It’s always a tragedy when someone we love dies, but if there’s any kind of silver lining..it’s the reminder of how precious life is and how important it is to make the most of it whenever we can. ️ Last year I completed Couch to 5K, which felt like a huge achievement for me as someone who has never been naturally sporty and has no background in running. After that, I went on a few short runs with my friend Martin. He was a great runner, and I learned a lot from him. Sadly, Martin is no longer with us. ❤️‍ After he passed away, my manager decided to run a 10K in his memory and raise money for charity, which really inspired me to do the same. So…On 14th June 2026, I will be running the Cheltenham Running Festival 10K. ‍♀️ I’m doing this to honour Martin’s memory, to raise money for a good cause, and to prove to myself that I can do something I never thought I could. I’ve also had a lot of support from my manager, and we’ll be taking on this challenge together, which means a lot to me. ‍♀️ I’ve chosen to raise money for The Door Youth Project in Stroud. This charity supports young people in the local area, and when Martin was younger it was a place he accessed often. He shared videos of interviews he did with them and spoke about the positive impact it had on his life. This charity provides hope and light for young people, helping give them a foundation for their mental wellbeing later in life. I also know people who have worked there, and knowing the money will directly support local young people who need it makes this feel even more special.
