<div>After battling melanoma in various stages (starting at age 26), it has now progressed to stage 4 metastatic melanoma.

<div>I am the poster child for why we need MEDICARE FOR ALL! I'll tell my story below. Please share it for me and help if you're able. I am grateful for the help, though I wish it wasn't necessary for me to even ask. Thank you.

<div>In 2008, I noticed a mole on my abdomen began to grow and change. It reached the size of about a quarter, so I went to my dermatologist who decided to do a punch biopsy on it. It came back positive for melanoma, so I had wide excision surgery. A surgical oncologist removed the mole and the surrounding skin all the way down to my abdominal wall. Unfortunately, when the pathology came back, it showed that the margins weren't clear so I had a second surgery to take even more skin, leaving me with a scar about 6 inches long on my lower left abdomen. I was grateful to have it gone, so the scar didn't bother me. I was diagnosed with stage 1b melanoma and given a 15% chance it would ever return or progress.

<div>Flash forward to 2017 (NINE years later). At this point, I was a 35-year-old mom to a 2-year-old boy and 5-year-old girl. One Saturday afternoon, I was making sandwiches for the kids and leaned against the counter. Something hurt in my lower left groin, so I went into the bathroom to feel around and see what I could find. I noticed that there was a large, hard spot in the crease of my leg, so I went to urgent care to have it looked at. The doctor at urgent care said that she believed it to be a lymph node that was angry for some reason, but that the reason was likely an infection or any other number of benign things. However, given my history with melanoma, she referred me to have a fine needle aspiration biopsy the following week just to make sure.

<div>When I went in for the fine needle aspiration, the doctor removed a piece of the lymph node to be tested. He told me that the tissue was pink, which to him looked healthy. He said typically in cases of melanoma that has metastasized, the tissue can look black, so he wasn't altogether worried. And neither was I.

<div>The results, however, came back and hit me like a ton of bricks. Positive for melanoma.  Because it had metastasized, but was still local to my original mole (lower left abdomen and groin), it automatically meant I progressed to stage 3a. I was referred to a surgical oncologist and scheduled for Lymph Node Dissection surgery. They removed several of the lymph nodes in the area that looked diseased and allowed me to keep some of the healthy looking ones due to the risk of lymphedema in my left leg (important because I was so young and active). Three of the removed nodes came back positive for melanoma.

<div>After surgery, I was referred to a medical oncologist to complete adjuvant therapy in hopes that we could prevent recurrence in the future. The summer of 2017 was brutal. The plan was for me to take 4 infusions of an immunotherapy drug called Yervoy, spaced 3 weeks apart. The infusions (and the benefits) stacked each time, so after my third infusion, I had reached peak level toxicity and the side effects were brutal. I couldn’t eat anything. I couldn’t even drink water. I lost 40 lbs. in the matter of about 4 weeks. I spent a week in the hospital. They couldn’t figure out what was wrong at first, but eventually they sent a scope down my throat and discovered that the drug had damaged my stomach lining to the point that I was bleeding internally. They spent the rest of the week trying to help me begin the healing process, but it was about 3 months before I felt back to “normal”.

<div>Because the toxicity from the Yervoy nearly killed me, my doctor said that I couldn’t take the 4th infusion because he was afraid of what would come next. He also said that my strong reaction could mean that I had total immune response to the drug and that might mean it worked well. So, he took me off immunotherapy and I spent 3 months off of medication in August. After 3 months, he gave me a full body PET scan again and it came back CLEAR! I was ecstatic, feeling like I could put this awful chapter behind me. Little did I know, it would only be a matter of months before the nightmare started again.

<div>In May 2018, I felt another hard spot in my lower left groin. I knew what that likely meant so I got in touch with my oncologist who put a rush on another biopsy. Turns out, it was melanoma again (still localized to the lower left groin/abdomen). My surgical oncologist removed a few more lymph nodes during surgery and two of them came back positive for melanoma. This meant I was moving from Stage 3a to 3b because of the number of infected lymph nodes.

<div>In August 2018, I did 4 weeks of daily radiation focused on the lower left abdomen and groin in hopes it would kill anything that was still in transit or lingering. On September 1, I started taking an oral immunotherapy drug combination - Tafinlar and Mekinist. I was able to take this drug for nearly a year before the toxicity caught up to me. My oncologist took me off the medicine and went back to maintenance PET scans every 3 or 4 months to make sure nothing was popping back up. Eventually I was able to space these scans out to 6 months and then a year. For nearly 6 years, I lived in a world where I had beaten cancer. Unfortunately, melanoma wasn’t done with me yet.

<div>In April 2025, I started to have severe pain in my lower right back and hip. I was 43 at this point, so I figured I was aging and that perhaps it was sciatic pain. It would come and go, so I didn’t think to see a doctor until a few weeks later when the pain worsened, spread to my right shoulder, and was constant. I went to urgent care and they did x-rays of my shoulder and hip. The doctor came back and told me that he didn’t see anything significant, no injury or anything, and sent me home with instructions to treat with acetaminophen and another anti-inflammatory.

<div>About an hour after I returned home, a nurse called me from the urgent care department and told me that another physician had taken a look at my x-rays and that he saw something on the periphery in what appeared to be my lung. Given my cancer history, he recommended that I get an x-ray of my chest facing forward. So… I did and I was unprepared for what came next. My x-ray showed a 7 cm mass in my right lung. I was then immediately referred for a CT to confirm this and to see my oncologist.

<div>As I waited for these appointments, the pain grew exponentially worse. One day, I came home from school and collapsed on the couch. I was in so much pain, I couldn’t stand it. I called my oncologist and he told me to go to the Emergency Room immediately so that I could at least get some relief. So, my husband took me to the ER. The ER admitted me to the hospital and they got my pain under control.

<div>While I was in the hospital, my oncologist sent orders for a variety of scans (CT, PET, brain MRI). It was discovered that I have a tumors in my brain, my lower lumbar spine, my scapula, my left ovary, my lung, my liver, one kidney, in my right hip bone/femur, and in my right jawbone. Stage 4 metastatic melanoma had finally caught up to me.  After receiving this devastating news, I was discharged from the hospital after a week and sent home to wait for the next steps.

<div>Unfortunately, I was back in the hospital a day later (for another week long stay) because my insurance was refusing to pay for the oxycodone the hospital prescribed upon discharge. 

</div>

<div>When I returned to the hospital via ambulance, it took them 3 doses of dilaudid and 2 doses of morphine just to get my pain under control. When I was eventually successfully discharged it was with high dose fentanyl patches just so I could function and not be writhing in pain. 

</div>

<div>I spent this entire summer at home regaining strength and beginning my targeted medications (Braftovi and Mektovi) that hopefully will give me a better quality and prolonging of life. I haven’t had my first scans after beginning my medicine, but I am hopeful that they are working. My children are 11 and (nearly) 14 now and my goal is to live my life to the fullest and be here to see all of their accomplishments and milestones.

<div>I don’t know what is next for me, but I hope it is a full life. No matter what, I don’t want my illness to be the reason my family suffers. Battling cancer for the last 17 years has bankrupted us and the costs just keep rising. One test (Signatera) that helps my doctor keep track of my tumor load and how well my treatment is working cost almost $22,000. Insurance would only cover $3,000 so I am left with a bill for just over $19,000.

<p>Bert, an 85 year old Navy Veteran who served his country and beat lung cancer, has been employed by Uber Eats Since April of 2025 to help pay for his wife's medical care. Committing to working 5 days a week for 7 to 8 hours each day so he can also pay monthly living expenses which have increased due to inflation and a staggering amount of credit card debt obtained from medical care for his wife Rae who is now dealing with the beginning stages of Dementia. Bert has now been forced to adjust his work schedule to X3 days per week because of the increased gas prices, which have made it difficult for him to afford fuel for his commute. The little money he made in tips has now been cut in half at no fault of his own. Bert has sent his resume out numerous times with no call backs. Unfortunately, his age is against him.

<p>Bert has two problematic hips which make his mobility a problem most of the time and has also undergone surgery to remove half of a lung due to cancer. His 81 year old wife Rae accompanies him to work as she also struggles with balance issues and requires constant supervision to prevent any potential falls or injuries. 
</p><br />
<p>He is currently overwhelmed with various responsibilities and is facing significant financial concerns on top of everything. Regrettably, Bert has sustained injuries while making deliveries and climbing stairs. 
</p>
<p>One incident resulted in two black eyes and a very large contusion on his forehead as seen in the picture above. After suffering these injuries, I decided to create a fundraiser so Bert can end his Uber Eats ordeal.

<p>I have initiated a fundraiser to support Bert in achieving the quality of life and dignity he deserves and to alleviate the financial burden of paying off a mortgage on his modest condo, managing maxed-out credit cards from medical expenses for Rae, and covering exorbitant monthly medication costs for himself and his wife. Some of the medications are essential for his wife's well-being. Please help spread the word as he is in need of support. Thank you for sharing.

<div>Tonight, my mother, Emine Emanet, is finally home. After 15 painful days in detention, she has been released and reunited with our family. These past days have been some of the hardest we’ve ever faced, but the kindness of our community has helped us stay strong. <div>On February 25, ICE agents came to our family restaurant, Jersey Kebab, and took both of my parents, Celal and Emine, without warning or a warrant. For years, they have been waiting on a decision from immigration services, doing everything right while building a life here. Our restaurant isn’t just a business—it’s a second home, a place where my parents welcome everyone, no matter their situation. They work from morning until night, serving food and kindness to anyone who walks through the door.

<div>When the original fund was started, we had no clue it would reach so many people and would touch so many hearts. Thank you for being a part of our family, and thank you for donating to keep our family going.

<div>When mom was taken away to Elizabeth Detention Center, Jersey Kebab closed because without her, the restaurant (and our family) cannot function. Our mom returned home on Wednesday, March 12 on bail and several members of our family are being placed into further legal proceedings. Not only has this helped our family financially, this fundraiser was submitted as evidence to the judge that the Emanet family is supported by the local community. That being said, we are working to open up Jersey Kebab as soon as possible and get back to work.

This experience has been hard on our family but with your help, we can make it easier for others. <div>During the morning hours of Tuesday, February 25, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) warrantlessly picked up members of the Emanet family, Celal and Emine Emanet, from Jersey Kebab, located at 150 Haddon Avenue, Haddon Township, NJ 08108.
</div>

<div>The Emanet family has an open case with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and has been waiting since 2016 for a decision on their case. USCIS has not decided whether to approve or deny their green card application for the past 9 years. While waiting for their case to be decided upon, Celal and Emine Emanet were left without a status.
</div>

<div>They are contributing members of society and taxpayers with a five-year valid business license. Celal and Emine own and operate Jersey Kebab, a beloved Mediterranean restaurant across from the Haddon Township Municipality and Police building. The husband-and-wife pair own and manage the restaurant together, a hub for the community, and regularly feed underprivileged members of the community - the sign on the door stating, “Free to anyone with a disability, homeless, or simply cannot afford it.” The couple start prep work together at 9 am and close up shop at 8:30 pm.

<div>At the end of the night, Celal and Emine come back home where they live with their four children (Muhammed, Zeynep, Hamza, Hale), daughter-in-law (Sabina), two grandchildren (Ali and Omer), and two cats (Oreo and Almond). Muhammed (25), the manager at Jersey Kebab, who attended Rutgers-Camden, is a husband and father to two children. Zeynep (23) is a Swarthmore College graduate and works at a local civil rights nonprofit organization. Their younger son, Hamza (15), and younger daughter, Hale (13), cannot imagine life without mom and dad together.

<div>While Celal has been released from custody with an ankle monitor, Emine has been placed into the Elizabeth Detention Center in Elizabeth, New Jersey, awaiting her bond trial. This situation is especially devastating for their 15-year-old son, Hamza, who has autism.
</div>

<div>Deporting Emine would cause Hamza immense distress, as he only speaks limited Turkish and relies on the specialized services available to him here in New Jersey. Uprooting him from this support system would have severe consequences for his well-being.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Emine is not a flight risk - she is a mother, community member, and neighbor. Neither Celal nor Emine have criminal records or prior orders of removal by an immigration judge. She needs to be released on bond so she can return home. Until she is released, the restaurant, which is their main source of income, is closed. <strong>So please help out any way you can.</strong>

<div>On Friday, August 30, 2024, I was terminated from the Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Park Planning after alerting the public regarding a secret, fast-tracked plan to build golf courses, 350-room hotels, disc golf courts, and pickleball courts within critical habitats across 9 of our Florida State Parks. These atrocious proposals, which were not going to be released until the day before the scheduled public meetings, have been suspended for now, and we are all feeling great about that. As a state employee and single dad working a weekend side-job, I knew that sounding the alarm was a risky move. However, I saw myself as a public servant first and felt that it was the only ethical thing to do. This issue became far more important than any individual’s employment status with DEP. As I seek a path forward professionally in coming days and weeks, I would be incredibly grateful for anyone willing to lend a hand; any amount would be appreciated.

<div>I have been with the Office of Park Planning for over two years, serving with dedication while building my skills as a cartographer and specializing in maps of Florida’s mosaic of conservation lands, especially Florida State Parks. After the best two years of my professional career, where I built great relationships with Florida Park Service staff all over the state and enjoyed mapping out a significant swath of our amazing park system, I was directed to create nine maps depicting shocking and destructive infrastructure proposals, while keeping quiet as they were pushed through an accelerated and under-the-radar public engagement process. My decision to make my maps public, along with the accompanying proposal summaries, ended my career with the Florida Park Service. Whether I start my own business or join a more conservation-minded organization, I’m ready to get back to work as a professional cartographer!

Support an Ethical Whistleblower's New Start

<div>Many of you only know Stormy Daniels through the headlines; you’ve heard her described as a porn star, witness, victim, and villain. But as her friends, we would like to introduce you to the Stormy we know. Unlike much of the rest of the world, the descriptions we use to tell others about Stormy are mother, protector, advocate, equestrian, author, filmmaker, and friend. We often put "mother" first, not because that’s all she is, but because that particular job motivates everything else she does. As our friend, Stormy has fought an epic tale of David vs. Goliath, and we are the ones she has called, texted, and sought advice from. We have had front-row seats to the parts of this story that don’t fit neatly into click-bait headlines. You have gotten "Key witness in Trump case: a porn star," whereas those of us who really know her have seen the longer-running realities, like Stormy Daniels not knowing whether or not her family will have a home come August and calling us at midnight, tears in her eyes, trying to navigate a truly unprecedented situation.

We have also watched in horror as the justice system has continually failed our friend.

<div>One of the most powerful men in the world has been given every concession imaginable, while the misguided harlot is thrown to the side with a “thank you for your service” muttered under the breath of the collective conscience of our nation. We know that so many of you have wanted to support her but haven’t known how. Many of you have shown up in support at events, outside the courthouses, and sent thousands of emails sharing your gratitude for the sacrifices that Stormy has made to bring about justice and expose the tyranny happening in our nation. A day will come when all will be made right, but if history has taught us anything, sometimes those who sacrificed the most never get to see that day with us.

Stormy Daniels’ fight has just begun. Since the verdict was announced on May 30, 2024, she’s received countless death threats. The New York Post doxed her by leaking her home address, and the legal battles have just begun. It’s become unsafe for her family and her pets. Her horses have been shot twice now by protesters and even mainstream media paparazzi trying to provoke her out of her home. As if that’s not bad enough, Trump is still tangling her up in lawsuits in an effort to bleed her dry financially because his cult of minions will foot the bill for him to do so.

<div><span> Recently, Stormy was sent discovery documents to aid in collection of the attorney fee judgment. It is standard practice to request a list of assets, accounts, property, etc. HOWEVER, the forms Stormy was given also required that she provide her minor child’s personal information including legal name, father’s address and more. This information is not only a violation of a child’s privacy but has the potential of becoming very real and immediate danger. In response to her own doxing and fearing for her daughter’s safety, Stormy declined to provide those details unless a confidentiality agreement was granted. The court denied her request and a motion to compel hearing scheduled. No mother should be forced to choose between protecting her innocent child and being held in contempt of court.</span><br />

<div>It would be easy to fill this page with countless details, anecdotes, and newspaper articles, but this is a simple plea. If you are here reading this, you are likely on one of two sides of this issue: you are a gawker who is simply here to mock and ridicule, or you are here because you have been a long-time supporter of Stormy and you want to know what actionable steps you can take to make a difference. If you are the latter, we want to make that very simple for you. We aren’t publicists or lawyers, just concerned friends who want to keep someone we love safe, that’s it.

<div> Stormy needs help to relocate her family to somewhere they can feel safe and live life on their terms. She needs assistance to be able to continue to pay the mounting court fees so that Trump doesn’t just win because his pocketbook seems endless. To date, Stormy has had to foot the bill for all of this, and it has depleted her resources and savings. There is currently a $600,000 judgment against Stormy for Trump’s legal fees from a case that was dismissed. This is a coded action in an attempt to make her family lose their house and face homelessness or worse. It’s paramount that we prevent this from happening! Each dollar we raise will be a validation that we also care about Stormy and are willing to continue this fight. Trump may have a mega fundraising operation to keep him from facing consequences, but that shouldn’t mean that Stormy becomes the sacrificial lamb of a corrupt system.

Despite all of these setbacks, Stormy has continued in this fight because she firmly believes in this country, its possibilities, and what we can accomplish together as a nation if we hold firm to the principles of democracy which are the bedrock of our Republic.

Should we fail here, we fear, Doctor Franklin, that we have chosen now, some 250 years later, a monarchy.<br />

<div>to his low platelet count and high risk for bleeding. He recovered and came home.

<div>revisions. A Y90 procedure, radiation seeds implant, and ablation of the liver for the

This person is a seasoned grifter and has done this very same thing to other people in the West Village and beyond, using her maiden name (Kate Gladstone), and has also been indicted on felonies and arrested for violating protection orders under her legal married name (Katherine Klein). Because of the coronavirus blanket eviction moratorium this grifter was awarded a Housing court order allowing her to come back into Heidi’s small apartment, even though the grifter left for over two weeks with no word in July. The judge is allowing this grifter to endanger Heidi’s life further! <br /><br />Heidi  has spent all her money and energy in the past year fighting this squatter and now has lost her job due to the pandemic,  has had to borrow thousands of dollars for legal fees, and is literally down to a skeleton weekly budget for basic bills and food while she tries to protect her home. <div>As many of you are aware, Larry Blustein, has been suffering with a severe case of Covid. (As of today Larry is finally home). With everyone’s prayers Larry will hopefully get through this and will be back on the sidelines and in the studio making a difference as he has done for thousands of high school athletes for the last 40 years. Larry and his wife are very private people when it comes to their personal lives and have a difficult time asking for help. When Larry is finally able to come home he will need a lot of medical assistance and home care of which insurance will cover very little. His hospital bills are mounting up and now is the time for all of us to say thank you for all that he has done for so many.

<div>For those of you that don’t know me, Larry and I have known each other, here in South Florida, for over forty years.  I was a football and basketball coach at Coral Gables High and then spent 25 years as the school’s athletic director.  I am currently The Director of Outreach and Development for the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association.  Larry and I are currently involved with the Orange Bowl Football Showcase and a documentary that is about the history of Dade County High School Football.

<div><strong>4 Years ago: during COVID 19,</strong> YOU showed us an overwhelming wave of kindness by donating to our GoFundMe campaign. With the funds we collected from you, we were able to pay the overdue rent, stabilize the Restaurant, keeping the doors open and operating for 4 years, however, it was quite evident that we were not operating at sustainable levels. We pushed through anyway and continued to serve our customers and our community, including providing hot meals for our weekly feedings provided for the homeless and food insecure populations, and training youth in our community.

<div>Everything came to a halt on March 30, where it was just not possible to continue with all the broken pieces. A broken A/C, broken equipment and skyrocketing inflation. We decided to close Lauderhill to renovate the space and bring it back with an updated environment for you our customers and community.

<div>We started the renovations and two weeks in, we had a water main break which ate up most of our renovation budget. We are current with the rent, however, we would like to continue the renovation process and we are asking you to consider being a generous donor once again.

Jerk Machine creates a Culinary & Entrepreneurial Incubator

Hello Family, Friends snd Supporters!!  Thank you so much for all the love and prayers you have been sending me.   This has been a long journey for me and my family.   But God!!! I will continue to walk in His path for me.  Trusting Him is all I know to do.  
I am doing well and adjusting to the technology that has come out since I was locked up.  
I can’t begin to explain how much I miss my mother, Lola Flowers, she was my rock and my #1 supporter. It hurt like crazy not being able to have her here with me.   My mom was someone I could talk to whenever things got tough and she always knew what to say to make me feel better. It has really been hard for me since her death but I know she would want me to keep on pressing on so I  must continue to keep my hands in God’s hand and never give up. Continue on her legacy!!

On 11/09/2020 (her Birthday) my 14 year old Granddaughter Honestie  was taken to Helen Devos Children’s Hospital by my daughter. Honestie tested positive for COVID-19 and was sent home. Later that evening Honestie was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, since then Honestie was moved to ICU. She has had a iron transfusion, she’s oxygen now but they are talking about putting her on a ventilator and possibly a feeding tube, she’s receiving a blood transfusion as I write this. Honestie has liquid that is collecting in her stomach and they have no idea where it’s coming from since she is not taking any food or drink by mouth. Because of this she may have to have surgery. I’m asking for donations to help my daughter get through this, obviously she has not been able to work as a frontliner she is a NA at a local nursing home. COVID-19 Sucks!

I ask you to imagine our Las Vegas Community without the resources of its favorite and popular bookstore; namely, Amber Unicorn Books that Lou and Myrna Donato have owned and operated for nearly 40 years.  Amber Unicorn is the area's largest independent used bookstore where residents and visitors can sell, trade, and buy books.  As bleak a scenario as this presents, it has sadly become a reality if the current economic situation does not improve.<br /><br />Two years ago, Trader Joe's abruptly vacated its tenancy, leaving the shopping center without an anchor store, which in turn delivered a huge blow to Amber Unicorn.  The store experienced a 30% drop in revenue that has never been recovered.  Shortly after, a devastating loss was suffered in the unexpected death of Lou Donato, a much beloved and internationally respected bookseller and owner.  Many of you will remember Lou's warm welcome to every customer, never too busy for conversation or to share his expertise.<br /><br />While Lou typically manned the "front of the house", Myrna focused on the administration and business affairs.  Upon Lou's untimely passing, Myrna's sole vision was to honor her husband's legacy by keeping the doors open and continuing to extend the same services to the growing community they both loved.<br /><br />While Myrna has done an exemplary job in maintaining the business, there are obstacles, outside of her control, that present dramatic challenges.  Staff and expenses have been reduced, and 25% sales are continuously run to boost revenue.  However, vacancies in the shopping center continue to rise with the recent announcement that US Bank (which shares our parking lot) will close this fall.  Without pedestrian traffic from other tenants, Amber Unicorn has become a destination spot, making business unpredictable and always in the decline.  The viability of the store to operate for the immediate future is  questionable, which could result in a potential sale of the business or its closure.  <br /><br />This GoFundMe campaign is a humble appeal to the beloved customers, friends, and patrons, and to all who realize that every community needs a bookstore like Amber Unicorn in order to thrive.  Any contribution is very much appreciated and will go towards the operating expenses and the endeavor to keep Amber Unicorn a place where people come to engage their imaginations and knowledge.

On Wednesday, January 29, 2020, John made a visit to the ER and was diagnosed with the Flu and slight signs of pneumonia.  He was sent home after IV fluids and antibiotics.   Saturday, February 1, John was transported to the hospital due to very high fever and was admitted as his flu &amp; pneumonia symptoms were getting worse.  About 2 am on Sunday morning, he was moved to an ICU unit and put on a ventilator because he needed help breathing.  Despite heavy antibiotics and breathing treatments, the infection worsened.  The infection was very aggressive and attacked his lung tissue. His lungs were no longer able to make the gas exchange to put oxygen into his blood and remove carbon dioxide and as a result went into respiratory failure.  On Monday, the 3rd, John was placed on, life support to take over the function of the lungs.  As more test results are coming in, they have added a diagnosis of severe H1N1 virus.  Doctors are saying this is a really bad flu season and John's case is the worse that they have seen.<br /><br />As of today, February 11, doctors are optimistic, but he remains in ICU and on life support (9 days, so far).   He continues to run a fever off and on and is needing an extraordinary amount of sedation to keep him comfortable.  He is in the right place as the Cleveland Clinic has doctors and nurses that specialize in the ECMO use in adults.  It requires  multiple people to monitor him as well as the machines constantly.  <br /><br />The doctors are telling the family that although they are optimistic, he remains very sick and in critical condition and that this is going to continue to be a slow process.  As you can imagine, the medical costs are quickly mounting and will continue.  Overwhelming to say the least especially with the loss of his income.<br /><br />John is always first in line to help someone in need, and would never imagine being in the situation of needing help himself. He makes himself available to help friends and family and has an especially soft spot for military personnel, veterans, firefighters, and police officers.  He volunteers his time as an umpire in softball tournaments raising money for people in need.  One of his favorites is the Wounded Warriors.<br /><br />I am launching this Go Fund Me Campaign on behalf of my brother and his wife Sharon.   Many people are reaching out and asking what they can do to help, so this is a first step in efforts to ease some of the burden and stress that a catastrophic medical emergency such as this can have on a family.  This will allow Sharon to focus on John's healing and recovery, and look after the kids.<br /><br /><strong>So put on your rally cap (preferably a Cubs cap) for John.</strong>  Any financial contribution you can offer will go directly toward medical costs and living expenses while John is unable to work .   Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers. <strong> Get your flu shot!!!!<br /><br /></strong>We are updating John Hinz facebook page twice a day if you would like to check in on him.

Hi everyone,<br /><br />As many of you are already aware, Ed was admitted to the hospital recently where he spent over a week being poked and prodded at by doctors and nurses who were trying to figure out what was going on. He was in there for over a week and was as patient as a person could be while awaiting results. <br /><br />Ed was discharged from the hospital the other day. He began his outpatient treatment today. Ed is battling stage IV adenocarcinoma of the lung. He will be receiving radiation 4 times a week and chemotherapy once a week. When I spoke with Ed, they were unsure of how long he will have to have the radiation and chemo. Even with this news, Ed is still as upbeat and positive as one can be. We all know this man is a fighter. <br /><br />What we also know is that EVERYONE loves this guy. So many people have reached out to help. We have raised money with fundraisers but that's not enough!! Everyone in this industry knows that the majority of us do not have health insurance, and we also know that every single day that you are unable to work is money missing out of your pocket. These are such stressful factors on their own but when you are looking at extended treatment for an illness, those thoughts and the stress that comes from them is amplified. <strong>My daughter.  The love of my life a shining star. She is suffering from anorexia nervosa. She is a  just a child.   I almost lost her once.  She lost 120 pounds and almost died. She was inpatient in Maryland at one time.<br /> Recently, with the help  of caring people like yourselves,  I have purchased health insurance for Hannah.
