<div>In 2022, my life changed forever when a firearm I owned accidentally discharged and left me with a severe abdominal injury. I spent eight months in the hospital, and when I finally returned home, I was still facing a long road to recovery. My grandparents took me in and gave me a place to heal, but just a few months later, we learned that my grandfather had advanced bone cancer. Despite the doctors' hopes, he passed away, leaving my grandmother, my sister Emily (who is special needs), and me to face the world together.

<div> Since then, we've been failing to keep up with the mounting bills. My grandmother's only income is her social security, and after my grandfather passed, that amount was cut in half. We've sold almost everything of value—jewelry, tools, even the house I grew up in—just to keep the lights on and food on the table. My sister and I have done everything we can to help, but with my limited mobility and her own challenges, neither of us can work. Our mother dumped my sister on my grandma 1 week after my grandfather died, so it's just the three of us now, doing our best to support each other.

<div> The funds from this fundraiser will help us catch up on overdue bills like water and electricity, buy food and medicine, and address urgent needs like fixing the brakes on my grandmother's car. We NEVER usually ask for help, but right now, it's just us three against the world. Here in a month and a half, I go back in to surgery for my colostomy reversal, my goal is to set my grandma up with her bills all paid up, and enough food and spare money, so she can relax for a while. She has done more than either one of us grandchildren could EVER repay. Once I get back out of the hospital, I’ll be going back to work at a timeshare resort. After I get out of the hospital for the (fingers crossed) last time, I will be taking care of her and my sister, not the way it has been! Help My Family Recover & Stay Together

<span style="color:rgb(51,51,51);">Hello my name is Ariel Tonkel and I have a genetic terminal illness called Cystic Fibrosis. It primarily is damaging my lungs.<br /><br />For the past two years I've been evaluated and monitored to be eventually listed for a double lung transplant. However, on June 9th, 2023 I made the major mistake of trying to take my own life and was nearly successful. Because of this, my transplant team needs to see proof of mental stability for a minimum of a year. The problem is I don't know if my lungs have a year or more in them. My lung function this summer was as low as 19% with my small airways at only 4% currently. My doctor told me that if I were to continue this decline and get sicker faster than I can qualify for a transplant they would "assist in palliative care and make sure I die with dignity."<br /><br />Needless to say, I'm terrified. I am scared if I do make it transplant that I'd be so sick by than everything will be in a rush and that's why I am asking for your help now instead of when I don't have much time. UPDATE: It has now become clear that I will not make it to transplant and was advised to have extra funds for the more frequent and intensive treatment I will need to prolong my life as long as possible. Essentially this money will go towards medical expenses either way. I am on disability and cannot work so I hate to say it but I am desperate. <br />Absolutely anything helps and I will be forever grateful. Roy Jaggers was 27 on August 1st, 2021, just 23 days before his 28th birthday, when three people kidnapped, tortured for hours and then murdered him at Cathedral Canyon in Pahrump, NV. The trial will be held in Pahrump, NV. That is an hour drive from Las Vegas where I live. It will be held during May of 2023. I need to attend the trial daily. I will need to cover everything like food and rides to and from the courthouse as well as other incidental costs during this month long trial. I’m not positive about a place to sleep since the trial date has changed. Since I’m on disability I can not afford this on my own. Which is why I will need help for me to be able to attend the trial. <div>Chris Tomlinson is a burn survivor who is also a single father of two teenage girls. In the last seven years, the three have been displaced and traveled up and down the east coast seeking shelter. During this time, Chris has desperately searched for a job but has not been successful due largely to society's view of his disability. In February 2022, this family finally found housing through section 8. Chris currently supports himself and two children with $800 a month, or $400 after the cost of housing.<br /><br />The money from this fundraiser will go to Chris Tomlinson to be used for basic necessities for his family; including shelter, food, and bills. It is USA law that any person receiving SSI cannot have assets totaling more than $2000. I find this law abhorrent, but that is a conversation for another time. Fortunately their exists something called an ABLE account, which allows for an annual contribution of $16,000 without hurting a person's SSI eligibility. Simply put, this allows us to fundraise for Chris and his children without putting them at risk of losing their benefits. <div>The ideal placement for Max is at Perkins School for the Blind, a school once attended by Helen Keller. Perkins website states "At Perkins, we offer comprehensive educational services to students ages 3 to 22 who are deafblind or deaf with additional disabilities, taking a developmental approach to language, communication and curriculum. Many students also participate in our residential program, which enhances their overall educational experience and reinforces learning through consistency."

<div>Max was evaluated in 2019 by Perkins and it was determined that he would greatly benefit from the program. Despite their deepest desires, Max's Ohio based family was unable to secure funding for this out of state program.

<div>When Max's goal is met, he will be able to afford the out of state residential tuition rate of $302,943. This will allow him to live on campus and receive an education from some of the world's most renowned experts on DeafBlind education.

Even if the total raised is less than this amount, Max's family and I have collaborated to create a number of backup plans to ensure Max will still receive highly beneficial specialized services for the DeafBlind. This includes, but is not limited to, funding a program previously created through a collaborative process between Max's family, their local school district, and a DeafBlind advocate. This program would have provided DeafBlind specialists to Max at his local school district, but was never brought into fruition due to lack of educational funding. This program could be funded for three years for $132,000.

<div>In 2015, my mother, Diane Pranske, survived a brutal kidnapping, rape and strangling. She was then set on fire and left for dead. After waking up and running to her own rescue, nine months of surgeries, a rough stay in the Burn ICU including numerous skin grafting procedures, near death experiences and grueling rehab, she returned home and is doing everything she can to live a comfortable life after having most of her physical capabilities taken from her.

On July of 2016, about to turn 19 years old I was diagnosed with cancer for the first time (currently in remission thanks to God's grace and power) and now am 23 years old trying to live as close as I can to "normal" but am struggling. I am a college student who is supposed to be enjoying my early 20's, hanging out with friends, going out, and making memories. Instead I have been battling with severe chronic illnesses that have left me hospital bound and bed written. I experience constant pain due to these illnesses and am left with zero energy to complete tasks on my own such as bathing. I have undergone multiple surgeries, treatments, had organs removed, biopsies, hospitalizations, invasive procedures and am currently with a feeding tube in order to stay alive. Despite having medical insurance has left a huge financial strain on my family and myself. I am unable to obtain a job due to my illnesses and constant hospital visits, which left me using up the savings I had set aside for my future. Though I try maintaining a positive attitude it has become incredibly difficult to push on. Asking for help has been incredibly difficult for me my entire life because it makes me feel like I am not strong enough. My family has been as supportive as they could be during these incredibly difficult times and have moved in with me to take care of me 24/7. So far none of my current doctors have been able to find a solution nor find an accurate diagnoses for everything going on with my health and we have looked at experts out of state to see if there is a possible light at the end of this tunnel. Constantly looking for doctors, trying new treatments and medications plus hospital bills have piled on high aside from other expenses such as my education and so on. The physical pain and emotional turmoil has piled on high and as a last resort I decided to create this gofundme. One where your neighbor was your neighbor because they’re your neighbor not because of tax brackets or real estate. A world where good is done for the sake of good not gain. <strong>In the past few months, we the unhoused community at Echo Park Lake, have been creating the groundwork for this world.</strong><br /><br /><br />Amidst all the drama of L.A.P.D and city harassment we’ve been able to come together as one ☝️ community; both “unhoused” and “housed."  What we’ve discovered is that there really is nothing but love. Separation is an illusion. One that our society unfortunately  permeates in everything it does. From class division to hierarchical work structures to goals that benefit only the individual ‍♂️ people are either really feeling themselves... #ego, or really feeling down on themselves and that just isn't our reality. At least not the one that we live everyday in the park.<br /><br /><br /><strong>For us there are no barriers and no labels.</strong><br /><br />No class divisions and no power structures. We are simply a community of people trying our best to keep positive and keep going through difficult times. When the Mayor cut funding for showers during COVID-19, we didn’t just accept it, we built our own showers . When the city decided to then cut our water supply we didn’t just accept it, we rallied community support and now have full gallons everyday . The point is, <strong>we aren’t just your typical homeless encampment who accepts 2nd class citizen treatment and the city knows it</strong> ✊.<br /><br />Now it’s time the world did. We need your help in maintaining and spreading our vision. A vision of inclusion not alienation.<br /><br />For the past few months, with the help of our community and through the grace of God, we’ve been able to create a <strong>JOBS PROGRAM</strong> for the unhoused in and around the lake. What at first started as a way to spread some blessings soon turned into a radical new vision of society. Rather than losing all sense of normalcy once you find yourself outside and penniless, why not create an unhoused community that’s an image of society? Where all the essentials are still available and work isn’t a million and 1 applications away.<br /><br />A community kitchen with tables and chairs so food isn’t such a desperate endeavor. A community pantry tent where all donations can be logged and stored so as to better address the needs of each unhoused encampment. A community medical tent to help with the more common health issues people find themselves with. Community showers and charging stations. Community gardens for both unhoused and housed to grow in. And pay people for it. Pay the unhoused to run all of it. A cook for the kitchen, a nurse for the medical tent, pantry workers, trash collectors, security etc. Give people that sense of agency and purpose that comes along with a job and watch them grow.<br /><br /><br /><strong>We need your support to keep this vision alive. Echo Park Rise Up: A Vision of Love and Community

March 21, 2019 our lives changed drastically. My name is Dawn and my husband is Mike. We are homeless on the streets of LA County. Our needs are strictly for survival purposes. My husband is dying out here. He is an insulin dependent diabetic and suffers from chronic pain. He recently was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. He is no longer able to contribute to our survival like he wants. We have been trying to get into housing and yet we are still on the side of a freeway. I am hoping we can obtain a weekly hotel or even a cheap motorhone for us to stay in. We are awaiting disability but the process alone is lengthy. I am afraid that my husband will die if we continue to wait for outreach organizations to find us housing. I am able to take care of our daily needs for the most part but there are some days that I can't even feed us. Please help us.
