<div>What should be the happiest time in a family’s life has turned into a nightmare for <strong>Mitch, Kara, Lakely, and Tennie</strong>. Just weeks after welcoming <strong>Fletcher</strong>, they were forced out of their home — not by fire, not by flood, but by oil seeping through their bathroom floors and flooding half of their home.

<div>At first, it seemed as if they were dealing with a water leak, but that was quickly ruled out. The mysterious dark liquid (that is still coming up from the ground a month later) was tested, and the results came back positive for oil. All signs point to an abandoned oil well beneath their home. Despite the testing, state officials (OCC) are refusing to acknowledge it as an oil leak, and no agency is stepping up to help. Yet, they did declare the home unsafe to inhabit. The family has been told they can’t live there, but their insurance won’t cover a single cent. Now, they are homeless with three kids, no answers, and no ideas of where to turn next or how to move forward. They are living in limbo.

<div>My name is Joshua Blood, and I’m reaching out to ask for support for my incredible wife, Jessie. Jessie has been diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease, caused by Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, a rare and aggressive condition that continues to destroy her lungs even with treatment. Despite her strength and determination, her lung function has dropped below 45%, and doctors have confirmed that she will need a double lung transplant within the next year to survive.

<div>Jessie is a devoted mother to our 8-year-old daughter, and a loving stepmom to our 12 and 14-year-old children. Without this transplant, she may never get to see them graduate, go to prom, or walk down the aisle. We are fighting with everything we have to give her that chance.

<div>A transplant is just the beginning of a long and demanding recovery journey. Jessie and I will need to relocate near the Mayo Clinic for 3 to 4 months after surgery for intensive follow-up care, physical therapy, and constant medical monitoring. During this time:

Being Weezy Ain’t Easy – Help Jessie Get New Lungs

<div><em>It seems the last three years, at least once a year, something goes bad. This year, it’s very bad.</em>

<div><strong><em>I’m writing this because I have active tuberculosis.</em></strong>

<div>I had a cough for a few weeks, woke up a few times with inability to breathe and knew something was wrong. However, trying to build a business after a move is not the time to slow down. But, i was getting worse. 
</div>


<div>Finally went to the ER. I should have gone sooner, but I am one stubborn person. It took my wife, who did a TB screen for her job, her test returned <strong><em>positive</em></strong>. We had no option. 
</div>

<div>When they knew or rather saw, I was very sick, all signs pointed to <strong>TB.</strong> They admitted me to the ER as well.

<div>(The cough gave me away.)

<div>The longer we were there, it became clear something was wrong.

<div>My wife finds hers is dormant. She still must do treatment, she will miss weeks of work.
</div>


<div><em>For me</em>, after an X-ray, they came for blood work, person after person asking questions, then a CT scan. Then the news of “you are staying here.”


</div>


<div>They moved me to a negative pressure room (or something along those lines, CDC cases floor) under full quarantine. Then I found out:


</div>


<div><strong>- Double pneumonia</strong>


</div>


<div><strong>- Rhinovirus</strong>


</div>


<div><strong>- Active tuberculosis</strong>


</div>


<div>I had a choice to stay in the hospital, but the hospital really wasn’t set up for an environment that an autistic person could handle, and my wife was at home sick with three kids, all showing symptoms and undergoing testing as well. 
</div>
<div>So I signed out.


</div>


<div>Right now, we are all under <strong><em>quarantine</em></strong>.


</div>


<div>Especially me, I have the tuberculosis of the tuberculosis crisis, the one where we had hospitals set up all over the nation just for tuberculosis. A very classic version from the Wild West. And because of this, we have no income.


</div>


<div><strong>I personally am looking at 3 to 6 months of treatment and recovery.</strong>


</div>


<div><strong>I am sure that $6000 is not going to be enough, but that’s where we’re going to start.</strong>

<div>As you may be aware Bill had been suffering with many health issues stemming mainly from rheumatoid arthritis over the past several years which had made daily activity for him very difficult. He was diagnosed at 17 and has lived his entire life with this debilitating autoimmune condition, having his first joint replacement surgery at 19 and brain surgery at age 54 among many other operations. Bill was left with no option but to step down from working a job that he loved as an Assistant State’s Attorney. Kevin had been Bill's full-time caregiver.

<div>Bill was strong and tenacious as he fought bravely against rheumatoid arthritis for many years with a never-ending smile. Throughout his journey, he endured countless rounds of medications, steroids and spent extensive time in hospitals in recent years. Bill's rheumatoid arthritis had eventually affected his lungs.

<div>A University of Illinois and Georgetown Law alum, Bill was a member of the legal community for 30 plus years as a Public Defender, Administrative Law Judge and Assistant State’s Attorney He was an advocate and warrior for a just and equitable legal system. Bill also served many years on the boards of the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago and the Equality Illinois Legal Advisory Board.

<div>Bill was a life-long learner who loved family and holiday gatherings, travel, books, Jeopardy, politics, great food, our dogs, Star Trek and Chaka Khan....and other great dance music!

<div>Bill is survived by his husband, Kevin; three children - Carter, Christian, and Camran; two sisters and two brothers; the Fellowship of Affirming Ministries and Gather Church families; and a host of colleagues, family and friends …..and Thor, the family companion.

<div>As we come to terms with Bill’s loss, we are faced with the daunting task of covering the expenses associated with his passing. Funeral costs, memorial arrangements, medical expenses, and many unforeseen expenses on his family and loved ones during this already difficult time.

Honoring William H. Hall IV: Support His Family's Journey

<div>Hi, my name is Aisha and I’m fundraising for my momma. For those of you who don’t already know, my mom has been receiving treatment for Pancreatic cancer since June. She is about to finish her first round of chemo on 9/13 (YAY), she’ll then be getting surgery in 4-6 weeks, followed by a final round of chemo after she’s healed from surgery. We’re blessed that the outlook for recovery is so positive; however, this has taken a huge financial toll. With treatment, my mom hasn’t been able to work full time and medical expenses keep adding up. She won’t be able to work at all when she has surgery so we humbly ask for y’all to help your favorite dance mom out in her time of need.

Help Momma Bee Beat Cancer

<div>On January 21, 2023 at approximately 1745 hours, police were dispatched to the BP Gas Station near Pontiac Lake Rd in White Lake Township. Police were meeting with citizen, Dianne Gordon who reported she found a bag of money and wanted to turn it in to the police. Officers arrived at the BP and met with her. Dianne lives in the White Lake Mobile Home Community and was walking home from work at VC’s Fresh Marketplace in Waterford, 2.5 miles away. Ms. Gordon advised that she was walking into the BP to warm up from the cold and snow, when she found a Ziplock bag on the ground. She picked up the bag and was shocked to find it filled with cash. Gordon went inside, notified the cashier, and immediately called the White Lake Police. She turned the bag over to police and never opened it (even though she could clearly see a large amount of cash inside). Dianne does not have a vehicle, and walks back and forth to VC’s daily, regardless of the Michigan elements, where she works in the deli. She self admittedly “needed the money” and “it would be life-changing” for her, but that she didn’t think twice about not turning it in. There ultimately was found to be $14,780 along with wedding cards in the bag which were the gifts of a newly married couple that day. Dianne is a perfect example of integrity and selflessness even in her own time of need. We will be working with Szott Automotive to get Dianne a vehicle with the funds raised.

<p>Hi! My name is Sheri and I am fundraising to help with the medical bills and other related expenses for Baby Jude. Jude made his very early debut 3 months ahead of time. He is doing great so far, with just the normal micro preemie setbacks that are expected. Unfortunately, he will be in the NICU for approximately 3 months before he is able to come home.
</p>
<p>Jude is the first child for Giulia and Mikey. They did everything right, but Jude was a little too anxious to see this great big world! Giulia and Mikey can both be found sitting with him in the NICU every free moment they have.
</p>
<p>As you can imagine, the hospital bill for the early c-section, Giulia's hospital stay, and Jude's ongoing hospital stay is going to be very costly. They do have insurance, but it doesn't cover everything. I am also hoping to have some funds to cover the missed work they are going to be experiencing when Jude gets to come home.
</p>
<p>Who are Giulia and Mikey? They both work full-time and both have multiple jobs. They are some of the most hardworking people I have ever met. They have been married for 4 years. They are not ones who ask for help as they work hard to be completely self sufficient. Mikey and Giulia are also very involved with animal rescue and are foster parents to numerous foster dogs and cats in their home.

Help With Jude's Medical Bills

<strong>                                                                David Benavidez Memorial<br /><br />                                                             May 25, 1995  -  October 9, 2018<br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/33636948_1539299445858433_r.jpeg" alt="33636948_1539299445858433_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br /><br /></strong> On Sunday, October 7, 2018, 23 year old David Benavidez, an avid soccer player, community volunteer, and research scientist, sought emergency care for flu-like symptoms.  His blood analysis showed several infections and also the signs of a highly aggressive type of leukemia, acute promyelocytic leukemia, which had taken over his immune system and was preventing him from fighting infection. Shockingly, he rapidly deteriorated, requiring treatment in the intensive care unit.  A short 48 hours later, on Tuesday, October 9, despite his heroic attempts to fight the infection, he tragically passed away.  <br /><br />We offer this page to aid his loving family who is devastated by this sudden and heart-breaking course of events. He was dearly loved by his family and friends, especially his beloved wife, Cecilia, his dear parents, Franklin, and Fanny, brother Gustavo, and sister, Daniela.  The money raised will be used to support his family for the funeral services.  Should the fund surpass these costs, it will be used as a scholarship fund for his wife.<br /><br />David Benavidez was an athlete, scholar, and humanitarian.  At Elmwood Park High School, he was a long-jumper on the varsity track and field team and was the running back for the football team.  To his opponents, he was known to be a fierce competitor; to his teammates he was known as a selfless, dedicated team player, always willing to go the extra mile. After graduating from high school, he continued as an assistant coach, volunteering his time at the high school for both teams and playing league soccer.  Entering the University of Illinois as a neuroscience major, he had an enormous passion for medicine and community health.  He championed the cause of affordable medical care for all and volunteered his free time as a Spanish translator to the community health clinics around the city of Chicago. As an undergraduate, he was recognized for his talent in science and joined the Transplant Biology Research Laboratory in the Department of Surgery at the University of Illinois in Chicago. His dedication to excellence and his extreme work ethic led to co-authorship in published scientific reports and, later, led to his joining the laboratory as a research scientist. During the two years after college graduation, he contributed to  many scientific abstracts and presentations. He continued his community work, providing translation services in the health clinics, as well as coaching high school sports. He was beloved by all and was known to be a quiet, gentle leader, always ready with a quick smile of encouragement or a thoughtful action of kindness.  He was asked to provide mentorship to undergraduates in the Hispanic Center for Excellence at the University of Illinois, and was in the process of applying to medical schools.  David was a young man of tremendous potential and leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.       <br /><br />No words will ever be enough to describe the light, love, and joy David brought into the lives of so many around him.  We thank God for the time we have had with our beloved David.
