Amid the escalating conflict in Gaza, the lives of innocent civilians have reached devastatingly inhumane conditions. I have lost 80 family members from this war, and my remaining family members have been living through a nightmare – losing their homes due to the bombings and being forced to flee their hometowns with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

My aunt Soheir is quadriplegic and can't take care of herself; she needs medical care and essential supplies that we can't afford. My uncle Ibrahim has muscular dystrophy, which causes his muscles to waste away. Because of the war, he can't walk anymore and needs costly medication. They have faced starvation and constant bombing. They have seen death in both northern and southern Gaza. These challenges are combined with the unique needs of my family members with disabilities. As they navigate these unfathomable circumstances, the need for continuous medical care and safe, stable shelter becomes more critical.

<div>‏I was displaced to the shelter center due to the tanks’ siege of us, which was the school, to save my family. It was one of the most difficult days. I was sleeping in a tent on the ground. There was no mattress to sleep on, and there was nothing to keep warm in the cold in the shadow of the siege. There was no healthy water, a shortage of water, and poor food. I even ate. Animal fodder and we made bread from it due to the lack of flour and any other necessities of life. I was living in a polluted place. There were very difficult days, and these days destroyed us psychologically. Our goal was to gain safety. During this period, my health and the health of my family deteriorated due to malnutrition. My father and mother are old and cannot afford it. I have to endure malnutrition, and because of all this pollution, I started taking inhalers for shortness of breath because I am 23 years old, and I am sad for myself. How much can you see in the pictures? This period during which we sat in the shelter center was days full of sadness, anxiety, fatigue, fear, and loss.

<div><em>I am a mother of two children, Misk (who is two years old) and Ahmed (who is one year old). Ahmed was only a month old when the war began. He is now walking on his feet and taking his first steps in life. He has grown up hearing the sound of bombing and seeing destruction, experiencing constant fear and instability. He wakes up every day terrified and falls asleep to the sounds of bombs. He has never had the chance to live his life like other young children, and he has never felt safe. Misk, too, was one year old and now she is two. You have to see her when she hears the sound of bombing, how she runs away crying, trying to find safety. How hideous this is: a two-year-old girl understands the meaning of bombing and destruction, and constantly witnesses death in front of her. </em>

<div><em>Before the war, my husband worked as a fisherman. We used to be able to get by every day, and now we can't provide Pampers (diapers) and milk for our children. They suffer from diseases and allergies due to the extreme heat, the lack of healthy food, the polluted water. These two children have grown up watching massive destruction, and they are controlled by fear of the simplest things. They have the right to live safely like the rest of the world's children. </em>

<div><em>Everything changed at the beginning of October 7th. After two weeks of war, we had to leave home, fleeing from random, staggering missiles. We left our house carrying our few clothes and personal belongings, and we took refuge in the city of Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip. The last months have been full of death, fear, and displacement. It has been like a nightmare that has destroyed our hope, our memories, and our homes. We did not expect that one day we would reach this difficult time.</em>
