Hello; My name is Asantewaa, and I'm here today to see what I can do to help Ruth, someone who I consider to be an adopted daughter, who is in need of some very special care.
Ruth has a disease called Lymphedema (sometimes called Elephantiasis), and she is facing a really tough battle right now. Not only is it heartbreaking to see her suffering like this, but there is no cure for this disease. She is in immense pain every day, and her legs continue to swell without ceasing. One of her legs has an open space that doesn't seem to want to heal. Her condition makes it hard for her to take care of herself - to do the simple things like stand, wash, even visit the bathroom.
She is also in charge of three little girls under the age of 12, and she is doing the best she can to see to it that they have a normal childhood despite the circumstances.
Ruth is in and out of the hospital regularly, because her legs have to be debrided on a regular basis, in order for the doctors to try and save them. This painful act involves the cleaning of the wounds, disinfecting them, and rebandaging as she winces in pain. This is a necessary, bi-weekly process for her.
Every day for her is a struggle, and she worries about her family every minute of each day. Her focus is on them, while she bares this trying disease on her own.
Please try and put yourself in her place and find it in your heart to give what you can to help this mother and grandmother, to have life just a little bit easier.
We thank you in advance for your generous donation to this GoFundMe, and may God Bless you.
