Deja is raising funds for her fiancé Nate, a dedicated firefighter recruit, who suffered a heart attack while training last August. Since then, life has changed in an instant. 11 months later, now that he’s back home, Nate is still facing the physical and emotional toll of recovery along with mounting medical expenses, recovery costs, and insurance-related burdens. On top of that, they are in an ongoing legal battle with the city to secure the workers compensation support he should have, and he has been placed on unpaid leave during this already overwhelming time.

 This fundraiser will help ease some of that pressure by covering <strong>immediate bills</strong> and <strong>ongoing treatment</strong> while Nate is unable to work. Every donation, no matter the size, will help provide stability as they fight for his health and his rights. <div>Julie Schindler, founder of SPEAKUp in COLOR, is a disabled mom driven by her passion for helping children overcome trauma, express their emotions, and find their voices using COLOR. In collaboration with the Celecho Orphanage in Zambia, she has transformed this vision into an impactful, community-centered mission.

<div>Breaking the Cycle of Poverty: In Zambia education is key to overcoming poverty, but local resources are limited. With a permanent school, children at Celecho will have the dedicated space and tools they need to learn, grow, and pursue dreams beyond survival.

<div>Healing through Education and SEL: Using Social Emotional Learning (SEL) methods, the School of Color will equip children with critical emotional tools, supporting their personal development alongside their academic education.
