<div>I wish I could say I was happy we were meeting again, but that would be unlikely on this site. If you have been following Marina's story, we first launched our Magic for Marina fundraiser two years ago with what we thought was the worst of news.
</div>

</div>
<div>If you are unfamiliar, Marina was diagnosed with Stage-4 Sinonasal Undifferentiated Carcinoma in October of 2022. In non-medical terms, a very rare malignant tumor was discovered on her cribriform plate.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We started the first GoFundMe, Magic for Marina, and were met with overwhelming love and generosity by you, the community. We cannot thank you enough for the donations, shares, and well-wishes for Mar which have really gone so far over these last two years. After receiving her Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Chico in 2022 and putting a pause on her a new job as a Speech Therapist for children at a local elementary school, the donations were used for treatments, travel to said treatments, housing, and other costs in easing her healing journey.

<div>I am back with an unfortunate update:

</div>
<div>Over the last couple years, Marina has received 3 craniotomies to combat a persistent tumor. This past December, she had to have <strong>her right eye removed</strong> and has now completely lost vision in her remaining left eye, <strong>rendering her legally blind</strong>.

</div>
<div>We didn’t expect this turn, but Mar remains in high spirits even so!
</div>

</div>
<div>We have decided to relaunch the Magic for Marina fundraiser as Marina continues to adjust to this new reality. Any donations will go towards the following:

Magic For Marina ✨ - Adjusting to life without vision

<div>Dear friends, family, and strangers on the internet, 
</div>

<div>Marina and I met in sophomore year of high school, and I remember it vividly. A mutual friend told me, “Marina wants to become friends with you; she really likes your bangs.” Reader: this was the time of big, teased side-swept bangs and thick eyeliner– this was a huge compliment. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>By some sort of kismet, or role call’s alphabetical order, Marina and I were seated next to each other in our English class, and we became fast friends. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>And what a blessing that has been in my life, and I suspect the same for many others who are lucky enough to know her. She’s one of those people who, if you know her, you love her. Marina has a huge heart for her community, the kids she works with, and her friends and family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As broke high schoolers, Marina and I pooled together our money for after-school outings to eat, go to the movies, buy new makeup– anything to hang out. And if I didn’t have it, she’d spot me, or vice-versa because we each just wanted our friend to be there.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now, I’m asking for some help from all of you in spotting my friend in her time of need. 
</div>

</div>

<div>Unfortunately, many of us have been affected by the unknown beast that is Cancer and understand how swiftly this disease can deteriorate our loved ones' spirit and health, which is why she is starting radiation and chemo treatments this week to start her journey back to restored wellness.
</div>

<div>Marina received her Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Chico this summer (YAY!) and started a new job as a Speech Therapist for children at a local elementary school in August (DOUBLE YAY!). We will always celebrate the wins, but this also means she will need to take some time off from this brand-new opportunity to rest and heal. As income will be very limited, we are helping to raise money for the following:
