I recently began my holistic health business and was so excited to move into a storefront location for my wellness center in December. Unfortunately, I soon discovered that the landlord had not disclosed ongoing flooding issues with the building. After experiencing two flooding incidents, my business was put on hold and I was unable to see clients. Though the landlord allowed me to break the lease and repaid one month's rent, the experience has left me in a difficult position both financially and emotionally, considering the unprofessional and unfair treatment I endured. I was forced out of continuing to lease the property due to the uncertainty of the problem being fixed. I really liked the property; it seemed an ideal beginning for my wellness center. However, I know God has so much better. Currently, I am renting a very small, temporary space just to keep my business going. However, it is not ideal for seeing clients or offering the full range of services I am passionate about. My goal is to rent—and eventually own—a new building for my wellness center so I can continue supporting the health and well-being of my community. My vision is to provide holistic health and beauty services that help people thrive and shine as God purposed us to!
