 A first birthday is always special. For us, Olivia’s first birthday is a milestone we will never take for granted.

 A year ago, our world changed when we learned that our baby girl had a severe Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT) - a heart condition. Olivia arrived eight weeks premature and, in her first week of life alone, had to be defibrillated 13 times as doctors fought to stabilise her tiny heart.

 There were frightening days, long nights and moments when we simply didn’t know what lay ahead.

 But in the middle of that fear, we experienced the very best of people.

 The incredible doctors, nurses and staff in the Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, cared for Olivia around the clock with extraordinary skill, compassion and kindness, as well as those healthcare professionals on Clark Clinic. Children’s Heartbeat Trust supported us as a family as we tried to navigate a diagnosis and a journey we never expected to face.

<div>We are Draperstown Celtic, a Community Amateur Sport Club (CASC).

<div>Draperstown Celtic have operated in the heart of the community since 1968. Our impact is felt far and wide and this ambitious development is intended to push our impact much further.

<div><strong>Why?</strong>
</div>
<div>To help provide a vital gateway and path to aiding mental health and wellbeing for a well connected community for all. We believe in football, and generally, sport, for all and have a special emphasis on mental health and wellbeing, youth development and inclusion. 
</div>

<div>You don’t even have to play to be a part of our club. If you are a younger youth player, you will not be selected based on ability but on basis of equal playing time.
</div>

</div>
<div>We have significant levels of cross community support from the local schools (controlled and catholic maintained) and from other clubs such as Ballinascreen and Desertmartin GAA (suitable through inclusion of shockpads in the specification - there is a 10 pitch supply shortfall of GAA pitches in Mid Ulster). This will offer access to facilities and build a more inclusive community).

<div><strong>The cost</strong>

<div>The total cost of this multisport project is £630,000. £390,000 has been secured through the IFA/DCMS fund. We are one of only 17 projects awarded in Northern Ireland.
</div>

<div>We have also attained £40,000 of support from Mid Ulster District Council. <strong>Between fundraising and club loans we are required to facilitate the balance of £200,000 in funding. </strong>To ensure a sustainable level of club debt we are endeavouring to raise £125,000 from businesses and individuals.

Draperstown Celtic FC, Developing Cahore for the Community

<div>At the end of August this year Jude will aim to become the youngest swimmer from Ireland to swim from Asia to Europe across the Hellespont - the oldest open water  swim in the World. This is 4.5km sea swim - with no wetsuits allowed. All money raised is going to the Sunshine Foundation a charity set up to rescue children with   special needs from the old institutional orphanages in Brasov. My mum and Jude’s  Nanna led volunteers and supporters from Ireland and Romania to essentially build two facilities in the City saving dozens of children lives and delivering a massively enhanced future for these kids. Its an epic project which persuaded the Romanian  authorities to copy the project across the region vastly increasing the positive outcomes. Post Covid the project has a dire need for additional support in order to keep the projects delivering this much need care. And yes the old guy is doing it with him :)

Swim for Sunshine

<p>It's been a whirlwind week since Andrea received her breast cancer diagnosis. Andrea has a particularly aggressive type of cancer known as HER2+ and her treatment needs to match up to this. In 2 weeks, Andrea starts the first of 6 chemotherapy cycles. After this, she needs surgery to remove the tumour and her lymph nodes, followed by radiation therapy and a hormone treatment for 5+ years.

<p>Andrea will be unable to work for between 6 months to 1 year because of the intensity of her cancer treatment. Unfortunately, financial support for people in her situation is extremely poor - something we were surprised to learn. The last thing anyone with a cancer diagnosis should need to think about is how to pay their rent, bills, and food during the long road of treatment ahead. Research by Macmillan finds that:

<li>A further <strong>1/3</strong> need to <strong>stop work altogether</strong>

<li>On average, <strong>those affected</strong> <strong>lose £860 per month</strong> (and have additional costs such as travelling to appointments, help with household chores, increases in energy bills)

<p>I am raising money for Andrea, my wonderful mum, to cover her basic living costs so that she can focus all her energy on surviving cancer.

<p>Andrea is very well known in her local community in Coleraine, Northern Ireland. For the last 18 years she worked for Harpurs Hill Children &amp; Family Centre providing low-cost childcare for families of all backgrounds. Recently, she started her dream job as a Family Support Worker within the same organisation, something she has to step back from during treatment. Everyone who knows her loves her. She is a source of positivity, joy, and she sacrifices a lot to look after her family. SAVE KILREA UNITED FC ⚪️<br /><br />Due to an admin technicality on a registration of a player not of our making, Kilrea United FC are being fined 10k Swiss Francs (£8.2k) by FIFA. This is as an abhorrent and obscene amount to be fining an amateur, pay to play football club. Under FIFA guidelines the club has no right to appeal this decision and with the IFA not doing their duty to stand up and protect local grassroots football we have no other option but to ask for donations to save our club against such an injustice.
