I never thought I would be making a GoFundMe, but I also never thought I would have to watch someone I love struggle the way my boyfriend does. For privacy reasons, I’ve chosen to keep both of our identities hidden, because he has no idea I’m making this fundraiser and I want to be able to surprise him without giving anything away. He’s 27, and he’s carrying a huge amount of debt from when he was younger. He grew up in a very difficult home, with parents who abused substances, involved themselves in gangs and dangerous activities, and when his mom and dad couldn’t provide for the family, he stepped in and took out loans to pay the bills and take care of his siblings. He was just trying to help his family. Now, almost a decade later, that decision has followed him and began to haunt him. He works from 9am to 3am, six days a week, and almost everything he makes goes toward debt, interest, rent, groceries and bills. No matter how hard he works, it feels like he can never actually get ahead. I’ve watched the person I love become exhausted and depressed from constantly carrying this weight. He doesn’t enjoy his life anymore, and it hurts me so badly to see him like this. He takes care of me in so many ways and has always been there for me, even when he’s struggling himself. Because of my own circumstances, I can only work part time, and I’ve felt so helpless knowing I can’t do more to help him financially. He doesn’t know I’m making this fundraiser. My hope is that I can surprise him and give him some of the relief he has needed for so long. I don’t expect anyone to fix everything for us. I’m just hoping that with enough people helping a little, we can give him a chance to finally breathe and start looking forward to his life again. If you can donate, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I just want to do something for the person who has spent so much of his life taking care of everyone else. ❤️
