Hi, my name is Sutha, and I live in the UK. I have started this fundraiser to help stray dogs and cats in Albania. Every time I have travelled around Albania, I have seen stray dogs and cats on the streets, by the side of the road, around towns and villages, looking for food or simply trying to survive. Seeing this again and again genuinely breaks my heart and is one of the reasons I wanted to do something to help. I don't see them as "just animals". To me, they are living beings just like us. They feel hunger, pain, fear and loneliness. They need love, care and safety, and I believe they deserve the best life possible too. I have family in Albania who have been helping stray animals for a long time. Even when I am back in the UK, I hear from them about the animals they come across and the situations they see. They regularly feed stray dogs and cats, have helped some receive veterinary treatment and vaccinations when needed, and have also taken stray animals into their home. Two stray dogs and two stray cats who were once strays now have a home with them. Seeing what they do for these animals, as well as seeing the situation myself whenever I travel around Albania, is what inspired me to start this fundraiser. They have been helping however they can using their own money, and I want to do my part too. I will manage the fundraiser from the UK, while the help can be provided directly in Albania. Sadly, there are still so many animals that need help. Some are abandoned, some become sick or injured, and some are hit by cars and left needing urgent treatment. It is heartbreaking knowing that an animal could be suffering simply because there isn't someone there who can afford to get them the help they need. I am starting this fundraiser with a goal of £1,000. The money raised will be used towards food, veterinary treatment, vaccinations, medication and emergency care for stray dogs and cats in Albania. If there is an injured dog that needs to see a vet, a cat that needs medication or simply an animal that is hungry, I want us to be in a position to help. I would also like to use some of the money to support local animal charities and independent rescuers in Albania. There are people already doing so much for these animals, often with limited resources, and I would love for this fundraiser to give them a helping hand too. I want to be as transparent as possible with everyone who donates. I will try my best to share pictures and updates of the animals being helped, food purchased, veterinary treatment and any support given to local charities or rescuers whenever possible. This is only a small beginning. In the future, I would love to turn this into something bigger. Maybe one day I can set up a charity or create a safe place where abandoned and vulnerable animals can be cared for, treated and hopefully find loving homes. I know I cannot save every stray dog or cat in Albania, but I don't want that to stop me from helping the ones I can. They cannot tell us when they are hungry. They cannot tell us where it hurts. They cannot ask us to take them to a vet. They can only hope that somebody notices them and chooses not to walk away. If we can feed a hungry animal, get an injured dog or cat the treatment they need, or help someone who is already rescuing these animals, then we have made a difference to at least one life.
