<div>Aloha. My name is Patty Wurst and I teach at Sacred Hearts School in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. Due to the recent Lahaina wildfire, our school was heavily damaged, with half of the classrooms completely destroyed. We have found a temporary home for our classrooms and will soon be continuing education in West Maui. Many families lost their homes and/or livelihoods.

<div>Each year, the 8th-grade students travel to the east coast for a learning journey rich in science and social studies experiences.  We need help to ensure that each child can have this experience. These children have endured more than they should have at this tender age, and having this opportunity will go far in helping their social and emotional well-being. In past trips, we have visited sites to learn about Spanish colonization and early American history, space travel and science at Kennedy Space Center, ecology and habitat preservation, STEM classes through the Walt Disney World Imagination Campus program (an intensive hands-on class experience involving sciences and humanities), and more experiences that a classroom environment alone cannot provide.

Lahaina Fire Relief for SHS Learning Journey

<div>My dog Layla was recently hospitalized after testing positive for Ehrlichia, a tick borne disease despite being on prevention. Her blood work showed high liver enzymes, low blood platelets and potentially anemia. She was hospitalized at Points East Vet Specialty Hospital in Wilson, NC after 5 vet visits. No one could really tell me what the absolute cause of why her blood work looked the way it did. At Points East, she had an ultrasound that showed an enlarged liver and started on antibiotics for Ehrlichia. She stayed in the hospital for 4 days. She was able to come home over the weekend with hopes she’d feel more comfortable at home to eat. She’d lost almost 14 pounds in three weeks.

<div>Unfortunately, I had to take her back to Points East today so they could place a feeding tube and start two other antibiotics. If this care plan doesn’t decrease her liver enzymes, it’s recommended she see an internal medicine specialist.

<div>If you know me personally, you know my dogs are my life. I’m the crazy Husky lady. I lost my first Husky Lennox not even a year ago and now Layla’s fighting to get back healthy. It’s been a very long and stressful three weeks of trying to find veterinarians that would listen and want to help find a cause and treatment plan for Layla.

<div>Hi! I'm Shersten and I have a real bad car. I've paid over $2,400 in repairs to fix a single problem (overheating issues) and it still overheats. Unfortunately, I have gone to two different mechanics, and neither has solved the issue. The car has other issues, like tires that constantly leak air &amp; turn signals that don't always work, but the cooling system is the most pressing one. I need my car to travel back and forth to college and also to get to doctor's appointments. I also do Door Dash on the side sometimes for extra cash, and without a car I am unable to do so. I had no idea Michael was going to do this for me, but I am extremely grateful and always blown away by his generosity. I've been modding the MSHers for quite a while now and have grown to truly love the community that Michael, Noble, and I have helped cultivate. (It was mostly Michael. Noble and I just kinda make bad jokes and ban transphobes) Anyway, if you feel like you want to give I just want to say thank you so much and huge thank you to Michael for being the best boss ever.

<div>My brother, Alex, is a 24 yo, who just graduated college, and is working his first-ever full-time job. He has two Siberian Huskies, who he loves immensely.

<div>On Friday night, Feb. 25th, Alex noticed that Clementine was having trouble breathing. He rushed her to the Emergency Vet, where she was diagnosed with Spontaneous Pneumothorax, caused by bullae or bleb formations on her lungs. Spontaneous Pneumothorax occurs when air enters the chest cavity, putting pressure on the lungs, and subsequently causes a collapse of the lungs.

<div>Clementine has been at the vet since Friday night, and she will need a CT scan on Monday, and surgery on either Tuesday or Wednesday of this next week. 
</div>

<div>The surgery is vital to her survival, and the outcome of the rest of her life. All in, the cost of medical bills for poor Clementine, total upwards of $15,000. Since Alex just started working his first full-time job, he needs a bit of additional help with covering the medical costs for Clem.
