Crisis relief
Help Me Rebuild After Trauma and Injustice My name is Stephen (Bailey) Ronan, and I never thought I would be here, writing these words — asking for help just to feel safe, regain stability, and start over. On July 29, 2025, my life was turned upside down. I was the victim of a terrifying and traumatic incident. Someone I knew falsely imprisoned me, threatened me physically, and stole both my vehicle and personal belongings. Fearing for my life, I did what anyone would do — I called 911, hoping for protection. But instead of safety, I was met with abandonment. For two long days, despite multiple desperate 911 calls, the Milwaukee Police Department – District 2 failed me. They delayed responses for hours. They told me they “couldn’t help without video footage.” One officer even admitted, “If this were a suburb, we could’ve done more.” Those words cut deeper than I can describe — as if my life mattered less because of where I live. Even when the suspect’s probation officer issued an active arrest warrant, and police located him, they refused to arrest him. One officer simply said, “Oh well, we know what he looks like.” Imagine hearing that, knowing the person who hurt you could harm you again at any moment. Eventually, the suspect was arrested on charges including false imprisonment, auto theft, and theft of property over $1,000. But by then, the damage had already been done. In those two days, I endured: Deep emotional trauma and lasting fear for my safety Financial devastation from stolen property and loss of transportation Physical injuries caused by the suspect The crushing sense of being ignored and unprotected by those sworn to serve Now, I am pursuing legal action against the police department for their negligence and violation of my civil rights. But justice takes time — and right now, I urgently need support to survive and recover. I am asking for help to cover: Replacement of essential stolen property Emergency transportation and daily living expenses Legal and medical costs Trauma counseling and recovery support Every single contribution matters. Even $5 brings me closer to safety, dignity, and healing. And if you cannot donate, sharing my story is an equally powerful gift — it reminds me that there are people out there who do care. This is more than just financial help. This is about proving that when systems fail, humanity does not. Please, if you are able, help me rebuild what I’ve lost. Together, we can turn this story of injustice into one of resilience and recovery. With all my heart, Stephen (Bailey) Ronan
