My name is Darby, and I am reaching out during one of the most challenging times of my life. Recently, I lost my job at a children’s hospital due to mental health struggles. I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and Bipolar 1, and after a difficult trigger at work, I found myself needing care in the very environment where I once helped others. The healthcare field isn’t always supportive of mental health, and now, as the holidays approach, I am focused on keeping my home and accessing the care I need while I file for unemployment and disability.

 I am asking for help to cover essential expenses like housing, medication, and gas for appointments, as everything is far from where I live. Getting out of bed each day is a challenge, but I am determined to keep moving forward. I want to share my journey not as a victim, but as a survivor. I hope my story encourages others with similar disorders to know that working isn’t always easy, and sometimes just getting up is an act of courage. Mental health awareness is just as important as physical health—maybe even more so, because you can’t always see the struggle.
