Recently On January 13th, my 31-year-old son was struck by a vehicle in Houston, TX. He was admitted to Memorial Hermann Hospital. We live in San Antonio, Texas. He was in a coma until a few days ago when we visited. As a result of the accident, he got a severe brain injury and now has partial brain cell damage. He is on a PEG feeding tube and getting breathing assistance. His legs are also injured and are both in braces. Right now, he's unable to speak, and we don't know if he will ever talk again. The doctors say that it is very likely that he may not gain all of his body functions back again, although we are hoping and praying for his recovery. We are grateful that he is alive. He's struggled with so much in his life, and we want to do everything that we can to give him a better quality of life. He's my firstborn child, and beyond his faults in life, he is truly a down-to-earth, good-hearted young man. We hate to see him suffer and go through this tough time. I really want him to see and hold his brand new niece, who looks just like he did as a baby. He has a very close relationship with us and his sisters, and he really needs us right now. We recently lost our vehicle and are using buses to visit him in Houston and navigate everything. We are trying to get him relocated to a long-term acute care center here in San Antonio. He does have insurance; however, it does not cover everything, including transportation to get him here. I am in between jobs currently, and I'm trying the best I can to make ends meet. Eventually, I would like to bring him home and care for him after he receives long-term acute care at a facility. So many things have hit all at once and made it difficult for us. I'm unable to get any loans and don't have any options for financial assistance. The main things that we need are a good low-cost used car and the funds to have him transported from Houston to San Antonio because there's an upfront out-of-pocket cost for that the insurance does not cover. I will also be trying my best to acquire the medical equipment and machines that will be needed to help care for him at home. They will be discharging him from the hospital soon, and I want to be prepared for him to come home. I have tried everything that I can to get some assistance with the limited resources available to me and my family. We're going through a very hard time right now and are hoping to get some assistance very soon. This is a very sensitive issue, and it's hard to ask for help. However, once we are able to get back on track... We will be able to provide the home health care aide for my son. If you could find it in your heart to assist my family with the funds to move forward, I would definitely be eternally grateful. He has so much life ahead of him... Please help us to help my son to have a better quality of life. Thank You in Advance for your Donations. God Bless You ❤️
