 Peace and love ❤️ Our family is healing through the passing of our elder, father, Babü, “Ankh” aka Uncle, friend, teacher, community pillar, and so much more. He was and continues to be a guiding light. Touching so many lives and families all over the world really. Of course he would say with his usual smile, “Decatur is where it’s greater”. In writing this, it’s so surreal. Above all else, we remember his Life, Legacy, and unconditional Love. He would be proud of the way everyone is coming together to help - taking this sensitive time with much rest and reflection.

 We are raising funds to support and cover transitional costs &amp; services, maintenance &amp; upkeep of our family home, bills, and land, as well as overall bereavement care &amp; therapy.

 This was a sudden loss and yet a gain of a POWAFUL ANCESTOR! Thank you for taking time to donate and help.

<div>Help Support Bill Hillhouse: A Beloved Coach, Dad, and Cat Toy Extraordinaire
</div>
<div>Hi everyone,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My name is Sharon Shore, and I have had the honor of loving Bill Hillhouse since 2020. We share a life together in Bellevue, Nebraska, alongside our three very opinionated Maine Coons — who will tell you that Bill is, hands down, the best cat toy I’ve ever brought home.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On Monday, July 14th, our lives changed forever.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>What started as a trip to the ER for what we thought was a simple case of constipation turned into a nightmare: Bill was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma. The cancer has already metastasized to other organs. There is no cure. Even with chemo and radiation, we are realistically looking at months.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our focus is on pain management, comfort, and surrounding Bill with love, laughter, and care.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are only two months into this journey as I write this. We are now working closely with both an Oncology team and a Palliative Care team to make sure his days are as peaceful and pain-free as possible. We have completed two rounds of Chemo. Last Tuesday, Bill was unable to receive chemo due to stress on his liver. We are hopeful that this upcoming Tuesday chemo can resume.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Let me tell you about Bill Hillhouse.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He is a Son, Brother, Uncle, Boyfriend, Nephew, Cat Daddy (he's going to roll his eyes when he reads that one!), and to many of you, a friend, a softball legend, and a beloved coach. He's someone whose laugh fills a room, and who’s helped more people than he’ll ever take credit for.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But Bill’s most cherished role? That would be Dad.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>His son Alex is the pride of his life. A kind, dedicated young man, and a gold medalist on the Danish Paralympic swimming team. Bill’s face lights up whenever he talks about Alex — especially when recounting the moment Alex took home gold in Paris last summer. That love is deep, unwavering, and incredibly beautiful. Alex arrives from Denmark, via the World Swimming championships in Singapore, on September 29th, 2025. We are grateful he can make the journey!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now, we need your help.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Bill has been self-employed for years and, like many in that situation, hasn’t had health insurance in quite some time. As of July 14th, he is also officially “between jobs,” having just let go of his only employee — himself.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We’re applying for Medicaid and financial aid, but these things take time — time we don’t have in abundance.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>There’s no sugar coating this. We have an immediate need for financial help. We’re asking — humbly and honestly — for your donations, your prayers, and your good energy.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you know Bill, you know humor is the fuel we run on around here. That’s how we’re getting through this. So crack a joke, raise a Dr. Pepper, and let’s walk this road with a little light and laughter — the way Bill would want it.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I made one promise to Bill and his family, and I make it to all of you now:
</div>
<div>I will love him through every minute of this journey.
</div>
<div>I didn’t expect to be a full-time caregiver — but I wouldn’t be anywhere else. We’re in this together, and we’re trusting in love, faith, and your kindness to help us through.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With deep love,
</div>
<div>Sharon

<div>Hi, my name is Donny Algieri and i am a racer who raced with Blase. i am organizing this collection for Blase &amp; Brookes 5 children who tragically lost both of their parents 5 days before Christmas. While im sure Christmas is the last thing on their minds they deserve our support, they need to know that both the racing community &amp; their family stands behind them. Help me let these children know we are here for them. I know times are hard for people especially around this time of the year, but anything will help. So please if you can donate please do.

<div>I am saddened to announce the untimely death of my son Lil Barry. We are all devastated by the loss of my first born son Barry Ellis III and were not prepared for the high cost of a funeral service. We want to give Lil Barry the memorial he deserves to honor his memory and say our last goodbyes. I am currently asking for donations to help cover the cost of Lil Barry funeral.

<div>****Update*****
</div>
<div>Hello everybody,

</div>
<div>On behalf of Ralph and our entire family, thank you so much for your generosity. It has warmed our souls during an incredibly difficult time. Of course we never anticipated so much support for Ralph, but we wanted you to know that we are working with a certified financial advisor to establish a Trust to properly receive the funds and use them for all of the original purposes we described. All funds will be used for Ralph's benefit, as his well-being and safety is our highest priority. Right now we will continue to focus on Ralph's recovery, but in the future we are considering setting up a charity.

</div>
<div>Again, thank you so much for your support.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>***Update on Ralph***
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ralph is currently at home with the family. He can ambulate and communicate. A true miracle considering what he survived.
</div>
<div>Each day is different. He has a long road ahead. However, we are very thankful that he is still here with us. I've been taking the time to read the emails and comments to Ralph. It warms our hearts to see him smile at all the kind words.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you so much for loving Ralph
</div>
<div>----------------
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On Thursday, April 13, 2023, my nephew Ralph P Yarl was on his way to pick up his twin younger brothers from their friend's house a few blocks away from his house. He didn't have his phone. He mistakenly went to the wrong house, one block away from the house where his siblings were. He pulled into the driveway and rang the doorbell. The man in the home opened the door, looked my nephew in the eye, and shot him in the head. My nephew fell to the ground, and the man shot him again. Ralph was then able to get up and run to the neighbor's house, looking for help.
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, he had to run to 3 different homes before someone finally agreed to help him after he was told to lie on the ground with his hands up.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ralph Pual Yarl is a fantastic kid, and I am not just saying this because he is my nephew. He truly is. At school, he is a member of the Technology Student Association and Science Olympia Team. Jazz and competition band. He is a section leader in the marching band; a scholar and one of the top bass clarinet players in Missouri. He recently earned Missouri All-State Band recognition with an honorable mention. He plays multiple instruments in the metropolitan youth orchestra. He is a 2022 Missouri scholar academy alumni. Ralph can often be found with a musical instrument. He loves them all.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Last summer, Ralph attended Missouri Scholar’s Academy, where he got a full college life experience. His goal is to attend Texas A&amp;M to major in chemical Engineering. When asked how he plans to get into this university, he said, “Well, if they have a scholarship for music or academics, I know I can get it.”
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ralph's teacher and friends describe him as “ a kind soul,” “quiet,” “friendly,” “well-mannered,” “always willing to help,” “super smart,” and a “musical genius.”
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ralph was looking forward to graduating high school and finally getting the opportunity to visit West Africa before starting college.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Life looks a lot different right now. Even though he is doing well physically, he has a long road ahead mentally and emotionally. The trauma that he has to endure and survive is unimaginable. He is our miracle. We have heard these types of stories many times, and unfortunately, most black boys are not alive to get another chance.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ralph deserves to have the future that he has dreams about. He deserves to be the light that shows the world that LOVE wins and that humanity is still Good.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>However, he will need a lot of help to get there. Funds from this account will be used for his medical bills and therapy.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Any additional funds will be use for college expenses at Texas A&amp;M, a trip to West Africa, and other expenses.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you
</div>

Ralph Yarl

<div>Hi my name is Chris Skiles, along with Joe and Aubrey Moran and Branden Berhenke, we'd like to tell you about a special couple, Josh and Tressa, they are my family and family to many in the Quad Cities area.
</div>
<div>Today Mother Nature was the winner of the game.
</div>
<div>Josh and Tressa Starkweather have operated a batting cage in Colona, Illinois for the past seven years. Softball is their way of life. They made a commitment to girls in the softball community to instruct and develop many local girls in their softball careers. These ladies have come from as far as Dubuque, Omaha, Indiana and as far as Canada.
</div>
<div>Josh dedicates every free moment he has there coaching the girls, helping them to become the best athletes they can be. Helping them chase their dreams.
</div>
<div>An EF2 went through their town, the practice building and contents, all bats, balls, nets and turf were a total loss.
</div>
<div>They need our help to continue the dream. Let’s help cover the loss of the equipment that will be needed to bring them back online when a new location is found.
</div>
<div>Please, if you cannot help at this time, please help by sharing it on your page. Thank you

</div>
<div>Hi, I am Lydia Merrett the cousin to Dominique Carr, Nicole Sanders, Richard Lewis Sr. and Rico Evans, I am assisting with organizing this fundraiser on the behalf of the mother, grandmother, grandfather and uncle of Rashad Lavon Carr, who was tragically taken away from us due to a mass shooting on 1/23/2023 while attending Starts Right Here Movement school in Des Moines, Iowa, along with his good friend Gionni, as well as the founder of the school Will Kemp, who was severely injured. Rashad was only 16 years old and Gionni was 18 years old. The family is not only struggling mentally with the loss of their loved ones, but they are also trying to make sure all expenses are covered as well as the financial strain they will take on after the services. Rashad was a striving musical person as well as he loved playing football. He and his best friend were inseparable and definitely will be greatly missed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My question is when will all this violence stop when we all come together worldwide and teach our teens it is not okay to take another's life just because? We are assisting his mother Dominique Carr with putting this together as she has six other children to attend to as well as help them with the loss of their older brother, and remain strong for herself. Rashad also lost his father in 2008 to gun violence. Please keep the families in your prayers and donate what is in your heart, there is no such thing as too little.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The proceeds will be used for his Funeral arrangements and homecoming celebration, as well as any financial debt inquired after. Also at the request of his mother, she will donate to a cause to assist with teen mental counseling.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>From the families, God bless you and thank you in advance!

FUNERAL - HOME GOING AND AFTER EXPENSES

<div>Hi everyone. My name is Lauren Poell (Fidler). I'm Mia's aunt and sister of Hannah Fidler, who recently married Phi Nguyen. Our sister, Emily Jungman, Phi's sister, Anh Nguyen and I are raising funds to help our sister and brother navigate the loss of Mia and ultimately the worst time in their lives. Here is a little backstory:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On Wednesday, September 21st, 2022, Mia was seen in the emergency room with a severe headache, neck pain and vomiting. With Mia's history of neonatal brain issues (Hydrocephalus), Hannah and our dad demanded an MRI of her head. On the way to the MRI, Mia had an arrest episode and aspirated, resulting in her being intubated. Seconds before this, Mia looked at a very emotional Hannah and told her that everything was going to be okay. Those were her last words.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Mia was transferred to the PICU where our family was confronted by a neurosurgeon. Mia's brain was not draining fluid properly and the ICP (intracranial pressure) level in her brain was approximately three times what it should be. They took Mia into emergency surgery to place an external shunt to help drain spinal fluid and relieve the pressure. Unfortunately, they were too late. The pressure was too high in her brain that it collapsed her brainstem and spinal cord, resulting in permanent brain damage. Damage that is irreversible.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Mia was flown to Iowa City Wednesday night. Over several days, countless doctors and nurses saw Mia and observed her. Tests were done on Mia which confirmed no brain activity or response.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Although we are shattered to lose Mia, Hannah and Phi have made the generous decision to donate her organs. Mia's light will live on and she can provide help to at least 9 other families.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Mia had just turned 12 years old on August 2nd. Losing a child is not something any family is ever prepared for. This is what we are raising for. For Mia's funeral, the unexpected medical expenses, reimbursement for gas and hotels in Iowa City. If you are able and willing, please donate what you can so that these expenses are one less thing for Hannah and Phi to worry about. Losing their child will undoubtedly be the hardest thing they will have to go through.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you know Mia, you know that she loves with her whole heart and does not know a stranger. She has a smile that will light up a room. Please help us show Mia how loved she is.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Note: The organ donation team is currently finding recipients for all of Mia's organs.
</div>
<div>*Mia’s visitation and funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our family would like to thank the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital doctors and nurses for going above and beyond for all of us during this time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Edit: we have raised the goal to $20k due to expenses changing.

</div>
<div>Everyone who knew Trey knew what it meant to be loved by him. He had such a heart for caring for other people, and it showed in everything he did.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Trey was an athlete, and used his own talents to pour into younger athletes. He absolutely loved the time he spent coaching football and baseball, especially the time he spent out on the field with his brother, his son, and his nephews.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Trey was a family man, and not a day went by that he didn't speak to his brother or sister. His parents went to Heaven before him, and he made sure to honor their memories and saw that their graves were regularly cared for, often decorating them with fresh flowers.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Most importantly, Trey was a devoted husband and a loving father. Trey worked so hard to provide for his family, and always made sure their needs were met. He loved them every moment of every day, and was so proud to be a husband and a father. Trey was taken from his family and his friends far too soon.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Trey's passing was completely unexpected, and has left a deep hole in our hearts. As we take the next steps to bury our beloved Trey, any donation is greatly appreciated to ease funeral costs and support Trey's wife and children.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Funeral information will be coming soon.

In Memory of Trey Boddie

<div>With a heavy heart I write this for a family that’s practically my own. Three weeks ago, Larry Edwards was admitted to the ICU with a severe case of Covid. This is a scary time for not only him, but also his family.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>They have been fighting this long uphill battle for weeks while bills have been stacking up. Not only is the cost of living already a lot to bare, but the additional medical bills they have coming in has been extremely stressful for the family.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>If you know this family, you know they constantly give to those around them and do whatever they can to be involved in their community. If you are able to donate at this time, please do! If you are unable to donate, please say a prayer for a road to recovery to reveal itself, and the Edwards family to grow through their fear of the unknown. Anything and everything is SO appreciated.
</div>

The Edwards Family

<div>Jeff Hall recently retired from his teaching position in industrial arts at Des Moines East after a long career providing his expertise and guidance to his students. Jeff was recently diagnosed with a blood cancer known as MDS. This is Jeff's second bout with a blood cancer. He recently underwent a stem cell transplant using his sister's stem cells and is recovering in an Omaha hospital. He hopes to move to Hope Lodge in Omaha soon to complete his recovery. Please consider a donation to help with the family's costs related to his medical care as well as transportation, food and lodging while they support him during his recovery in Omaha.
</div>
<div>Regardless of whether you are able to provide financial support at this time, please keep Jeff and his family in your prayers.

Jeff Hall medical and funeral expenses

Dear friends and family,<br /><br /><br />Our dearest Sophia is a healthy 14 (almost 15) year old athlete who loves to play softball. On July 2, 2020, Sophia was diagnosed with having a muscle spasm in her left shoulder blade. Seems normal for being an athlete, but over the next couple of days more symptoms developed that were not in line with a muscle spasm. When she awoke on the morning of July 5th, she couldn't move her right leg. She was taken to the ER where she began to lose feeling and mobility from her feet up to her chest as the evening went on. She was immediately transferred to Loma Linda Hospital and admitted to the Pediatric ICU for further testing.  MRI's and CT scans were order along with other testing. The pain and discomfort that Sophia was experiencing in her neck didn't allow for an accurate MRI to be done. Doctors needed to sedate her to keep her still during the MRI and intubated her to stabilize her breathing.  Finally they got an accurate test completed.  After multiple doctors and residents reviewed her MRI, it was determined that she has a tumor in her spinal cord column. The tumor caused her spinal cord to suffer a stroke. The stroke caused Sophia to gradually lose feeling and mobility from her torso down to her toes.<br /><br /><br />Sophia's life has been changed forever. The doctors cannot tell how much damage has been done by the tumor or the long term effects. Surgery is not an option as the tumor is intertwined in her spinal cord column. Proton radiation treatments have started with the intention of breaking up the tumor. She will remain in the hospital during the course of the next 3-5 weeks for treatment. The cost of ongoing treatments and hospital stay is adding up each day. <br /><br /><br />The immediate expenses projected to get Sophia home are overwhelming for Sophia and her family.  Sophia will have needs that will not be covered by insurance.  She will need equipment such as a hospital bed, a mobile lift system to transfer Sophia in and out of bed into a wheelchair and in and out of the car, a power wheelchair, a manual wheelchair and their current van will need to be modified to make it wheelchair accessible. In addition to these modifications, she will have the cost of daily medicine, in home nursing care, and physical and occupational therapy. <br /><br />The ongoing medical care that Sophia will need over the next months and possibly years is something that no family could ever be prepared for.  Our goal is to bring Sophia home where she can be supported by her family on a daily basis.  Any and all support is greatly appreciated by Sophia and her family.

Help support Sophia's road to recovery

<p>My husband Chris was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Spindle Cell Sarcoma. This is a very rare cancer that is difficult to treat. Chris is being treated by specialists at the University of Iowa hospital in Iowa City, about 2 hours from our home. The cancer is in his bones in multiple locations. One of the tumors is on his spine and affecting his lower extremities. This makes it difficult to walk. He will spend time in a rehab facility prior to starting chemo.
</p>
<p><br />
</p>
<p>This diagnosis has caught us completely by surprise. Anyone who knows us knows that we're a very active family. We spend a lot of time together in support of our children's activities especially travel softball. To go from supporting our daughter's team every weekend to being bedridden in a hospital bed is something we can barely comprehend. We're raising funds to support us during this difficult time. If you choose to support us the funds will be used for travel costs and medical bills. Please pray for our family. Thank you.

One of our players was in a serious rollover car accident. Killing the players mother Whitney, she was 35. Whitney was such a sweet, kind hearted, biggest softball fan we knew. We would love to help the family get past this tragic event. Pa’tyn our girls teammate wants to be back with us but unfortunately she has injuries that will result in her having to take a break. Her brother was also in the vehicle and he is still in serious condition and has had multiple surgeries. We ask that you keep them in your prayers and if you feel you want to donate please do. Anything helps.

Help the Blakes family.

Think back to when you were a kid…<br /><br />Do you remember how happy you were on Christmas? Perhaps you remember the beautiful tree, all the presents sitting under it or the amazing dinner you shared with your family or friends. I remember this too! What a great experience, right? However…<br /><br /><br />Not everyone remembers Christmas in a positive light. In fact…<br /><br /><br />Imagine being a child and waking up on Christmas morning to NO tree, NO presents and NO meal with your family. Instead…<br /><br /><br />You found yourself wondering why everyone else gets to celebrate while you get nothing. Perhaps even feeling like there’s no hope in this world. Now…<br /><br /><br />I bet you’ll agree that no child should ever feel like this, right? So…<br /><br /><br />Why not help us do something about it! You see…<br /><br /><br />For the last 5 years, we’ve been sponsoring local families who simply can’t afford to celebrate Christmas the way you might remember. And…<br /><br /><br />I can’t tell you how AMAZING it feels to watch the look on a Childs face as we hand deliver dozens of Christmas gifts to their house! And truth be told...<br /><br /><br />I believe that doing this will help those children in need believe that miracles are real and that someday, they will show that same kindness to someone else. In fact...<br /><br /><br />Last year, I remember delivering over $1,500 in gifts to a single mother with 5 children. They had maybe 400 square feet of living space and the mother and older children nearly cried with joy as we FILLED their living room with unexpected gifts! So…<br /><br /><br />This year we wanted to make an even bigger impact and that’s why we’re asking if you’d be willing to help out. You see…<br /><br /><br />Every year, we’ve been doubling the number of families we sponsor. We started in 2014 with just one family and now in 2018, our goal is to sponsor 16 families! And… <br /><br /><br />Since the beginning, we’ve always picked the biggest families with 6, 7, 8 or even 9 people in them! That’s because…<br /><br /><br />Most people simply can’t afford to sponsor large families due to the cost. In fact…<br /><br /><br />We spend on average $1,500 PER family! Which means…<br /><br /><br />To sponsor 16 families, we will spend $24,000 on Christmas presents to make this an amazing Christmas for these children and families in need. So…<br /><br /><br />Here’s what we’re asking for…<br /><br /><br />As you’ll notice, our goal is to raise $12,000 by December 7th which is the day we are going to begin shopping for these children and families in need. Now…<br /><br /><br />The reason we set our goal at $12,000 is because our company Warrior Made is going to match every dollar you donate to make up the other $12,000. So…<br /><br /><br />If you can find it in your heart to donate even just $5 to help make Christmas an amazing day for a child and family in need, we would greatly appreciate your support. And…<br /><br /><br />If for some reason you’ve read this far and chose not to support our cause, my hope is that you’ll take action on a local level and make an impact in your own community! <br /><br /><br />Merry Christmas!
