Continuing A Family's Legacy
My name's Andy B. My story isn't really what's important. I'm just a small-town artist. I've done some good things. I taught art classes for the Orangeburg League of Arts, teaching the basics and foundations of acrylic painting and acrylic pours, and how to draw a comic book character. However, I'm not the focus. The main focus here is very simple. I'm trying to help someone that has always stood by me and never turned their back on me, even at my lowest points. My father and mother always made sure I knew they loved me and always kept me straight, as long as I did good in this world, treated people fairly, and remained honest, always treating people with dignity and honor. My father, Vance Boone, and mother, Thelma Boone, always had my back. So my aim is to continue his legacy. He was truly my hero. He was a war veteran. He was also the longest-serving Sheriff in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He was also a graduate of the FBI Academy located in Quantico, Virginia. My father passed from stage four cancer. My mother developed Alzheimer's and Dementia before he passed. Due to his passing and loss of income, compounded with her memory loss and issues worsening, she hasn't been able to keep up with a lot of her financial obligations. Due to being on a fixed retirement income, she is at risk of losing the family home. She's over 13k behind. The house is the original BOONE family home. It was built by my great-grandfather and all of his sons and his family. The house is over 150 years old. My father passed in the same room he was born in. We have no financial help. I'm doing all I can to save the home from foreclosure. I recently spoke to Randy E., a very well-known Marvel Artist, telling him about a charity art auction I'm currently planning to raise funds to try to pay off my mother's mortgage completely. I collected comics at an early age, which got me interested in art and comics. Due to my connections I made through the art industry and comic book community over the years of lessons and learning from a lot of the very talented artists that have passed through Marvel and DC Comics doors, I was able to save and collect a lot of original art and books. My goal or plan was to auction off all the great items I've saved. I messaged him on IG just asking if he would sign a couple of books. I've tried to catch him at various comic cons with no luck. So I sent him a random message, hoping that he would respond. I told him about my situation and ironically, his father passed from the same horrible and debilitating disease. Also explaining to him about my mother's neurological diagnosis and decline, he also could relate due to the very same events affecting him and his family, which led to us really having a somewhat personal bond. He mentioned I should create a GoFundMe page and have it professionally created. Due to the current financial situation, I'm not able to do that. So I'm going to give it a shot. I am still going to do the online charity auction. The full amount to pay off the mortgage is 130 K. I know I don't have that much art and comics to clear that amount. So I'm hoping this will reach as many people as possible. I truly hope this story reaches the right eyes. My mother is such a great person. My art and comic auction can be found by searching this link . The site is still being loaded with items. More will be added soon. I also do commission work. Just reach out anytime. For more info on the situation, I'll happily share any and all details. All funds raised will be directed towards saving my mother's home. I truly know when the right people come together, anything is possible. So please share this story and pass this info on to anyone you think may be interested in helping continue my father's legacy of caring for your neighbor and always helping someone in need. If you knew him, you'd know this was how he lived. He would be proud seeing this story and quick description of him and how he lived. Thank you for your time. Try to help at least one person today. If we all did this, the world would change in no time at all. Feel free to mail me at [email redacted].
