Hi, my name Is Amy, I’m just one of the heartbroken parents at Wellgate Primary School.
Here’s the story of why we’re fundraising.
Recently, our children’s school’s Wild Wood was vandalised.
For some, it might look like damage to a few bits of wood and equipment.
But for the children who use this space every day, it is so much more than that.
The Wild Wood is a huge part of their childhood.
It is where they get muddy. Where they build dens, explore, discover things, make things, climb, run, imagine and laugh with their friends.
It is where children can learn in a completely different setting away from sitting behind a desk.
For some children, it is the place where they come alive.
Where the child who struggles to sit still in a classroom can suddenly spend time completely absorbed in building something.
Where the child who finds the noise and demands of a classroom overwhelming can breathe.
Where friendships are made, confidence grows and independence is quietly built, one muddy adventure at a time.
That’s what was damaged.
Not just wood.
Not just equipment.
A little piece of the childhood our children deserve.
The school is doing everything it can to repair the damage, but we don’t want to simply put everything back and hope it doesn’t happen again.
We want to protect the Wild Wood properly.
Our biggest priority is raising enough money to install a secure fence around the Wild Wood, helping to protect it from further vandalism and ensuring that this special space remains there for the children who love it - now and for the children who will discover it in years to come.
And this is where we need our community. ❤️
Whatever you can give, no matter how small, will mean so much. Please share with businesses & work places.
Every donation will take us one step closer to putting that fence around the Wild Wood and making sure our children can continue to enjoy this very special place safely.
And if you can’t donate, please share the fundraiser. ❤️
Because this isn’t really about buying a fence.
It’s about making sure our children don’t lose somewhere that means so much to them because of someone else’s actions.
It’s about saying:
You don’t get to take this away from our children.
Because when something precious to our children is damaged, we don’t shrug our shoulders.
We rebuild it.
We protect it.
We stand together.
And most importantly, we show the people who did this that our community is stronger than their stupidity.
Let’s give our children their Wild Wood back.
Let’s make it safe enough that they’ll still be making muddy memories there for years to come.
Thank you so much
love
All the children, the parents & friends of Wellgate Primary School
If, through the incredible generosity of our community, we raise more than is needed for the new fence, every penny raised beyond the cost of the fencing will be donated directly to Wellgate Primary School.
This will allow the school to put those funds towards creating even more wonderful educational opportunities, experiences and events for our children.
