Hello, thank you for taking the time to read through this
I’m Avery, and I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. Unlike many riders on the island, I did not grow up in a “horsey” family. I didn’t inherit connections, horses, or a built-in path into the sport. I discovered my love for horses on my own, and it has been my life project since.
I am currently in college, balancing my education with the goal of becoming a competitive showjumper. As many know, equestrian sports are beautiful but financially demanding. Lessons, training rides, show fees, equipment, and transportation add up quickly especially without generational support, sponsors, help programs, ect… much less with the lack of accessibility in Puerto Rico, barns located far away, ect…
I want to be fully transparent:
This fundraiser is specifically to help cover structured riding lessons and training costs so I can continue progressing in showjumping while completing my college education. I am asking for the opportunity to train consistently.
Puerto Rico has talented riders, but many come from established equestrian families or backgrounds with financial access to the sport. This also led to me being shunned out of the little opportunities I had. I want to go back to building my place in the sport, by working hard and giving it my all- and with your help I can make this all the more possible!
I am actively seeking barn experience, mentorship, and opportunities to grow in the industry. I am not relying solely on donations, I am working, learning, and investing my time. Any support given here would go directly toward:
• Riding lessons
• Training sessions & clinics
• Essential riding equipment
If you choose to donate, you are not funding a hobby ! you are supporting an athlete working toward long-term goals in a sport that demands commitment and lacks accessibility.
If you cannot donate, sharing this means just as much.
I believe that real change in sports starts when we stop letting privilege win over real passion and hard work.
Eternally grateful
Ave
