<div>My name is Hani Almadhoun, and my family and friends live in the North of Gaza, Palestine. Most aid is being blocked at the border, and there isn’t nearly enough to fight back the famine or save my loved ones. So we decided to do something about it.

<div>My brother, Mahmoud Almadhoun, and his friends volunteered to start a soup kitchen in Bait Lahia, to provide hot meals to friends and neighbors. They bought four large pots, purchased wood for the fire, and risked their lives to dig up potatoes. They also purchased tomato paste and cooking oil, and three hours later, 120 families had food for the day. The next day 150 starved families ate from the kitchen.

<div>Word spread rapidly, and the next day, even more neighbors arrived. Mahmoud sprang into action, venturing out to procure ingredients for a fresh meal. He returned with leafy greens, onions, and mushrooms, crafting a new dish that was as delightful as it was nourishing. The kitchen's capacity has now expanded to accommodate meals for up to 3000 people daily, and the numbers continue to grow. For many, this was their first substantial meal in days, and the departure from canned food was a welcomed change that filled hearts with gratitude.

<div>You may wonder why these individuals can accomplish something that few have managed to do in the heart of starvation in Gaza. That would be a fair question.
</div>

<li>First, Bait Lahia has some farms where veggies and wild greens are now in season.
</li>
<li>We made sure they had the money to purchase these hard-to-find items.
</li>
<li>Additionally, they are located in the heart of the market, so they can easily spot any of these veggies and cooking essentials arriving at the market.
</li>
<li>They have also visited farms close to the Green Line to find veggies and have been lucky a few times. Once, they purchased overgrown zucchinis that should have been picked weeks ago.
</li>
<li>Mom and my sisters lovingly wake up early to peel and prep the food for the day's meals.
</li>

Hot meals 4 Starved Palestinian Kids in north Gaza

<div>Hi, my name is Ann-Sofie Hatmi, based out of Sweden in the northern expanses of Europe. I'm a longstanding friend to the family in Gaza that this GoFundMe supports.

<div><strong>Ahmed's Medical Crisis:</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>The father in the family, Ahmed al Qhwajy, has a long history of problems with his stomach and intestines. They grew stronger over time until they bothered him to the extent that he sought help from specialists at the Nasser hospital, requesting an evaluation. 45 days before the current war in the region broke out, he had extensive endoscopic surgery done, as a start to rectify this.</strong>

<div>After the surgery the specialist instructed Ahmed that it was imperative to keep and come to his follow-up appointments for after care and that the results of the biopsies taken during surgery would be reported back to him and also determine what additional treatments were necessary after this initial exploratory surgery.

<div><strong>The War's Impact:</strong>
</div>
<div>It is now more than eight months since that day and as a result of the war still going on and the effect it has had on life in general in Gaza, Ahmed has had no follow-up appointments, no after care and no report back on what the biopsies showed. His entire mid-section burns with pain, day in and out, crippling him to the point where it is hard to even perform normal daily activities.
</div>

<div>It is very likely that Ahmed's specialist at Nasser hospital has succumbed to one of the many attacks aimed at goals in Gaza since seven months back, and it is also likely that any pathology records holding the results from his biopsies have been destroyed along with much of the infrastructure in the region. This weighs on Ahmed's mind, as the insecurity of not knowing what they may have shown comes back over and over.
</div>

<div>The endoscope pictures shown in the fundraiser document the state of Ahmed's intestines as the surgery was perfomed, and are photographed from print-outs given to him after the procedure was done. To date these print-outs with the doctor's notes are the only known remaining trace of what was done and found.

<div>This fundraiser has been started to help Ahmed into Egypt to see specialists for the long over-due follow-ups, to see if they can help unravel what biopsies were taken and for what purpose, and secondary only to relieve him of the current pain, to find out what needs to be done in addition to the endoscopic surgeries he has already undergone.

<div>But, as important as the trip to Egypt, is to raise funds to allow Ahmed entrance back into Gaza. He is leaving his wife and three children behind as he goes away and the tug on the heart from not seeing each other and sharing day-to-day life will be hard on both sides.

<div>Below is the <strong>photos of the two children</strong> of Ahmad. Meet Juri, Ahmed's daughter, who almost lost her life due to the lack of medical supplies. Your donation can help prevent more tragedies.

<div><strong>The family has for now taken up temporary residence in a tent for displaced Palestinians, near Rafah, with strong hopes to return to their original residence in Khan Yunis when cease fire and peace comes.</strong> It is as important to Ahmed to return to them so they together can build up what has been lost and destroyed, as it is finding relief to the pain and worries eating him up from the inside.

<div><strong>The amount collected from this fundraiser SEK 200,000/€ 20,000 will be used for:</strong>

<div>While this may seem like a high amount for the above it should be taken into account that travel and transit has increased several fold due to the ongoing war in the region and will likely increase even more until Ahmed finally can travel.

<div>Also, even though the medical expenses that can be estimated for now are moderate (initial doctor visits and replacing the missed follow-up appointments), a buffer for additional medical costs is absolutely necessary. To do things differently would both prolong Ahmed's suffering and either increase housing/living costs while waiting in Egypt, or add additional cost with returning to Gaza and then repeat the journey once the appropriate funds have been collected.

Help Ahmed with his excruciating pain

<div>I'm Ann-Sofie Hatmi, based out of Sweden in the northern expanses of Europe. The family this GoFundMe supports are longstanding friends of mine and it is with a heavy heart that I've watched the deterioration they are experiencing, due to the severeness of the situation in Gaza since October 2023, that as of March 2025 is only accelerating.

<div>The family members in need of our support are mother Reham and her three children Anas (eldest son), Juri (middle daughter) and Ibrahim (youngest son). Since October 2023 Reham and her children have been displaced many, many times. The latest in row, number 13, happened in late May 2025. It was shattering, for several reasons. 
</div>

<div>First came the traumatizing experience of a bomb hitting a nearby building a few days before the displacement, only some 50 meters from them. Thankfully no one in the family was physically hurt, the only death came with the microphone in Reham's telephone ceasing to work.
</div>

<div>A couple of days later the family had to flee from the small room they had rented and started decorating with some of the necessities - mattresses, blankets and pillows; carpets for the floor to take away the chill from raw concrete and some structure started for washing, cooking and other necessary tasks in the household.
</div>

<div>During the short time they had available before they must run, they could only grab a few items to go with them. Eventually they ended up by the sea, similar to how they lived while in Rafah. They are back in the white plastic tent that is the hallmark of the displaced population (actually, the majority of the 2 million Palestinians in Gaza are displaced from their homes). As you can see they managed to bring some blankets and pillows to arrange a very makeshift bed and a few clothes items.

<div>The real tragedy of this displacement though, is that they were unable to bring any of the stored food with them. Food bought with excessive money and not in any large amounts. But some food in storage is infinitely better than none - which is the family's current situation.

<div>With no external supplies having entered Gaza since the beginning of March 2025, and a lot of the farmland inside the walls has been destroyed, hunger and thirst among the population is a daily occurrence. At the time of writing, end of May 2025, starvation is a very real consequence, especially among the children, but adults are affected too.

<div>The family is when I'm writing this, starved and very, very thirsty. This fundraiser is meant to raise money ongoing, to transfer to the family and allow them a bit of a chance to replace the lost pantry items and get something to eat, at least enough to not go into starvation.
