Our dear friend and legendary audio engineer in the Athens, Georgia music scene, Pat Biddle, has mixed, recorded, and archived hundreds of bands and musicians, including major international acts. Pat and his wife, Jean, have dedicated decades to assisting those in need. Jean is one of the founding members of Artist2Artist, a wonderful organization that has helped dozens of musicians and artists.

 Unfortunately, Pat is in a critical state of health at this time, facing Parkinson's and other serious health problems. His insurance has denied paying for some much-needed treatments his doctors prescribed, leaving Pat and Jean with significant uncovered medical bills and daily care expenses. He has been unexpectedly and tragically forced off the road and onto a long, uncertain path to recovery. We are asking for financial help in this difficult time from his family, friends, and fans. <div>During a huge storm, a tree outside their house was struck by lightning that spiraled down the tree, hit the water line, and traveled into the house catching it on fire.

<div>Luckily, Bob smelled smoke and went to investigate.
</div>
<div>He discovered flames burning in the downstairs ceiling and spreading quickly.
</div>
<div>He, Gretchen, and Sally the doggie got out safely.
</div>
<div>The fire department was called and put the fire out before there was total destruction, but a lot was lost.

<div>Hello. My name is Patrick Miljour. My wife, Mari, and I have spent the last 27 years of our lives building a beautiful retreat for our family and friends at Ivy River Lodge. On September 27, <strong>Hurricane Helene literally swept it all away.</strong> We lost all of our cabins, including my daughter's adorable home, and the cabin my parents have lived in six months of the year for the last 20 years to escape the harsh winters in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Everything we have worked for, for so long, was completely decimated. We are devastated. Besides the cabins, I lost about 80% of my tools, and our bridge washed away. We are blessed to be alive and have a roof over our heads, but <strong>we need help.</strong> It's become very obvious that insurance isn't going to even come close to what we actually lost.

<div>It's so hard for me to ask for help because I am the one that is usually out there helping everybody else. Right after Hurricane Katrina, Mari and I loaded up a trailer FULL of supplies and I headed down to Mississippi (twice!) to help out. We were there before the National Guard or the Red Cross got there. The destruction there was unbelievable, but what I've seen in Western North Carolina is catastrophic on a completely different level. Unfortunately, we are now the ones who need help.

<div>The money we are hoping to raise will go towards building a new bridge. We've spent the last couple of weeks canoeing ourselves and supplies (like a generator and propane tanks) across the river to get to and from our house. We now have a temporary ford going through a very large body of water. (The river has doubled in size!) So now, as the temperatures drop, we can drive my big truck across. However, if we get any substantial rain, that will be washed downstream like everything else. We are also hoping to acquire a 12,000 to 15,000 lb. track hoe, so we can clear the mountains of debris that were deposited here. This will be way more cost effective than paying someone else $1800.00 a day. We know this a lot to ask, but it's not even going to come close to building the bridge that we had.

<div>Hi All. As many of you know, our dear friend, Aimee's 9 year old son, Sawyer was in a horrific car accident on Christmas night. He has catastrophic brain injuries, is in a coma, and on life support.  We are unsure of his prognosis at this time. Aimee is by Sawyer's side 24/7, and unable to work.  Regardless of the outcome, Aimee will need to be with Sawyer 24/7, as his road to recovery will be long.  Aside from the costly rehabilitation Sawyer will require down the road, we are also focused on raising money so that Aimee can pay for basic necessities for herself, as well as trips back and forth to the hospital, and additional expenses that may arise. <div>A massive tree struck David and Amanda's house at 4:15 A.M. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, totally destroying the house and all property inside. As the walls collapsed electrical circuits popped, shooting a shower of sparks through the house as David, Amanda and their dog Ruby exited through the front door. It is amazing that they are alive.

<div>It is expected that they will need to rebuild their house and regain essential items such as work and personal computers, the washing machine, dryer, other household appliances, media devices, electronics, important documents, food, clothing, furniture, musical instruments, dog equipment, and a lifetime of memories (photos, comic book collection, records, art, etc.). We are currently unsure if anything can be salvaged or if our recent weather has further damaged items, making them unusable.

<div>Due to the size of the tree, we are unsure of the condition of David's car. Until the tree is removed neither car is able to be accessed. David and Amanda have been relocated to a hotel within walking distance of Amanda's work and David will rent a car to travel to and from the house to salvage whatever he can if there is anything left to salvage. Because his computer was destroyed, he is currently signing in to work and responding to emails from his phone.

<div>In September 2022, Meghann5k (Meghann Jordan), front woman of Denver-based alterna-rock band, Addie Tonic, was diagnosed with Stage 2 HER2 positive breast cancer. The diagnosis and treatment has presented many challenges: mental, physical, and financial. Meghann is in the course of receiving 12 weeks of chemotherapy to be followed by surgery to remove the tumor from the breast and lymph nodes, and then finally radiation treatments. The process of fighting the cancer has left her with a very limited capacity to perform and work until at least April 2023.

<div>In addition to pursuing her passion as a musician, Meghann works as a shared Administrative Assistant for local non-profits Healthier Colorado and The Bell Policy Center. Fortunately, her employers have been incredibly understanding, and have offered to accommodate time off for medical appointments, treatments, and recovery. However, her ability to work has been drastically reduced due to treatment, severely limiting her income to pay for her existing living expenses, not to mention accumulating out-of-pocket medical expenses. While Meghann is receiving treatment for and recovering from cancer, Addie Tonic will also have to take an extended hiatus from playing live shows, ticket sales from which account for the bulk of the band's income. Without gig revenue, the band has been left scrambling to find a means of covering their $500/month rehearsal space.

<div>Heidi recently had emergency neck and spinal surgery and I realized the previous GoFundMe was not nearly enough for what Heidi and Mal will need going forward. Heidi will most likely be out of work for at least a year and will be needing another surgery on her spine after she heals from this one. Their only income is from Mal while he's also trying to juggle taking care of Heidi 24/7. For 4 to 6 weeks Heidi will be wearing her neck brace and cannot lift anything over 8 lb. Home health Care is desperately needed while Mal is at work and Heidi will also need a special wheelchair to get around. These funds will be used to pay for rent, utilities, food, basic living essentials needed until she's well enough to work again.

<div> I've been battling severe health issues since I was 26 (in 1998).  I have a white blood cell syndrome that causes stomach, sinus and central nervous system issues. There are two major autoimmune markers suggestive of Lupusn. I have low Gamma Globulin levels that make me immunocompromised and suffer from neurotixicity from two antibiotics in the same class taken in 1998 and 2003(Cipro &amp; Levaquin).  This has caused extreme treatment depression making life increasingly difficult.

<div>In 1997 at 25, lower stomach trouble initally misdiagnosed as a bowel disease later revealed to be an allergic condition. Early theories if mono or CFS would be dismissed after 2 yrars.

<div>The following year I had an onset of neurological symptoms that made me feel extremely dazed, detached. I was seeing stars, was weak, cognitive and memory issues. It also left my skin partially numb. These symptoms improved in sync over a 9 month period with only a 50 percent recivery.

</div>
<div>Eventually, abnormal blood markers, biopsies shoed some abnormalities.  I have a white blood cell (eosiniphil) disorder which is neurotoxic to my body.
</div>

</div>
<div>I have a consistently high eosinophil count and are found in my stomach biopsies. These cells often do more damage than good.
</div>

<div>Some doctors think Churg-Strauss is plausible, given the evidence. A doctor at the Cleveland Clinic in 2016 didn't think I had Churg-Strauss, but <em>definitely </em>have an eosinophilic syndrome.

<div>There is no cure. Steroids help some but  can be harmful. There were no anti-eosinophilic medications on the market, but there would be later!

<div><strong>Fluuoroquinolone antibiotics</strong>

<div><strong></strong>I took in 1998 and 2003 had toxic effects. Levaquin, in 2003, made me extremely nervous, and I could only sleep 2-3 hours per night and had a permanent effect. This required strong medicines to control depression and anxiety. The FDA in 2013 determined these drugs cause anxiety issues, central nervous system and peripheral nervous system problems in some people. FDA warning label is below.

<div>This journey has been expensive. I have lived paycheck to paycheck most of my life but being underemployed, paying COBRA premiums with a large deductible, this is something I cannot bear. Unfortunately, they've been priced out of the Athens rental market: Athens’ real estate is the 54th most overvalued in the country, at 37.5%. Ouch. Their rent will more than double; add in things like rental deposits, pet fees and moving costs, and it all comes up to a lot of money they just don't have, <span style="font-size:1.0625rem;">and they don't have a lot of time to get it. </span>

I undertook this campaign entirely without her knowledge or request, but with input from family, friends, and her employer. Athens, GA - 30 Years On... Film

On February 25 I received a text message from Laura David to tell us that Bill had suffered a stroke and was undergoing neurosurgery.  Laura followed that with a note stating he should be in ICU for a few weeks, and they were expecting all to be well. <br /><br />A few weeks have turned into a few months, and although Laura and Bill didn't want anything to be done with regard to fundraising on their behalf (and we asked more than once), they have agreed to let us move forward on their behalf.   They realize that it would be better to focus more energy on getting well, and less energy worrying about the mounting medical bills.  <br /><br /><strong>In Laura's own words: </strong> <br />"My husband of 29 years, Bill David, is not only a stroke survivor but a one of a kind musician who plays and sings in multiple genres with unforgettable range, style, and passion.  He is also the man stubborn enough to arouse himself from a major hemorrhagic stroke and walk downstairs to meet and talk to fire rescue, to the amazement of all the doctors!<br /><br />Bill spent four hours in surgery, a month in Neuro ICU, and after the following month continues to be hospitalized having procedures and additional neurosurgery.  He has freed himself from the ventilator and is breathing on his own with minimal support.<br /><br />Now he is opening his eyes and gradually moving all parts of his body, even sitting up supporting himself!!  Most importantly, he is finding his own ways to communicate through clearly mouthing words, blinking responses, and raising his expressive eyebrows with a shrug.  Our hope is that he can get into Shepherd Center in Atlanta, or a similar specialized acute rehab for stroke survivors.<br /><br />Bill's family, friends, fans, and last but NOT least his two bereft cats, Jethro and Heather, all await his return home completely restored and once again able to sing, play, dance, and touch the lives of all those around him.  With specialized stroke therapy and the prayers, love, and support of his friends, family, and well-wishers all over the world, Bill will come ALL the way back!"<br /><br />Join us in <strong>Helping Bill Heal</strong>.  He has done so much for this town, and he'd be the first one to step up if it were one of us.  <br /><br />Thank you!

This campaign is the hardest thing I’ve ever done and the result of seriously desperate times, an avalanche of catastrophes that has left my beautiful family in hardcore trouble. <br /><br />I am the sole support of my wife, our autistic daughter, two cats, and two aging dogs. Things have always been lean but we’ve managed to muddle through. That is, until this last January, when the following sequence of events happened.<br /><br />Our lease ended and our landlords chose not to renew in order to sell their properties and retire. My wife’s mother was also their tenant, so we had to move her into a tiny apartment she found and all of our stuff into storage until we could afford to find a place for ourselves. <br /><br />While moving I had to go to the ER three times – for diabetic ketoacidosis, pulmonary edema (congestive heart failure), and stage-four pneumonia from the first hospital stay. Doctor visits and prescriptions hit us hard. <br /><br />While I was recovering my boss informed me that a corporate chain had unexpectedly bought the building where I worked and were evicting us with no plan B. We had four weeks to clear the store out and at the end of March we were all laid off. <br /><br />Meanwhile, the family we were staying with decided they were unhappy with the arrangement and kicked us out. We found ourselves invading my mother-in-law's apartment until we could find the money to move. <br /><br />While I was packing merchandise to ship out to our other stores, my back gave out. Another trip to the ER revealed, however, that it wasn’t a back injury but kidney failure. I had caught MRSA during my last hospital visit and the infection had spread to kidneys, heart, and my right arm. I was hours away from dying. <br /><br />That was a month ago and I’m still in the hospital. The infection has required a long and aggressive regimen of different antibiotics while the doctors tried to pin the infection down and save my kidneys and keep my heart at functioning levels. They discovered a pocket of MRSA beneath my right knee that required surgery so now I have to use a walker. <br /><br />So this is our situation. We’re staying in my mother-in-law’s miniscule one-bedroom place and living on the money we would have used to move. Once I am discharged my medications, including antibiotics, are going to kill us. I currently have no job, no opportunity to look for a job, and it will be a couple of months of healing and physical therapy before I can look for a job or even apply for unemployment. <br /><br />This is why I’m asking for your help. I’m trying to keep us all in food and medications and necessities until I can get healthy again, until I can look for and find a job, until I can find us a place to live. <br /><br />Two months is all it took to decimate us. It will take at least that long to start to rebuild. Please help keep my family fed and safe while I work on it. Every little bit is a blessing. Please help a family in sudden need

Sloan Rainwater, our friend and Atlanta rock photographer, was seriously injured in an auto accident on February 7, 2016.   She suffered a dislocated and broken hip with 4 fractures and 5 broken ribs.  Following surgery at Kennestone Hospital to repair her hip, Sloan has spent several days recovering from injuries. <br /><br />She will be discharged from the hospital and go home to convalesce and continue her recovery.  Sloan won't be weight bearing on her right side for a  miniumum of  3 months and will take up to one year to fully recover.<br /><br />Unfortunately, Sloan doesn't have medical insurance and will need help with living expenses for some time.  Though she is expected to make a full recovery, the physical limitations while she's healing, won't allow her to work. <br /><br />Your donations will support Sloan tremendously, as she continues to heal.  Help start Sloan up on her path to recovery and living life to the fullest!<br /><br />Thank you so much for your kindness and support!

Sloan's Start Me Up Fund

Most of Chris McKay’s friends know him for being a musician, a photographer, an activist, or some combination of the three. The truth is that Chris has only done a fraction of what he’s wanted to do over the years. Like many who deal with chronic illnesses, Chris chose to be private about his struggles. Even when he has been performing on stage or working in photography, he’s often been battling his physical condition. Chris has been a frequent contributor to charity, but he had long refused any outside help to his own cause.
Chris’s sister—Missy--set up this GoFundMe when he was in the intensive care unit in the summer of 2018 due to complications from a car wreck that occurred months before. As of early 2019, Chris has been hospitalized on at least 5 separate occasions.
The night he was admitted to the ICU, he had delayed going to the ER because he did not know how he would pay for it.
Chris has been unable to work regularly since early September 2017, when the car in which he and his wife were traveling in was rear-ended by a distracted driver.
Both cars were totaled.
Chris sustained a traumatic brain injury (the effects of which have faded but are ongoing) and will need further PT for the pain and loss of spinal mobility incurred.
Even more serious is the vertebral artery dissection that occurred from the physical trauma of the car wreck. The dissection wasn’t discovered initially and was only found after an MRI when Chris was placed in the ICU. When the previous post-accident MRI was then compared to the current one, they saw that they had, somehow, missed the dissection before.The discovery of the dissection led to an understanding of what’s been happening with the extremely painful episodes that Chris has been having. These episodes involve dangerous blood pressure and heart issues as the brain demands more blood and the heart tries to supply it.
In addition to the mounting medical expenses from ongoing testing, treatment, and therapy being done locally, there have been travel/lodging expenses from having to go to specialized medical clinics. The Mayo Clinics in Jacksonville, Florida and Rochester, Minnesota have accepted his case, each having different areas of expertise. He has been to the Florida Mayo Clinic twice now where they have been piecing together the puzzle and ﬁgured out the connection between the dissection and the episodes. He was scheduled to go to Minnesota in December, but had an episode on the way to the airport and had to cancel.
Chris has been conﬁrmed to suffer from the following: a genetic connective tissue disease (a rare form of Cutis Laxa); vertebral artery dissection; traumatic brain injury; a cerebellar stroke; Meniere’s Disease; dysautonomia; chronic kidney stones; recurrent mycoplasma pneumonia, and vestibular issues that have become acute following the car wreck.
Chris had learned to adapt and to deal with all of his health issues and was doing just that until the accident which brought on the brain injury, spinal injuries, and the vertebral artery dissection. Because of the unpredictable episodes of extreme pain and brain fog, he can no longer make any plans in advance.
As of February of 2019, the insurance company of the at-fault driver has yet to pay anything toward Chris’s medical bills despite the fact that they themselves have counted more than $30,000dollars in medical bills alone (This, of course, does not count lost wages past, present, and future.)
Thanks to the GoFundMe account and friends and family helping out, Chris and Manda were able to get through the summer and fall of 2018. Unfortunately, since then, one credit card bill is already approaching $10,000 as bills keep coming in and they try to pay them on installment plans. With the interest compounding, it’s making a bad situation worse.  
 Currently, Chris is taking things a day at a time. On a good day,
he can do things around the house, and on a bad day, he can’t do much of anything. On the worst days, he winds up back in the hospital.
He wants it known that since just after Christmas of 2018, he has been having more good days than he was having. He is thankful for that.
He misses performing and photographing. Even going out to visit with family and friends is taxing. Traveling is very difﬁcult these days because of severe disequilibrium that was brought on by either the brain injury or the dissection. Chris still occasionally mixes up words, numbers, and phrases or can’t say communicate ideas. He is self-conscious about a stutter that occurs in the bad moments.
Immediately after the car wreck, he couldn’t play guitar at all. He knew what to do, but he couldn’t get it from his brain to his hands. Fortunately, that only lasted a couple of days.
One of his neurologists has pointed out that the dissection could heal itself. That’s the hope as there’s no treatment currently available. When the pain hits, Chris just has to deal with it until itends. This without the help of any medication stronger than over the counter medications. Sometimes an episode only lasts a few hours. Sometimes, it’s days. When it’s bad enough, he has to go to the hospital for monitoring and to be stabilized. 
 The doctor said that Chris “should get better eventually”, but it
may take years. In the meantime, he hasn’t been able to tour or travel to photograph events. In fact, he’s mostly conﬁned to work that he can do from home.
Currently, Chris has had all upcoming appointments and physical therapy canceled because of the ﬁnancial concerns. He will, of course, go in for emergencies, but he simply can’t afford to have more added to his bills, especially since the insurance company hasn’t settled to this point.

Using Chris Marker's film Le Jolie Mai as a jumping off point, and a host of wonderful bands, old and new. This Athens update shows how Athens has remained an oasis for all those people who are progressive - intellectually, artistically and socially - in this special town in the middle of Georgia. </strong>

As many of you know, my husband Scott McCaughey has suffered a major stroke and is receiving treatment in San Francisco. To all of you who have expressed love and interest in helping him, we have set up this Go Fund Me account to help defray the steep costs of Scott's medical bills and extensive ongoing physical and speech therapy in the future.  <br /><br />He was in ICU for a week and will still need to stay in the hospital for additional days as they work to stabilize him physically.  He has also started physical and speech therapy and we have been told that he will require daily speech therapy for the foreseeable future in order to regain his communication abilities.  <br /><br />He has a long, difficult road ahead to recovery, but with his unsinkable spirit (and with time and hard work) we know that he'll come back from this and be back in your town rocking soon.<br /><br />Thank you - Mary Winzig (Scott's wife)

My name is Mark and writing this on behalf of my friend Mike Kordich. He is a firefighter on a hot shot fire crew in SoCal. He was enjoying a weekend with two other firefighters attending the Route 91 country music festival in Las Vegas. When the shooting began, Mike observed a victim of the shooting go down in front of him with a  life threatening injury. Instead of fleeing from danger Mike ran towards it and this victim. Mike immediately reverted back to his medical training by giving this victim several rounds of CPR while bullets impacted the ground around him. Mike continued giving this victim aid until he himself was shot in his right arm. Mike lost the function of his arm and couldn't continue CPR. Mike later underwent surgery for his gunshot wound. The doctors have told him he may need additional surgeries and eventually physical therapy. Because of Mikes line of work, using hand tools, and fighting wild land fires he may be out of work for some time. As his long time friend I am asking for donations to help him in his recovery & to assist with medical expenses.

We created this fundraiser in behalf of our dear and beloved friend Seth Haldeman who recently had an unexpected Medical Emergency. The money will be used to cover at least some of his medical expenses. He had a major brain surgery due to a epidural hematoma which the doctor said is a miracle that he was alive when he went to the hospital. Please anything you can donate will be useful to meet the goal.
