<div>At 44, I carry a story that changed the course of my life. In 2020, I was an unexplained Oncology patient, which led to a final diagnosis of Sarcoma cancer in 2022 — a diagnosis that led me through multiple operations, deep uncertainty, and ultimately, a transformation in how I live.

<div>Cancer challenged not only my body but also my mindset, relationships, and sense of purpose. Recovery wasn’t just about treatment — it demanded a complete reset of how I nourished myself, mentally and physically.

<div>Through that journey, I discovered the powerful impact of community, resilience, and aligned living. Since being cancer-free, I’ve had countless conversations with other men on the same path — friends, peers, strangers — all seeking the kind of support I once longed for.

<div><strong>Brave Roots</strong> was born from that need: a space to <strong>heal</strong>, <strong>connect</strong>, and <strong>grow</strong> stronger together.

<div>Through curated retreats, meaningful conversations, and practical guidance, Brave Roots is more than a healing space — it’s a movement toward deeper <strong><em>strength, connection, and renewal.</em></strong>

<div>Over recent months, we have clarified our <strong>mission</strong>. Which is:

<div><em>‘To empower men facing cancer by providing community, knowledge, and mindset tools that help them navigate their personal journey — and to make a meaningful difference to as many people as we can.’</em>

<div>Helping men rebuild emotional resilience, identity, confidence, and inner stability as they navigate the challenges of diagnosis, treatment, and life beyond cancer.

<div><strong>In-person retreat</strong>
</div>
<div>Our next major step will be to host our first Brave Roots retreat in March. This will be a learning experience, and we are approaching it with openness and humility — aiming to learn what works well and what can be improved. What feels most important is making a start and evolving as we go, rather than waiting for perfection.

<div>For this first retreat, we are aiming for a group of between six and eight participants, an initiative completely free for the participants.
</div>

<div><strong>Fundraising</strong>
</div>
<div>We are in the process of establishing Brave Roots as a formal charity. Following this, we hope to invite support from the wider community — friends, colleagues, and the public - to help us build some initial momentum.
</div>

<div>In the longer term, our ambition is for Brave Roots to become self-sustaining through a thoughtful mix of donations and income from services such as retreats, coaching, and related offerings. For now, however, we are seeking a kick-start donation drive to help us get things moving.
</div>

<div><strong>Call for help</strong>
</div>
<div>We are hoping that we can raise some early funds to help us complete our first retreat, support 5 individuals through our 8 week transformative program and establish charity status in the UK.
</div>

<div>The funds we hope to raise will go into making our <strong>first retreat a success and we believe it will provide the foundation for us to grow </strong>and help a greater number of people who have had or are having a journey with cancer. In addition, the costs will also be used <strong>to support five individuals currently navigating Cancer</strong> through an 8 week transformative 1-1 coaching program and finally <strong>to establish the setup of the charity platform</strong> in the UK.
