Update - October 2026 Physical therapy has made tremendous improvements from walking with assistance, transferring to bed/chair, transferring to a vehicle, and the ability to travel is beginning to transform our lives. Things that we don’t talk about though, and will take much more therapy, patience, and practice, are those personal things that make us civilized and human - things like going to the bathroom, full shower bathing, putting on underwear, pants, and shoes, etc., all with little to no assistance. Even though our GoFundMe goal was met, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the support we have received, there still remains a significant cost to sustain our current level of care, in terms of physical/ occupational therapy, braces / assistance health articles, consumables, medications, transportation, etc. September, we successfully scaled another major milestone….. flying United Airlines from West Palm Beach to Chicago. I have to say, the airlines have traveling for disabled travelers down to a science. You know, just going back, recalling the somber and tragic moments of the accident in late 2019, and then seeing the images of where we’re at today, brings a tidal wave of gratitude into our souls. Nearly 6.5 years ago, Sue and I were in a life changing auto accident. She endured a fractured spine and a fractured humerus, resulting in a potential paraplegia future. Years of therapy and hard work followed, never giving up. As our maiden flight comes to an end, we’re already planning trips next year to see family in Columbus, Ohio. We know now what to work on further with exercise, transfer methods/techniques, and physical therapy. This time next year, our goal is to become stronger so we can not only transfer to an airline passenger seat with minimal assistance, but also navigate to a regular rental sedan, again with little assistance. Thank you everyone for the encouragement, support, thoughts, and prayers. Feeling grateful ❤️
