<div>Liv was diagnosed with Noonan’s Syndrome, none of which their parents had, it is simply something that happened inside her, and it’s a very rare version of this, she is barely crawling yet, can’t eat by herself, can’t say anything, and she is turning four in August, so they are both beyond exhausted and filled with sadness still, they don’t get the help they very much need and haven’t had any breaks for four years, no one in the family on both sides can not manage to help her or take care of her for more than a few hours a day, she is getting heavy but we still have to carry her all the time everywhere! She also gets sick easily because she can’t move like normal kids her age, and we have a lot of hospital visits, 4 x drainage in her ears, couple of teeth operated out, constant checkups at the hospital with kids who have rare diseases, physiotherapists and on and on… but we keep optimistic as much as we can and train her daily but obviously, it’s hard, hardest ever, never thought this would happen, but we also never knew or anything they could have done! And she still never sleeps properly at night so we are also in a constant state of jetlag for four years now… I had to close my company, have no work at all, spent all my savings on this, and am now on unemployment benefit and we barely make it, we are fighting to get proper help and hopefully, it will happen soon, we are in deep crises and depression and also seeing proper help now… it’s been a very lonely few years, just after two horrible years with Conrona crap and the year before that with my dad dying and having to sort that out alone for a year…

<div>Billie Howliday Slick (my sweet, smart. sassy four year-old rescue mutt) started showing signs of distress about 8 weeks ago... it began with a simple upset stomach. I took her to her primary care clinic and they gave me some anti-diarrhea pills and they seemed to help mildly, but all the while I couldn't help but notice her stomach getting bigger by the day. Eventually I noticed that she was struggling to breathe, so I brought her back in for bloodwork and X-rays. They discovered that her albumin levels were dangerously low and were concerned about her liver function. The X-ray thankfully did not show any mass, but she was dumping fluid all over her belly. She had 2 liters removed and they referred me to some specialists... but the earliest appointment we could get was still 3 weeks away. I made it and crossed my fingers...

<div>The draining helped for a few days, but the the bloating and wheezing soon came back, worse than before. I called other nearby specialists on the list and was suggested that I should take her to the ER (where we had the upcoming appointment).  Luckily the clinic wasn't very busy and they took her back to see a doctor... and they immediately noticed that the fluid build up had gotten so bad in her chest that one of her lungs collapsed. They suggested overnight hospitalization to drain her again, to gather updated bloodwork and then she'd finally get an ultrasound the following morning.

<div>The ultrasound could not find anything conclusive as to what was causing this gastric distress/nutrient malabsorption so they asked me if they could anesthetize her and perform an endoscopy to explore further down her GI tract and to collect a sample for biopsy. I accepted nervously and the procedure went smoothly.  She was discharged a few hours later with some meds and a special low fat diet plan and we will hopefully know in a week what has been making her so sick.

<div>I thought that first visit to vet was already very expensive at $1200, but the round at the ER basically octupled that.  I am a freelance musician with a pretty empty touring schedule this year, so it's impossible for me to cover these costs on my own. Billie's been everything to me since I adopted her 3 years ago and we've already beaten a bout of nasty heartworm disease... we've healed each others' hearts during a really hard time and now I'm asking for your help in getting my puppy back to her healthy, spunky self.

My wife and I were born and raised Ukraine. But my home for all my adult life was the USA. For the last 8 years I lived in Kyiv, Ukraine where I opened a music school, bringing jazz and blues studies to the local kids.<br /><br />As you know Russia had invaded Ukraine. Unfortunately our school was bombed with all our equipment there. Russian rocket bombed civilian areas, people were forced to hide and leave everything behind. And there is over 17 million Ukrainian women and children are fleeing the country with no money and nowhere to go. Many people from European countries offered shelter and food, however many Ukrainians don’t have even money to get a ticket in Europe or buy their own food or medicine by leaving everything behind escaping the bombs.<br /><br />My wife and I have helped dozens of families to cross to Poland and we have found some families who offered shelter, food and clothes.<br /><br />Many children have lost their families. Many women lost their husbands.<br /><br />Many people we know and have asked us in emails offering food and shelter and are waiting for the refugees in Czech Republic, Switzerland, the UK, Ireland, and Canada. But they can’t afford getting there or rent a place. Many women don’t speak other languages, and they need food, medicine. We want to help them.<br /><br />Please help us raise the funds to buy them tickets, food, and temporary shelter. If you don't already know me, I'm a musician, composer, producer and touring performer. Along with my band Beer For Dolphins and my solo work, I've played with Frank Zappa, Devin Townsend, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and many others. If you do already know me, hi again!<br /><br />I'm stuck at home right now, just like many of you probably are. I'd like to get to work making some recordings at home, and I could really use your help.<br /><br />The primary source of my income has always been live work, followed by producing and playing on other peoples' albums. Right now, live shows are not a reliable option. The second half of the tour I was just on has been postponed, and the fate of any performances in the near future is uncertain. <br /><br />I've been wanting to establish a home-recording setup for a long time. It's been over ten years since I could record at home. Now I think it's a necessity. <br /><br />I love recording. I have a ton of lyrics, music, voice memos, etc., raring to be developed into finished tracks. <br /><br />I'm looking into using Bandcamp and Patreon to present this new music, and hoping it can supplement my unreliable tour income. <br /><br />In addition to working on my own stuff, I look forward to being able to work on other people's projects from home as well. <br /><br />But first, I need some equipment. My 10-year-old MacBook can't handle this job, and I don't have current recording software or the necessary hardware.  <br /><br />Here's what I'm looking at right now, although I’m open to suggestions about software and gear:<br /><br />I've always worked with Pro Tools in the past ($600), but some friends have also recommended Logic Pro ($200). There are a couple of Pro Tools-based projects that I’ve been working on elsewhere, which would be easier to continue editing at home if I had Pro Tools.  Also, I could start recording new music more quickly with Pro Tools, since I know how to work with it already. So I’m leaning towards Pro Tools, but with the $400 difference, I definitely could learn to love Logic.<br /><br />I'd like another MacBook, since my last one was really reliable and long-lasting. Depending on processor, RAM and storage, it'll be $2700-$3600 for a computer that can run the new recording software. (Pro Tools requires more computer oomph than Logic Pro.)<br /><br />I'm not looking to start with the fanciest gear, just hoping to piece together a relatively low-cost rig that works. For the interface, I'm considering a Steinberg UR22mkII ($165). For monitors, I'm looking at PreSonus Eris E3.5 ($100).  I’ve already got a mic and good headphones.<br /><br />So that's the gear I'm looking into. The total for all of it is $3171 to $4471, depending on the computer specs, and whether I'm able to get Pro Tools or Logic Pro. I'm setting this GoFundMe campaign to the high end of this range, in hopes of getting Pro Tools and the sturdiest of computers to handle it.<br /><br />I'm very eager to get started writing and recording new stuff at home. Your help with this would be sincerely appreciated.
