<div>I took this photo with my daughter, walking our block on our first day back in the burn area. When Lucy said, "dad <strong>that beautiful fireplace is all they have left</strong>," we looked around us and saw chimneys everywhere. And not just brick chimneys, but beautiful original tile fireplaces. <strong>We knew we had to try to help but had no idea how</strong>.

<div><strong>Fortunately Cliff Douglas was way ahead of us</strong>. Cliff and his family are local business owners who sprang into action. Out of his own pocket, Cliff with help from his wife Janet and daughters Darcy and Devon began to help homeowners <strong>rescue, repair and restore whatever he could</strong>. When my neighbor Stanley and I pledged to support his efforts, a volunteer army was born.

<div>The owners of these lost homes tell us that these handmade works of art mean the world to them. They are not "just stuff," they are personal and town history. The hearth is the center of the home. Batchelder and similar tiles are world famous and were made locally, by hand, more than a hundred years ago.

<div>We are doing all we can to control costs of tile removal and repair with our all-volunteer army. <strong>We are now more than 100 locals strong</strong>, with teams identifying and locating <strong>more than 200 surviving fireplaces</strong>, conducting online and phone research and owner outreach, and most importantly, Cliff Douglas Masonry and the Douglas family have been volunteering their time and money to move quickly to rescue the tiles.

<div>Help Annika as she confronts the challenge of rebuilding her life after the trauma of the Palisades Fire which destroyed her treasured home and healing sanctuary of 20 years. When my own home was burned down in the Woolsey Fire, it was my dear friend Annika who guided me on the journey of recovery. Annika not only lost her home but also her LA therapy office where she say clients as well as her lamp workshop where she made her beloved Dancing Hula Girl Lamps for over 20 years. It’s all gone and she will need to find a new place to start over.

<div>As a Somatic Therapist, Annika has always worked to help others on their healing journeys and has contributed to her community—always a source of kindness, creativity, and support. Now, it’s our turn to show her the same.

2025 Wildfire Relief Fund

<div>After losing their Paradise home in the 2018 Camp Fire, Kristy and Michael Daneau and their family began to rebuild their life in Cohasset, where they could enjoy a more rural setting but also be close to Pleasant Valley High School, where their daughter attends and Kristy works.

<div>Unfortunately, due to the rising cost of insuring their home after the Camp Fire, they were unable to afford fire insurance, and had to rebuild their family's life in their new home with faith and hope that such a devastating loss wouldn't happen again.

<div>Tragically, on Wednesday, July 25th, as the Park Fire rapidly spread, they once again began the terrifying process of evacuating their home. Knowing from experience the danger of a spreading fire, they took no chances and left with the barest of essentials and precious mementos. After a six hour journey to evacuate to the adjacent town of Chico, they safely established their family and five dogs in temporary lodging, where they followed news of the fire, only to learn that once again, their permanent home was destroyed by fire.

<div>It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of Gary McMahon, a beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend.

<div>Gary worked as a set painter most of his life and was a proud IATSE member for nearly 40 years (Local 729 most recently). When he wasn’t working, you could find him on the golf course with his dogs, Sox &amp; Mable, at his heels. Gary was a devout LA Kings &amp; LA Dodgers fan and would talk about the current state of “his” teams for as long as you would let him. Gary continually kept those around him entertained with his stories, funny knick-knacks, and spontaneous videos.

<div>Gary is survived by his daughter Kendra McMahon, two grandchildren, Ethan and Stetson, and his siblings Bob McMahon, Darlene Beardsley, Jeff McMahon, and Carolyn Hazuka. As well as his loyal companions: Sox, Mable, and Ellie.

<div>Unfortunately, Kendra and her family, who reside out of state, experienced a car breakdown during their trip to Gary’s home. In Loving Memory of Gary McMahon

<div>I’m writing this with a broken heart, an utterly devastated soul, and a post no family member should ever have to write. With tears in my eyes and a heavy heart I share with you that on January 15th, 2023, we tragically lost another young life to one of America’s most recent and devastating epidemics called “fentanyl” we lost our 16-year-old Nephew, Aden Anderson to fentanyl poisoning. We never got to say goodbye, never got a last hug or to tell him how much we love him. Aden was bright, funny, and had a smile that would light up the room. He was not a drug user or a drug addict he was a beautiful person with a huge heart for everyone. He made a bad decision that cost him his life.

<div> As you can imagine, No one “saves” for the preparation of funeral expenses to bury their young child, therefore the financial burden is a significant one to the family. We started the Go Fund Me page, with the hopes that we would be able to provide a beautiful memorial for my nephew and provide his parents with the peace and grace of mourning the loss of their son without the financial strain that comes with planning a service. Lynne and her family very narrowly escaped physical harm, and for that we are very, very grateful. The home, however, was completely burned - with 59 firefighters taking 65 minutes to extinguish the flames - and immediately red-tagged by the LAFD, necessitating that Lynne leave the place she rents and loves. Even more distressing is that Lynne lost her entire lifetime of possessions, mementos, all equipment for her business including her laptop and iPad, all of her clothing and basic necessities, and all household items. With firefighters' help, she was able to pull a few damaged sentimental belongings from the wreckage. Everything else is gone. <em>*images below*</em>

Since then, families from across the nation from other mass shootings including Tucson, Vegas, Alturas, Santa Barbara (Isla Vista), Roseburg, and Orlando Pulse, Boulder and others have endorsed the National Compassion Fund.

Texas Elementary School Shooting Victims Fund

<div>In October of 2021, after months of mysterious and worsening symptoms, our dear friend Noël Bennetto was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer at age 38. Her doctors estimated she has likely 6 months to a year to live, and she began treatment immediately. As a non-smoker, this diagnosis was a complete shock. She is a bright, loving, and inspiring care-giver to so many in her community and her family and friends are devastated.

<div>     Noël is a self employed seamstress, maker, designer, and multidisciplinary artist who relies on the holidays for the bulk of her income. In the middle of her busiest season, she had to put work aside to undergo a series of grueling tests which lead to her very intense diagnosis. Noël is not only fighting for her life battling cancer, she also must survive the day-to-day, pay for ongoing treatment costs, living expenses, food, and housing. Her quality of life would also be improved and likely extended if she had the means to pursue complementary healing therapies while undergoing chemotherapy. Over these last months she has depleted her savings just staying afloat. Noël needs our help to get through this trying time.
