<div>September 5th of this year, I was cruising right along, working a lot, trying to do everything (as usual!), and stressing a lot. Looking back, I'm surprised I didn't blow a gasket sooner!
</div>

<div>September 6th, it was a regular day like any other, out running errands, getting stuff done, when suddenly I thought I was having a stroke. I was within a mile of Eisenhower hospital and didn’t want to take any chances, so I drove right over, walked into the ER and they took me right in. After several tests and scans within 24 hours, it was determined that I had a tumor in my brain. Within a week, I went through an extensive brain surgery to have the tumor removed.

<div>For the next 29 days I remained in the hospital and rehab, followed by a couple of weeks bumbling around trying to get organized. I also happened to be moving at the same time, in addition to trying to hang on to my cymbal gig. (That should be fine BTW).
</div>
<div>They got all of the tumor perfectly. I had an amazing surgeon, However, this type of cancer is an aggressive one, so they have to stay on top of it, through at the very least, July of 2023 so far. 
</div>
<div>I’m now heading into 6 weeks of chemo and radiation. Scary stuff, as I rarely even take an aspirin. Is it going to kick my ass? I don't know….
</div>
<div>To me, it feels like chasing a ghost… but if it comes back, I'm screwed. 
</div>
<div>So, I'll be a good citizen and do what they say at this point. Though there are many opinions in play, I'm sticking with the advice of my Oncologist for now, with whom I am very comfortable with.
</div>
<div>(I fired my first one…… Some things haven't changed, lol!)
</div>

<div>So, I've never done this…. but this is quite an expensive undertaking!
</div>
<div>I'm getting organized and I should be fine, but I'm burning through money like a drunken sailor!
</div>
<div>My housing in the Palm Springs area during season is brutal, only further exacerbated by having to have Radiation treatments 5 days a week down here.
</div>
<div>I can't drive due to the meds and whatever else I'm facing.
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, I won’t be able to play any gigs for a while, as my immune system will be trashed….. not to mention, the meds are quite expensive. Though I have great insurance, I don't have prescription insurance. I'll have it starting in 2023.

<div>So, this is my story in a nutshell.

The good news is that he is stable and making good progress.  But it’s going to take time for him to get back on his feet, and he’s going to need our support. He's still in the hospital recovering in KY and will eventually end up at home in NY, undergoing rehab/therapy.

<div>Cancer is unrelenting.
</div>

<div>In 2015 at the age of 38 and as the father of an 8 month old baby boy, our friend Jon Colwell was diagnosed with stage 3B colon cancer. He had a large tumor in his colon as well as several lymph nodes affected. At that time he underwent surgery to remove the tumor and lymph nodes and by advice of his oncologist, did additional adjuvant chemotherapy for the following six months to help increase the chances of the cancer not returning.

<div>But cancer knows no rules. When least expected it can rear its ugly head again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In June Jon went to the ER as he was feeling very ill. After running a CT scan, the ER doctor confirmed his worst fear - the cancer had returned and there was a massive tumor that had engulfed the entire right lobe of his liver and several intestinal lymph nodes also looked affected. We were all in a state of shock.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Since that first diagnosis, Jon has received confirmation that the tumor on the liver is a metastatic growth from his previous colon cancer. This means that Jon's cancer is now 4th stage and likely incurable. Jon is working with his oncologist in Bend as well as a GI Oncologist at the Seattle Cancer Center to determine next steps, but further testing is still needed.
</div>

</div>
<div>Jon is that friend who can make you laugh even in the darkest of moments. He is genuine, sincere, kind, and generous. No matter what obstacles he has faced during his lifetime, he has always confronted them with deep faith and a healthy dose of dark humor. His creativity and drive lead him to build Revolution Drum, a small business that is well known in the drumming industry as a leader in innovation and design. He is deeply committed to his family and his role as a father to his now 8 year old son, Devon. Our goal in setting up this support system for Jon is so that he can continue caring for his family and being the best dad he can be for Devon for many years to come.

Jon’s Fight Against Cancer

Saturday night at Midnight just as Easter began, our neighbor 70 year old Jim Theriault, better known to most as Snakebite, had a life altering event. His home of which he has lived for more than 20 years went up in flames. We heard the first explosion and ran to his aid as he stumbled out wearing only the shirt on his back, burned and bloody. <br /><br /><br /><br /><br />After our amazing firefighters put out the fire, there was nothing left aside from his workshop and tools. He also lost his friend Lucy, an elderly Russian blue cat, even though we smashed out the windows with hopes of her escape. <br /><br /><br /><br /><br />He has been apart of this community for 45 years. The devastation of this fire and the unfortunate circumstance of not having adequate insurance, has prompted us to start this gofundme. He needs anything he can get to help rebuild his life. <br /><br /><br /><br /><br />We have some incredible people in this community looking out for him and he will have a temporary place to stay. Hopefully, he’ll be able to keep his mind busy with work and rehab from his burns/injuries until a plan is set forth to rebuild.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br />Please, if you have anything to spare, nothing is too small. Friends, minutes ago, I was at the home of Deborah DeFrance Cullen, which was just now destroyed by fire. Deborah moved to Idyllwild barely a year ago and immediately became a positive and integral part of our tight community.  She founded the Idyllwild Women’s Group, which grew immediately to almost 300 members, and graciously opened her home to all when the Idyllwild Vegan and Plant Based Community needed a location for its pot luck dinners. Deborah is not someone who moved to Idyllwild just to receive all the beauty our community has to offer, she came here  to help the community grow and thrive - to preserve and add to the beauty that was already here. What’s even more devastating about this loss is that Deborah was operating her business out of her home, offering “The Treehouse Weekend Retreat for Women”. Like so many of us who moved to Idyllwild, Deborah came here to bond with nature, while doing her best to help make our town and community a happier place for all she came in contact with. Today that dream literally was destroyed. While so much of what was lost today can never be replaced, I’m asking that we please come together to help Deborah. Please keep in mind the devastating tri-fold blow this is for Deborah. She lost her home, all of her possessions and her means of income. And you’ll be a party of our family, as we simply can’t do this alone.<br /><br />For those that don’t know the complete story, here it is. My wife Kelly is a fantastic, creative person. She has been diagnosed with several painful and debilitating genetic disorders: Ehlers Danlos, Dysautonomia, Mastocytosis, Sjogrens Syndrome and Epilepsy. These diseases affect her entire body in a variety of ways on a daily basis. She has suffered multiple complications with her heart that continue to affect her. Her muscles are in constant pain and leave her struggling with her mobility.<br /><br />Kelly spent her entire life in creative pursuit  She took her creativity into the field of film and television first as an extra and later as a Make-up artist on such projects as E.R., NCSI: Los Angles Unit, True Blood, Thor 2, Nightmare on Elm Street (reboot), Resident Evil, Chocolate News, Whats Up Rockers, and many others. <br /><br />Kelly was also an avid roller skater -- and hopes to be again. Moonlight Rollerway and World on Wheels are her stomping grounds. (In fact it was her roller skating that first grabbed my attention. Cuz Moonlight was my first roller rink.)<br /><br />Kelly is an involved mother of twin boys. She has imparted her lust for the creative upon them. They are both hilariously devoted to D&amp;D and fantasy fiction.<br /><br />Kelly’s life has been filled with many health struggles. She suffered a heart attack at 17. In her 30s, shortly after her boys her born, she beat adenoid cystic carcinoma. Later, she beat it a second time. In-between these, she had full retinal detachment, recovering 40% of her vision in her left eye and unable to see out of her right eye. During this time she continued to work, care for her kids, and left her abusive ex-husband.  <br /><br />In 2015 Kelly had a succession of illness and injury that led to CRPD, a painful nerve disorder, and a flare up that immobilized her for several months. Even the lightest touch of a blanket could harm her. The immobilization caused atrophy and further pain in her muscles. <br /><br />For years we have been going to doctors to diagnose what was happening to her. Because up until this flare, Kelly did not know that all her health issues were related. She spent the bulk of her life undiagnosed with any genetic disorders. <br /><br />The first year was a unending struggle to find doctors that would listen and take her conditions seriously. Many said that her chronic pain and illness was all in her head. Meanwhile, Kelly got to researching her symptoms and trying to figure out what was wrong with her. Which led her to a team of doctors and specialists at UCLA, Cedars, and Good Samaritan who are now taking good care of her.<br /><br />Unfortunately, the chronic pain and illness has sidelined her career in FX and beauty make-up. She has been a long standing member of Local 706. But recently, due to her disability, she has had to honorably withdrawal from the union. This was a heart-breaking moment for Kelly. Since she became disabled, we have had to rely on my income and credit to cover additional costs associated with being sick. As a single-income family, this has been a struggle from year to year. But we focus every day on moving forward.<br /><br />Late in 2015 and early 2016 Kelly entered into the aquatic program at the Brown Center of CSUN, to regain her strength and coordination. Every day is a battle for Kelly to stay as healthy as possible and to keep her pain down. The Brown Center is an important factor in this. Sept 2018, she will be starting up at the Brown Center again, to keep her muscles for deterioration.<br /><br />Some days Kelly is able to walk unaided, but not for very long periods of time. Other days, with a cane she can do fine. But when we go out of the house for extended periods of time, it important for her to have a motorized mobility devices, such as chairs and scooter. Thanks to the kind donation of a friend, Kelly has a scooter now. The scooter is great for short trips around the neighborhood or grocery store, but some situations require something that is more compact and versatile, such as when she has to get herself to the Brown Center or attend functions at her twin’s school.<br /><br />When I am on tour working, Kelly needs to be able to get around independently. Because of that, we recently had to use our credit card to purchase her a motorized wheelchair. Mobility devices like this are not covered by her Medicare and can be quite cost prohibitive. <br /><br />We are asking for help to pay for Kelly's chair and Brown Center Therapies. It is important that she continues to stay as active and healthy as possible. It keeps her muscles from atrophying, helps her body to stay healthier, and her pain levels to stay manageable.<br /><br />Kelly’s chronic illness is a life long struggle, and we appreciate any help that you might be able to contribute.<br /><br />Our goal is to raise $3000, and any money raised above that, will pay for future medical needs. Hello, My name is Marie Panzer and this is a photo of my mom, Dana Panzer. She is 64 years old and she has been living out of her car with my younger brother, Karl Panzer. Karl has Asperger's syndrome and despite being homeless, he was still able to graduate from high school. When my father and her divorced in 2007, she couldn't afford the $1200 rent for the apartment anymore and with no family to go to, her car was the only place they could live. She applied for section 8 and they told her there is a waiting list 3 to 5 years long. I am wondering why people who arrived in this country yesterday are being better taken care of by our government than people born and raised here. Right now, my mom collects some retirement and my brother collects SSI because of his condition. They spend it on hotel rooms for 2 weeks at a time and the the remainder of the month they are in the car. I moved to Buffalo, New York with my boyfriend and we found a trailer for sale out here( Tritain Valley Estates) that they can afford. The only problem is that we do not have the down payment to get them in there. Please help me give my mom and brother a home.
