im abdalarahim , Asmaa's friend , whose contact information is available on the campaign site, have created the campaign on behalf of Asmaa due to her inability to do so.

here is asmaa story :

Deep in the heart of Gaza, the life of Asmaa, a strong and resilient woman, sways amidst harsh conditions. Asmaa, aged 52, carries the burden of life with courage and determination, amidst endless crises and wars that ravage hope and stability.

Asmaa, a survivor of many conflicts, now faces a new test as she confronts threats of forced displacement from her home in Rafah, southern Gaza, due to the military escalation engulfing the region. Alone, far from her loved ones, Asmaa struggles with her chronic illness and absolute solitude, while tensions escalate and Gaza plunges into a cycle of violence and threat.

Asmaa is one among many living in conflict zones, trapped between the walls of siege and harsh living conditions. She does not have the luxury to escape easily, facing multiple challenges amidst shortages of food, water, and medical supplies.

But now, in this critical moment, we come together as a community to support Asmaa. We are here to lend a helping hand and alleviate her suffering. We aim to provide the necessary financial support to evacuate her from Gaza to Egypt, where she can access the necessary healthcare and safety.

Our goal is clear: to raise funds of up to $5000 to enable Asmaa to safely leave her perilous surroundings and ensure the necessary care for her amidst the challenging circumstances she faces.

With our big hearts and human spirit, we can change Asmaa's fate and help her survive. Let us be part of the beautiful story of giving and solidarity, offering Asmaa the hope and assistance she desperately needs in this crucial moment of her life.

As part of this campaign, we express our deep gratitude to everyone who contributes in any way. Let us make a difference together and leave a positive mark in Asmaa's life and the lives of others facing similar challenges.

Let us extend a helping hand, let us be a beacon of hope in a world that needs more love, understanding, and solidarity.

help asmaa to survive in Gaza

Our neighborhoods, a family of 7 living in NE Portland home burned down today.

They lost everything -- all their belongings, clothing, furniture, etc. They have no place to sleep tonight. Were setting a goal of $10,000 to get them back on their feet, starting with finding them a new house to rent..

Please share to support this family and help them to start over.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

#BlackLivesMatter #WeDoHeal

In the wake of George Floyd's murder is a long, painful month that’s an extension of a year that’s challenged us to our core.

We need healing. We need justice. And that requires action.

Systemic change requires prolonged effort, but we can also make an immediate difference for frontline communities.

The Black Resilience Fund was launched on June 1st, 2020 to foster healing and resilience by providing immediate financial relief to Black Portlanders. Over $700,000 has been distributed to Black Portlanders since our launch, and we've also established a mutual aid network of over 300 active volunteers, delivering food boxes, performing yard work, providing emotional support, and more.

The Black Resilience Fund is co-founded by Cameron Whitten and Salomé Chimuku. Cameron is a local Portlander who has more than 5 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and donation accountability. Cameron has served as the Executive Director of local nonprofits such as Know Your City, Brown Hope, and Q Center. Salomé has over a decade of experience in public sector work, working with organizations such as Portland State University, the Urban League of Portland, and Unite Oregon. She has served on many local social justice and advocacy boards and has worked for many statewide elected officials in the Oregon Legislature.

We’re proud of everything the BRF team has accomplished with 100% volunteer energy. Through passion, grit, and collaboration, we’ve established a solid infrastructure that can benefit our entire community over the long term.

In order to make this lasting impact, we know we’ll need stable leadership that we can’t attain with volunteer time alone. Thus, we will begin encouraging folks to donate to Brown Hope, the nonprofit that is sponsoring the Black Resilience Fund. A portion of all new donations made to Brown Hope for the BRF will be dedicated to the Black Resilient Futures Fund, with a goal of bringing paid staff to help sustain the work.

We will continue to keep our GoFundMe campaign live as it’s linked to several newspaper articles and websites, and is a great way to communicate with the 13,000 people who have donated so far.

You can make a tax-deductible donation to the Black Resilience Fund through Brown Hope, here: https://secure.givelively.org/donate/brown-hope/black-resilience-fund

You can also donate via check: write a check to BROWN HOPE and mail to 2037 N Williams Ave, Portland, OR 97227. Write BRF in the memo to designate to the Black Resilience Fund.

If you would like to volunteer, please use this sign up form: https://forms.gle/6x7mnbw9FMsz7paQA

The funding report will be updated every other day.

#BlackLivesMatter #WeDoHeal

On September 6 2018, Josh woke up to pain in his back, and within an hour couldn't move from the waist down. Nine days later he was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder called Transverse Myelitis. We're not sure why, but his immune system attacked his spinal cord and caused severe nerve damage. He spent 23 days in the hospital.

The best treatment at this point is something called Activity-Based Restorative Therapy (ABRT). This is a form of physical therapy pioneered by the Christopher Reeves Foundation. It uses weight-bearing moving and electrical stimulation of muscles to help retrain the nervous system.

Kennedy Krieger's International Center for Spinal Cord Injury in Baltimore is a world-renowned PT center and fully equipped in ABRT. They believe that Josh is an ideal candidate for ABRT, and he has been scheduled to for there for three weeks beginning February 25.

Here's a video showing what ABRT looks like at KKI:

Here's a video showing the aqua therapy center at KKI:

He'll be gone for a 3-week "Boot Camp" working 6 days a week for 3-4 hours per day in therapy. After the initial three weeks, Josh will most likely need to travel to Baltimore every 6 months for 1-2 week refreshers for the next few years.

While in therapy, Josh and his wife Karlene will need to live in Baltimore. Unfortunately, given accessibility needs, housing will be extra expensive - as most inexpensive housing options are not wheelchair accessible, and have steps (which Josh can't quite do yet).

Funds raised will help pay for medical and travel costs incurred as a part of Josh's recovery, and to help support their family with any loss of income that may be necessary due to their absence at home.

The first year is the most important year for nerve regeneration and healing. It is important that Josh do everything he can to gain as much mobility and ambulation back after this terrible event. Having you all join him in his recovery is an incredible gift and he is so thankful that you would consider supporting his family during this time.

Many of you have asked how you can be of assistance to The Jones at this painful time. Here is a love offering to help them with travel costs, funeral accommodations, food, and time together.

Debbie's very existence was, and is, an extravagant love offering. We have lost a heaven and earth Mother. Enjoy the journey.

All gathered funds will go to Andrew, Samuel, Elizabeth, Abigail, Hannah, & Tamara Jones.

https://youtu.be/_VD0EK_GlrE
