<div>My name is Sharon Shore, and I have had the honor of loving Bill Hillhouse since 2020. We share a life together in Bellevue, Nebraska, alongside our three very opinionated Maine Coons — who will tell you that Bill is, hands down, the best cat toy I’ve ever brought home.

<div>On Monday, July 14th, our lives changed forever.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>What started as a trip to the ER for what we thought was a simple case of constipation turned into a nightmare: Bill was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma. The cancer has already metastasized to other organs. There is no cure. Even with chemo and radiation, we are realistically looking at months.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our focus is on pain management, comfort, and surrounding Bill with love, laughter, and care.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are only two months into this journey as I write this. We are now working closely with both an Oncology team and a Palliative Care team to make sure his days are as peaceful and pain-free as possible. We have completed two rounds of Chemo. Last Tuesday, Bill was unable to receive chemo due to stress on his liver. We are hopeful that this upcoming Tuesday chemo can resume.

<div>Let me tell you about Bill Hillhouse.

<div>He is a Son, Brother, Uncle, Boyfriend, Nephew, Cat Daddy (he's going to roll his eyes when he reads that one!), and to many of you, a friend, a softball legend, and a beloved coach. He's someone whose laugh fills a room, and who’s helped more people than he’ll ever take credit for.
</div>

<div>But Bill’s most cherished role? That would be Dad.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>His son Alex is the pride of his life. A kind, dedicated young man, and a gold medalist on the Danish Paralympic swimming team. Bill’s face lights up whenever he talks about Alex — especially when recounting the moment Alex took home gold in Paris last summer. That love is deep, unwavering, and incredibly beautiful. Alex arrives from Denmark, via the World Swimming championships in Singapore, on September 29th, 2025. We are grateful he can make the journey!

<div>On Thursday, April 13, 2023, my nephew Ralph P Yarl was on his way to pick up his twin younger brothers from their friend's house a few blocks away from his house. He didn't have his phone. He mistakenly went to the wrong house, one block away from the house where his siblings were. He pulled into the driveway and rang the doorbell. The man in the home opened the door, looked my nephew in the eye, and shot him in the head. My nephew fell to the ground, and the man shot him again. Ralph was then able to get up and run to the neighbor's house, looking for help.
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, he had to run to 3 different homes before someone finally agreed to help him after he was told to lie on the ground with his hands up.
</div>

<div>Ralph Pual Yarl is a fantastic kid, and I am not just saying this because he is my nephew. He truly is. At school, he is a member of the Technology Student Association and Science Olympia Team. Jazz and competition band. He is a section leader in the marching band; a scholar and one of the top bass clarinet players in Missouri. He recently earned Missouri All-State Band recognition with an honorable mention. He plays multiple instruments in the metropolitan youth orchestra. He is a 2022 Missouri scholar academy alumni. Ralph can often be found with a musical instrument. He loves them all.

<div>Last summer, Ralph attended Missouri Scholar’s Academy, where he got a full college life experience. His goal is to attend Texas A&amp;M to major in chemical Engineering. When asked how he plans to get into this university, he said, “Well, if they have a scholarship for music or academics, I know I can get it.”

<div>Ralph's teacher and friends describe him as “ a kind soul,” “quiet,” “friendly,” “well-mannered,” “always willing to help,” “super smart,” and a “musical genius.”

<div>Ralph was looking forward to graduating high school and finally getting the opportunity to visit West Africa before starting college.
</div>

</div>
<div>Life looks a lot different right now. Even though he is doing well physically, he has a long road ahead mentally and emotionally. The trauma that he has to endure and survive is unimaginable. He is our miracle. We have heard these types of stories many times, and unfortunately, most black boys are not alive to get another chance.

<div>Ralph deserves to have the future that he has dreams about. He deserves to be the light that shows the world that LOVE wins and that humanity is still Good.

<div>Josh and Tressa Starkweather have operated a batting cage in Colona, Illinois for the past seven years. Softball is their way of life. They made a commitment to girls in the softball community to instruct and develop many local girls in their softball careers. These ladies have come from as far as Dubuque, Omaha, Indiana and as far as Canada.
</div>
<div>Josh dedicates every free moment he has there coaching the girls, helping them to become the best athletes they can be. Helping them chase their dreams.
</div>
<div>An EF2 went through their town, the practice building and contents, all bats, balls, nets and turf were a total loss. 
</div>
<div>They need our help to continue the dream. Let’s help cover the loss of the equipment that will be needed to bring them back online when a new location is found.

<div>Hi, I am Lydia Merrett the cousin to Dominique Carr, Nicole Sanders, Richard Lewis Sr. and Rico Evans, I am assisting with organizing this fundraiser on the behalf of the mother, grandmother, grandfather and uncle of Rashad Lavon Carr, who was tragically taken away from us due to a mass shooting on 1/23/2023 while attending Starts Right Here Movement school in Des Moines, Iowa, along with his good friend Gionni, as well as the founder of the school Will Kemp, who was severely injured. Rashad was only 16 years old and Gionni was 18 years old. The family is not only struggling mentally with the loss of their loved ones, but they are also trying to make sure all expenses are covered as well as the financial strain they will take on after the services. Rashad was a striving musical person as well as he loved playing football. He and his best friend were inseparable and definitely will be greatly missed.

<div>My question is when will all this violence stop when we all come together worldwide and teach our teens it is not okay to take another's life just because? We are assisting his mother Dominique Carr with putting this together as she has six other children to attend to as well as help them with the loss of their older brother, and remain strong for herself. Rashad also lost his father in 2008 to gun violence. Please keep the families in your prayers and donate what is in your heart, there is no such thing as too little.

FUNERAL - HOME GOING AND AFTER EXPENSES

<div>Hi everyone. My name is Lauren Poell (Fidler). I'm Mia's aunt and sister of Hannah Fidler, who recently married Phi Nguyen. Our sister, Emily Jungman, Phi's sister, Anh Nguyen and I are raising funds to help our sister and brother navigate the loss of Mia and ultimately the worst time in their lives. Here is a little backstory:

<div>On Wednesday, September 21st, 2022, Mia was seen in the emergency room with a severe headache, neck pain and vomiting. With Mia's history of neonatal brain issues (Hydrocephalus), Hannah and our dad demanded an MRI of her head. On the way to the MRI, Mia had an arrest episode and aspirated, resulting in her being intubated. Seconds before this, Mia looked at a very emotional Hannah and told her that everything was going to be okay. Those were her last words.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Mia was transferred to the PICU where our family was confronted by a neurosurgeon. Mia's brain was not draining fluid properly and the ICP (intracranial pressure) level in her brain was approximately three times what it should be. They took Mia into emergency surgery to place an external shunt to help drain spinal fluid and relieve the pressure. Unfortunately, they were too late. The pressure was too high in her brain that it collapsed her brainstem and spinal cord, resulting in permanent brain damage. Damage that is irreversible.

</div>
<div>Mia was flown to Iowa City Wednesday night. Over several days, countless doctors and nurses saw Mia and observed her. Tests were done on Mia which confirmed no brain activity or response.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Although we are shattered to lose Mia, Hannah and Phi have made the generous decision to donate her organs. Mia's light will live on and she can provide help to at least 9 other families.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Mia had just turned 12 years old on August 2nd. Losing a child is not something any family is ever prepared for. This is what we are raising for. For Mia's funeral, the unexpected medical expenses, reimbursement for gas and hotels in Iowa City. If you are able and willing, please donate what you can so that these expenses are one less thing for Hannah and Phi to worry about. Losing their child will undoubtedly be the hardest thing they will have to go through.

<div>Everyone who knew Trey knew what it meant to be loved by him. He had such a heart for caring for other people, and it showed in everything he did.

<div>Trey was an athlete, and used his own talents to pour into younger athletes. He absolutely loved the time he spent coaching football and baseball, especially the time he spent out on the field with his brother, his son, and his nephews.

<div>Trey was a family man, and not a day went by that he didn't speak to his brother or sister. His parents went to Heaven before him, and he made sure to honor their memories and saw that their graves were regularly cared for, often decorating them with fresh flowers.
</div>

<div>Most importantly, Trey was a devoted husband and a loving father. Trey worked so hard to provide for his family, and always made sure their needs were met. He loved them every moment of every day, and was so proud to be a husband and a father. Trey was taken from his family and his friends far too soon.

<div>Trey's passing was completely unexpected, and has left a deep hole in our hearts. As we take the next steps to bury our beloved Trey, any donation is greatly appreciated to ease funeral costs and support Trey's wife and children.

In Memory of Trey Boddie

<div>With a heavy heart I write this for a family that’s practically my own. Three weeks ago, Larry Edwards was admitted to the ICU with a severe case of Covid. This is a scary time for not only him, but also his family.

<div>They have been fighting this long uphill battle for weeks while bills have been stacking up. Not only is the cost of living already a lot to bare, but the additional medical bills they have coming in has been extremely stressful for the family.

<div>Jeff Hall recently retired from his teaching position in industrial arts at Des Moines East after a long career providing his expertise and guidance to his students. Jeff was recently diagnosed with a blood cancer known as MDS. This is Jeff's second bout with a blood cancer. He recently underwent a stem cell transplant using his sister's stem cells and is recovering in an Omaha hospital. He hopes to move to Hope Lodge in Omaha soon to complete his recovery. Dear friends and family,<br /><br /><br />Our dearest Sophia is a healthy 14 (almost 15) year old athlete who loves to play softball. On July 2, 2020, Sophia was diagnosed with having a muscle spasm in her left shoulder blade. Seems normal for being an athlete, but over the next couple of days more symptoms developed that were not in line with a muscle spasm. When she awoke on the morning of July 5th, she couldn't move her right leg. She was taken to the ER where she began to lose feeling and mobility from her feet up to her chest as the evening went on. She was immediately transferred to Loma Linda Hospital and admitted to the Pediatric ICU for further testing.  MRI's and CT scans were order along with other testing. The pain and discomfort that Sophia was experiencing in her neck didn't allow for an accurate MRI to be done. Doctors needed to sedate her to keep her still during the MRI and intubated her to stabilize her breathing.  Finally they got an accurate test completed.  After multiple doctors and residents reviewed her MRI, it was determined that she has a tumor in her spinal cord column. The tumor caused her spinal cord to suffer a stroke. The stroke caused Sophia to gradually lose feeling and mobility from her torso down to her toes.<br /><br /><br />Sophia's life has been changed forever. The doctors cannot tell how much damage has been done by the tumor or the long term effects. Surgery is not an option as the tumor is intertwined in her spinal cord column. Proton radiation treatments have started with the intention of breaking up the tumor. She will remain in the hospital during the course of the next 3-5 weeks for treatment. The cost of ongoing treatments and hospital stay is adding up each day. <br /><br /><br />The immediate expenses projected to get Sophia home are overwhelming for Sophia and her family.  Sophia will have needs that will not be covered by insurance.  She will need equipment such as a hospital bed, a mobile lift system to transfer Sophia in and out of bed into a wheelchair and in and out of the car, a power wheelchair, a manual wheelchair and their current van will need to be modified to make it wheelchair accessible. In addition to these modifications, she will have the cost of daily medicine, in home nursing care, and physical and occupational therapy. <br /><br />The ongoing medical care that Sophia will need over the next months and possibly years is something that no family could ever be prepared for.  Our goal is to bring Sophia home where she can be supported by her family on a daily basis.  Any and all support is greatly appreciated by Sophia and her family.

<p>My husband Chris was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Spindle Cell Sarcoma. This is a very rare cancer that is difficult to treat.  Chris is being treated by specialists at the University of Iowa hospital in Iowa City, about 2 hours from our home. The cancer is in his bones in multiple locations. One of the tumors is on his spine and affecting his lower extremities. This makes it difficult to walk.  He will spend time in a rehab facility prior to starting chemo.

<p>This diagnosis has caught us completely by surprise. Anyone who knows us knows that we're a very active family. We spend a lot of time together in support of our children's activities especially travel softball. To go from supporting our daughter's team every weekend to being bedridden in a hospital bed is something we can barely comprehend. We're raising funds to support us during this difficult time. If you choose to support us the funds will be used for travel costs and medical bills. Please pray for our family. Thank you.

One of our players was in a serious rollover car accident. Killing the players mother Whitney, she was 35. Whitney was such a sweet, kind hearted, biggest softball fan we knew. We would love to help the family get past this tragic event. Pa’tyn our girls teammate wants to be back with us but unfortunately she has injuries that will result in her having to take a break. Her brother was also in the vehicle and he is still in serious condition and has had multiple surgeries. We ask that you keep them in your prayers and if you feel you want to donate please do.
