My name is Robert, and I’m reaching out because I’m facing one of the hardest times in my life. I was recently diagnosed with a rare type of blood cancer. I’ve always tried to work and support myself, but my treatments are every two weeks, and even though employers said they would work with me, I was let go because of my medical needs. Now, I’m unable to work and my bills are piling up. I lost my car because I couldn’t pay my loan, and I’m about to have my gas shut off. I don’t have family to help me, so I’m fighting cancer alone.

 I was able to get medical coverage through the state, which helps with the cost of my treatments, but it doesn’t cover my everyday living expenses. I’ve applied for disability benefits, but the process can take months or even a year. In the meantime, I’m struggling to keep my gas and electricity on, pay for my phone so I can make appointments, afford medicine, and buy food. These essentials are critical for me to stay safe and focused on my treatment while I wait for help.
