My name is Pamela, and I am reaching out because my health has taken a dramatic turn for the worse. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis with bilateral Sacroiliitis and Idiopathic Lumbar Levoscoliosis with a Kyphosis component. Over the past months, my conditions have progressed to the point where I am now wheelchair and bed bound. I can't go five feet without falling because my legs give out, and I can't even sit upright without being in excruciating pain after just a couple of minutes. Most days, I have to lay flat all day just to experience some relief from the pain.
Because of this, I am unable to take care of myself or my home. Simple tasks like cooking, cleaning, showering, or even transferring out of bed have become impossible without help. A caregiver would make a world of difference for me—helping with daily living, personal care, and getting to important medical appointments. This support would allow me to maintain some independence and comfort during a very difficult time.
In Arizona, I have State Medicaid (AHCCCS), but to get insurance coverage for a caregiver, I need to qualify for ALTCS (Arizona Long-Term Care). My doctor has stated emphatically that I need this level of care, but I have been denied three times. I am turning to my community for help because I have nowhere else to turn. Any support you can give would mean the world to me and help me get the care I desperately need. Thank you for reading my story and considering a donation.
