My mother is 77 years old and has faced more challenges than most. Ten years ago, she lost the love of her life, my father, and since then, she has taken in two of her adult children who are struggling with serious health issues. One has suffered ten strokes, and the other lives with schizophrenia. Despite her own grief and age, she continues to care for her family with unwavering strength.
Over the years, her home has slowly been destroyed. The backyard, once a place where she and my father would sit for hours and dream together, is now unsafe. She hired landscapers to fix it, but their sloppy work made things worse. The grass is patchy, uneven, and dangerous to walk on, and the fence in the front is falling apart. The sprinkler system was poorly installed, leaving most of the yard dead and dry. Inside, the kitchen is falling apart—cabinet doors are off their hinges, drawers are warped, and there’s no ventilation above the oven, which is especially dangerous for her asthma. I try to repair what I can, but as a single mom of three boys with my own health issues, I can only do so much.
Funds raised will go toward replacing the front fence, leveling and replanting the yard with safe, beautiful perennials, fixing the sprinkler system, and fully renovating the kitchen with new cabinets, proper ventilation, and new appliances. This will help restore her home to a safe and comfortable place, giving her back the space she once cherished with my father and making daily life healthier for her and her family.
Any help would mean so much to us. She’d be getting closer to the plans and dreams she had for their future with my father. We understand that nowadays is hard to help but anything will help. Sharing is also a big help. Thank you all.
