Hi everyone, We are reaching out because we could really use a little help right now after an unexpected emergency with our cat, Tyga. A few days ago, we noticed that he was unable to urinate, which quickly became very concerning. We rushed him to the emergency veterinarian, where they discovered that he had a urinary blockage caused by crystals, a serious and potentially life-threatening condition. We admitted him on Thursday, March 19, and he had to undergo an emergency procedure. He stayed at the clinic for three days and was discharged on Sunday, March 22, so they could monitor him and make sure he was stable. It was a very stressful and emotional experience for us, but we are incredibly grateful that he received the care he needed. Unfortunately, on March 24, he was unable to urinate again for the entire day, which required another urgent visit to the vet. This resulted in additional medication and costs of $119.97. We also had to purchase his special dry food, which cost $47.82 for a relatively small bag (around 8 kg). Since this is a prescribed diet he will need long-term, this is an ongoing expense we will have to cover every time we run out. We also have another cat, Wolfie, who will be on the same diet to prevent similar issues, which means this cost will be doubled moving forward. Because of the emergency treatment, procedure, examinations, and tests, the total cost so far has come to $4,402.44. With the additional recent expenses, the overall total is now approximately $4,570. We did everything we could to cover it, but it has been a heavy and unexpected financial burden. Going forward, he will need regular veterinary visits and tests to monitor his condition and prevent this from happening again, which will continue to add to the overall cost. At this time, we are hopeful for his recovery, but we also have to prepare for the possibility that, in the worst case, he may require surgery that could cost an additional $5,000 to $6,000. We’re not asking for much, even $5 or $10, or anything you’re comfortable giving would truly help us during this time. We will be providing all receipts as proof for full transparency. Unfortunately, we are limited in how many photos we can upload here, so only some receipts are shown.
