My name is Leanne, and I’m reaching out because I’m facing a truly difficult time. Recently, I was attacked by my own German shepherds, which left me with severe injuries to my right hand. The attack tore my ligaments and shattered the bones in my hand, and now I need reconstructive surgery to have any hope of regaining normal use.

 This situation has been made even harder because I no longer have health insurance. I was previously covered under my husband’s plan, but after a recent divorce, I lost that coverage and have been left to take care of everything on my own—including the dogs. My ex-husband has refused to help, and I don’t have any immediate family to turn to. I work hard, but I don’t make much, and now with my hand injured, I can’t work at all until I recover.

 The cost of reconstructive surgery is overwhelming, and without it, I won’t be able to work or pay my bills. I’ve never been the type to ask for help, but right now, I have no other option.
