<div>On 1 January 2026, I’ll set off from the Shetland Islands on a ten-month, 4,200km walk through Scotland, England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland, finishing in Galway in October 2026.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This journey is a <strong><em>living symbol of mental health</em></strong> — starting in the darkness of winter and moving, step by step, toward brighter days.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Along the way, I’ll <strong><em>stop in towns and cities to give talks</em></strong> in workplaces, schools, and community groups, sharing my own 50-plus years of lived experience of mental health, recovery, and neurodiversity.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Mental health matters to all of us. I’m walking to raise awareness and funds for <strong>four incredible charities</strong> that provide vital mental-health support across the UK and Ireland:

<div>In the early hours of Thursday 7th of April 2022, the Mathieson family lock-up was broken into in Fife and 3 Motorbikes stolen. One of which belonged to semi -pro rider 11 year old Travis. To say he is crushed is an understatement. Adding further to the blow is the fact that their insurance won't cover the loss which in turn is even more devastating as the total worth of the 3 bikes stolen amounts to around £20,000. Travis is a future star and races regularly, wins trophies and is very quickly becoming more and more successful. But this could all change now that he no longer has a bike. Please help him and support so we can make this wee laddies dreams stop turning into a nightmare.

Stuart Gascoynes farewell  ( gasy, gazza)

Today I am writing this on behalf of my daughter, something which I never thought I would have to do.<br /><br />Sadly my daughters father has passed away under difficult circumstances. He found himself trapped in a dark place from a young age and turned to substance abuse, which then led to him spending several years in prison. Any time he would be released, normal life was always a challenge from simple things like prices, to more difficult things such as setting up a bank account, finding somewhere to live, registering with a local GP... All these things were never thought of due to time in prison, were these things were managed by a support system. <br /><br />This has been the longest period of time he hasn’t returned to prison, after making real efforts to turn his life around. He found love in his life, made real efforts to build a relationship with my daughter and wished to be in the life of his grandchild. Unfortunately his partner passed away and the darkness began to creep in really quickly, thus leading to substance abuse and his past becoming to the forefront of his mind.<br /><br />Over the last few years he has been in and out of hospital due to several incidents overdosing and having accidents resulting in physical damage. My daughter tried her best to support her father but the darkness become to much, she had to make a difficult choice for her own sake and her young daughter. She agreed she would always be there if he ever needed her, but whilst involved with substances and that life, she would have to stay at a distance to protect herself and her daughter.<br /><br />This brings us to where we are now. My daughter hasn’t heard from her father for several months but waited for that knock at the door, which unfortunately came as she is her fathers next of kin.<br /><br />Her father never had any savings or life insurance sorted out for this potential outcome. This has now fallen on her to pay for his funeral. She has recently welcomed a new born child into the world. Due to the current situation with the pandemic, this is an expense she simply doesn’t have the finances to support while on maternity leave. She wishes to say goodbye to her father in a dignified and respectable way. He may have had a lot of demons in his life, but everyone is deserving of a dignified farewell. Despite all his demons, when he was in a good place, he was the most loving father you could ask for.<br /><br />I will do my best to support my daughter, as I work in hospitality I am currently furloughed, I don’t have the finances to allow her to give her father the farewell she wishes. I ask anyone who can help to give anything they can to make this happen. I do this for my daughter, to ease some of the added financial burden on an already difficult moment in life.<br /><br />If you have managed to get to this point, I sincerely thank you for taking the time to read this. Help my Daughter with fathers funeral costs

My name is Irene Guild and I am writing to you to ask if you can help with a very special little girl who sadly could not have a Prom.<br /><br /><br />The reason for this is Sophie who is 11 years &amp; 5 months old was the only child in her year at a special needs school in Edinburgh.<br /><br /><br />Sophie was born with Hydrocephalus along with having had a Brain Hemorrhage  whilst still in the womb which left her paralyzed down her left side,  She also suffers from Moebius Syndrome Leaving her with facial paralysis. Sophie also needs to use a special walker to get around with help from others. She can see shadows but to what extent this has never been determined by those in charge of her care, SOPHIE NEEDS 24/7 CARE<br /><br /><br />Now the reason I am writing to you is Sophie would just love to have a "NORMAL" Prom experience, Her mother who is now  a single parent,  luckily carried Sophie longer than her other 2 siblings Diamond-Rose and little Rainbow who were both born asleep.<br /><br /><br />Caroline never asks for any help with Sophie from any organisations or other sources although I have asked her to apply.<br /><br /><br />Can anyone out there help in donate to helping us arrange a Prom for a princess by inviting the local children in her community and also those from her school who are not yet old enough for a prom to make SOPHIES Prom a special day for Sophie.<br /><br /><br />We are hoping to put on a horse drawn carriage to take her to her local community center,<br />We are also hoping to get someone to DJ Darren Glasgow Is working on this Possibly doing it himself  at  the local community center on the 17th of August for 3 hours. ( Long enough for Sophie.) <br /><br /><br />I am hoping to be able to purchase food item,s sweets and juice.  Sadly Sophie herself can only nibble light things as she is fed through a tube into her tummy. But being able to experience a Prom is not a lot for a little girl to ask.<br /><br /><br />I hope with help from organisations and or local shops etc I along with her mother will be able to make this dream come true. <br /><br />I asked Sophie where should would like to go on a family day out, Her reply without even thinking was Blackpool. Sophie shall go to the PROM

Many of you know me as "The Shetland Flyer" and for the last few years I have been photographing and filming The Shetland Islands from the air using unmanned aerial systems (UAS). I have shared these photos and videos freely for everyone to enjoy through my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/theshetlandflyer/" target="_blank">Facebook</a>  page, <a href="https://vimeo.com/channels/theshetlandflyer" target="_blank">Vimeo</a>  channel, and the <a href="https://vimeo.com/album/3042698" target="_blank">Shetland Aerial Video Project</a> .<br /><br />I've been approached on numerous occasions to provide commissioned photos and videos for individuals, local businesses, film and production companies (including the BBC's "Springwatch" programme) and commercial surveys, but to take on aerial work for any financial gain requires a permission from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). In some cases I have been able to "gift" individuals an aerial photo of their house if I had been filming in the area, but normally I have to decline any specific commissions.<br /><br />To gain a UK CAA Permission for Aerial Work (PfAW) requires me to provide evidence that I am a competent and safe operator of UAS, have an Operations Manual that covers all aspects of the aerial work I intend to undertake, have a full understanding of air law and how it applies to UAS operations, and have robust safety plans and risk assessment procedures. The simplest route to a PfAW is through a recognised training course, flight test and operations manual assessment.<br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/8002763_1451938766.1233_funddescription.png" alt="" width="100%" /><br />To this end I have decided to take the leap and undertake the <a href="http://www.aerialmotionpictures.co.uk/training/" target="_blank">Icarus</a> flight training programme with a goal of applying for my PfAW in the first quarter of 2016. I have already invested heavily in equipment and have some financial backing in place for starting the business, but I'm hoping to "crowd fund" some of the additional costs involved with training, travel and accommodation costs and insurance to get the business off the ground.<br /><br />This means a lot to me, and as many of you know I have had some serious health issues over the last few years. Running my own aerial media business would allow me to reduce hours in my "day" job to do something I have a great passion for, and for however long I'm able to do it!<br /><br />I will be eternally grateful for any financial backing for this project. I'm not sure what I can give you in return, but I could certainly provide you aerial photos or videos of your property or favourite place if it's in Shetland!<br /><br />Thank You!
