 Survivors Fund to provide direct financial assistance to the survivors of the<br />deceased and those directly affected by this tragedy.<br /><br />One hundred percent of the contributions donated to this fund will go directly to victims<br />and survivors of this atrocity. Qualifying charitable donations to this fund are tax<br />deductible.<br /><br />The National Compassion Fund is the leading authority on financial assistance to<br />victims of mass casualty events. It is a subsidiary of the National Center for Victims of<br />Crime, the nation’s leading resource and advocacy center for victims of all types of<br />crime.

Buffalo 5-14 Survivors Fund

On Sunday, August 9th, this precious angel was playing outside with his siblings when he was murdered. He was merely doing what he would do any other day and that’s playing with his sisters, riding his bike, doing what kids do and all of the innocence that comes with being a child. This family has faced unimaginable pain because of this senseless act of violence. On Sunday, April 12, Sylvia Leroy, a pregnant nurse, positive with COVID19 suffered a cardiac arrest at Mt. Sinai hospital after successfully coming off a ventilator 7 days prior.  Her premature daughter was delivered at 30 weeks and is in the NICU.  The arrest lasted 8 minutes and has left her with anoxic brain injury due to lack of oxygen and presently she’s awake but minimally conscious, not able to respond to sounds, touch or commands. <br /><br />Sylvia will need significant long-term acute cognitive and physical therapy to help give her a fighting chance for her baby Esther and her 3 year old toddler Jay.  Sylvia’s union insurance unfortunately covers only 30 days of acute rehabilitation - at centers like Kessler in NJ, Moss Rehab in PA and TIRR Memorial in Texas - a handful across the country that specialize in recovery for people suffering from severe disorders of consciousness due to lack of oxygen to the brain like Sylvia.<br /><br />Sylvia’s family has been fighting early on to get her the best care possible, from transferring her to Mt.
