This is my best friend. No doubt in my mind she saved my life, now it’s my turn. 







Never did I think I’d have to do this but I figured I’d try….







Ezra tore her cruciate playing on a playground. (ACL) It is absolutely heart breaking that now she needs an IMPLANT!! ( TPLO surgery)





My days no longer revolve around adventure time. I have been trying to keep her comfortable / medicated and occupied but I can tell that this is really taking a toll on her. As you know with her breed ( Belgian Mal + German shepherd ) that does NOT come natural for her she is a high drive working dog full volume all the time!!!!! I need my best friend able to walk again. 







 




I knew pet insurance would be inevitable &amp; I did have it for two years - after the divorce I lost that and told myself next month I’ll sign her up again… and here we are. Definitely kicking myself for that one.

My grandmother taught me how to skate at 4 years old; by the time I was 5, I knew I needed to play hockey. I made my first travel team as a Mite and there was no looking back: I started to chase my passion alongside my best friend, Bob Cielo.  I played hard for the next 20 years: Bricktown, NJ, the Philadelphia Little Flyers, Toms River High School East, Trinity-Pawling Prep School, University of Notre Dame and minor league pro hockey. In June 1990, the two decades of hard work paid off: I was selected as the 125th Overall Pick in the NHL Draft by the Calgary Flames - The Stanley Cup Champions! It was the biggest honor of my life. After working so hard through youth, high school and college hockey my dreams had come true, thanks to a lot of blood, sweat, tears and grit along the way. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/42578328_1574800097735546_r.jpeg" alt="42578328_1574800097735546_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /> FAST-FORWARD, 29 YEARS AFTER THE NHL DRAFT: A few years ago I noticed that my fingers had started curling, my hands were getting weaker and I could no longer hold a hockey stick. I saw a chiropractor, a spine surgeon, had X-rays taken of my neck and spine, got a cervical MRI, a brain MRI with contrast, an EMG and a nerve conduction study.  Everything was pointing towards “stenosis” in my neck. The stenosis, apparently, was putting pressure on a nerve that controls my hands. “Okay, no problem,” I told myself. “I’ll get a laminectomy surgical procedure and my hands will be cured.” I saw a hand specialist who agreed that the nerves in my neck were not firing down to my hands.  But then my speech started to slow - a huge red flag. I immediately went to see a neurologist (a motor neuron specialist) and after testing, he came back with a shocking diagnosis: I had ALS, and I had between 2 and 5 years left to live. I was devastated.  Over the course of the following weeks, I saw three more neurologists. They conducted another EMG/NCS test, a lumbar puncture/spinal tap, blood tests that revealed elevated antibodies, and a heart calcium test with a cardiologist. The elevated antibodies were treated with neuropathy - a specialized IV drip -  but it was infused at too high a rate. I ended up in the Emergency Room with Aseptic Meningitis for three days. The specialists I saw gave me no hope, no effective solutions and no suggestions for alternative treatments.   So here I am today, facing the biggest challenge of my life: <a href="https://www.als.net/what-is-als/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">ALS</a>  (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. ALS attacks cells in the brain and spinal cord that are needed to keep muscles moving, leading to muscle weakness and paralysis). After recently attending a HEAL ALS conference in Salt Lake City, UT, I realized that I do have some common symptoms of ALS. I needed to accept the reality of my situation and turn my attention towards fighting harder than I ever have to sustain my life.  Breaking the news to my girl, Sofia Grace, my parents, sister, relatives and friends was heartbreaking. My tears flowed like never before. I didn’t know what to do, who to see, what treatments to seek - I was in shock. Doctors told me that there was nothing I could do - except enjoy my life until it ends.  But these doctors do not know Chris Tschupp. I DON’T GIVE UP. EVER.  As a screenwriter today, I have written 4 TV shows, 2 full-length feature films and have 4 more in the pipeline. Yet today, I can’t really type anymore, much less hold a pen or pencil. While writing is difficult, I’ll never quit telling great stories that inspire people and have an impact on the world.     Team Tschupp: Did you make the photo montage? I'm reaching out today with a story that's both infuriating and heart-wrenching. It's about my dear friend, Anne Greene, a genuine hero who's been through an unimaginable hell and needs our help.   On April 17, 2015, Anne did something most of us hope we'd have the courage to do, she intervened to save a stranger from a violent attack. This selfless act of bravery had a devastating cost. Anne was severely beaten, suffering injuries that ended her promising career and left her with a traumatic brain injury. The attackers were eventually arrested, tried, convicted and ordered to pay Anne a $34M settlement…That’s when her nightmare turned into a living hell. The attackers, despite their despicable actions, have faced no real consequences. Thanks to their wealth and connections, they've managed to avoid prison time, continuing to live their lives of luxury. Meanwhile, Anne has been left to struggle, her life upended. Despite winning a $34 million settlement, she hasn't received a penny due to the attackers' legal maneuverings.

Anne's bravery has come at a high price. She's been subjected to ongoing harassment and threats, and making her daily life a constant battle for safety and peace. Now, to add insult to injury, Anne is on the brink of homelessness due to the enormous cost of trying to protect herself and seek justice while struggling to find work she can do within her specific injuries.
  This is where you come in. I’m rallying to raise $25,000 to provide Anne with the immediate support she desperately needs. This fund will help secure safe housing for Anne and her emotional support dog, Blitz, cover living expenses, and afford her a measure of security she hasn't felt in years.
