<div>[UPDATE 3/23/2026: Hi, this is Matthew-- Lyrik's boyfriend/caregiver. I've been helping run this fundraiser, and I'm including this section to clarify some stuff and make sure we abide by gofundme's TOS.

<div>As of today, Lyrik has been diagnosed with right-sided heart failure, in addition to their left-side heart failure, and has been given a prognosis of only <em>1 year</em> left to live. The plan is still to use whatever donations you give us to fund our permanent move from Arizona to California so that Lyrik can be evaluated by a hospital (one that's willing to accept Lyrik's very complex case) and potentially be put on a heart-lung transplant list.

<div>If Lyrik is put on a transplant list, the remaining donations will help cover our basic living expenses for about one year  (food, rent, transportation, etc.) and potential medical fees.

<div>If the hospital in CA doesn't accept them, we will use whatever funds we have left to look for a different transplant clinic and move there--even if we have to go across the whole country. 
</div>
<div>The support you've been giving us so far has been just utterly unimaginable. Thanks to you guys, Lyrik might actually have a chance at living. We will keep you updated on any changes to our plans that come up, and on Lyrik's condition.

<div>Hello, this is Lyrik here. I am 20 going on 21. I like painting though I suck at it. I love writing and am quite good at it. I am autistic. I love pitbulls and the color pink and I miss the smell of tamales in the morning on a weekend during christmas. I am all that and so much more. And I want to continue being that and to continue to grow. But there's something in my way. And that is my heart failure and weak lungs. I need a heart transplant and a double lung transplant to survive.

<div>Even before I was born I had medical issues. I was born with a cancerous tumor in my right kidney but somehow no one caught it until two year old me started peeing blood. Took a while and a couple hospitals but they figured out what was wrong. I had stage 4 diffuse anaplastic wilmstumor and it was acting quick. I barely survived but I did. I was cancer free.

<div>Over the past almost two decades ive been spending too much time in the cold indoors at the hospital and not enough time outside enjoying the sun blessing me with her warmth. I was robbed of my childhood and teenage years because of this and so much more. I don't want my life altogether to be taken. It's not my time yet.

<div>I have to get those transplants to live any sort of life. And I want to. No hospital in my state will take me because I'm too complex of a patient due to being a heart and lung patient, my stature (4’8, 142 cm), and my LVAD(left ventricular assist device).

<div>My next best bet is California. The hospital I've spoken to said that they're willing to do the evaluation but to even get to that step I have to move states. Which is very costly.

<div>So I'm asking for help. My goal is $50k and I hope that'll be enough. The reasons for that high of a goal:

<div>Getting a decent car (nothing fancy but will last a couple years at least)
</div>
<div>Gas to get there
</div>
<div>Moving trucks and to help pay moving workers to help me
</div>
<div>Medical supplies
</div>
<div>Money to cover meds in case there's a small lapse of insurance when I switch
</div>
<div>Food
</div>
<div>Hygiene
</div>
<div>Cleaning out the old place
</div>
<div>The deposit of the new apartment
</div>
<div>The rent of the new apartment

<div>That's all just to GET there and set up. Also, the evaluation process can be lengthy so I would have to be there a while. Then if they decide to put me on the transplant list who knows how long that'll take. So the $50k is just to get me settled and to give my boyfriend enough time to get a job to support us alongside my disability payment ( which doesn't even cover rent here in my home state).

Help Lyrik Move for Life-Saving Transplants

<div>This morning, we experienced one of many families' biggest fears. We were awoken at 2am by our oldest son screaming our pole shed/rabbit barn was on fire. Being mostly asleep, we frantically gathered ourselves and raced outside to find it already completely gone. The entire building was completely engulfed, and the roof had already collapsed. The fire company was setting up their hoses and starting to spray down the fire. Ourselves and our children couldn't do anything but watch in complete horror.

<div>This wasn't just any outbuilding; it housed our 9-year-old daughter's show rabbits (Holland Lops to be exact), along with a handful of New Zealands, guinea pigs, and one lone Netherland Dwarf that belonged to our youngest son. We lost in total 45 adult rabbits and over 35 under 8-week-old babies. Our daughter has purchased most of the rabbits (from all over the country), cages, supplies, etc., herself and has shown them throughout PA, NY, and MD. To say she is devastated is an understatement, but is there a way to explain to a 9-year-old who is wise beyond her years what happened and try to answer her when she keeps asking, "Why did this have to happen to her?" and on Christmas morning at that. Those bunnies were pets, and anyone who follows our rabbitry Facebook can see that. We spend countless hours just spending time with them, playing with them, letting them out for exercise, etc. The loss is huge, and we are trying to come to terms with what happened and get past how they suffered and we were unable to save them.

<div>Thankfully, our homeowners' insurance will cover the building itself and hopefully some of the items in the building. (The back half was rabbits, and the front was normal home items such as a generator, tools, etc.) We are hoping to be able to raise money to give to Madilynn to be able to start over once we can have the building rebuilt. <strong>She has put an unimaginable amount of blood, sweat, and tears into her bunnies, and to lose them in such a cruel way has been beyond awful.</strong> We are not asking for any money toward the structure or anything non-bunny related, but she had over $20,000 invested, so any little bit helps. <strong>All money raised will be put in her savings account and invested back into her bunnies once the building is finished.</strong>

<div>Pictures are from the damage before we have been really able to get in and see if anything is salvageable (many have asked, no, the wood stove was not lit, and it had a chimney; the roof came down, taking it down with it, and the firefighters threw it out in the yard getting the fire out), but the fire was electrical.
