Marquez is receiving rehabilitation daily and on the mend he still has multiple dr visits to attend but his recovery is going well he still requires assistance and cannot walk due to limitations and still doesn’t have full use of his upper extremities but overall he’s improving . Help Marquez Barker Recover After a Devastating E-Bike Accident Our family is asking for your prayers, support, and generosity for Marquez Barker, a twenty-nine-year-old young man whose life changed in an instant after a devastating accident. About a week ago, Marquez was on his way home from work riding his e-bike when he was struck by a vehicle. Marquez was simply doing what he worked hard to do every day—going to work, being productive, and building an independent life for himself. The accident left him with multiple serious injuries, including: A broken femur A severe left shoulder injury requiring surgery A forearm injury requiring surgery Serious injuries to both hands Thumb injuries requiring surgery on both sides A fractured sternum Because of the extent of his injuries, Marquez currently cannot perform basic daily activities on his own. He cannot feed himself, bathe himself, or care for his personal needs without assistance. He is currently completely dependent on nursing and caregiving support while he begins the long road toward recovery. Marquez is also an autistic young man who has worked hard to live as independently as possible. He was gainfully employed and committed to working and taking care of himself. This accident was completely unexpected and has suddenly taken away his ability to work and function independently. His recovery will be a long and difficult journey. He will need multiple surgeries, medical care, rehabilitation, equipment, transportation, and ongoing assistance with everyday activities. There are also expenses and financial responsibilities that don't stop simply because someone is injured. We are asking for your help to give Marquez the opportunity to focus on healing and regaining his independence without the additional burden of worrying about how these unexpected expenses will be covered.
