Hello, my name is Jacinta Phillips, and I am the proud mother of 16-year-old Cooper Thompson. I am reaching out to share an incredible opportunity that has come Cooper's way: he has been offered a position in the Full-Time UK Academy squad for 2025 with Sunshine Coast FC Fire. This is a monumental achievement and the culmination of years of dedication and hard work.

Cooper's journey in sports began at the age of five, starting with basketball, which he still enjoys. His passion soon shifted to football (soccer), where he began playing at age eight. He quickly demonstrated exceptional talent, moving up through the ranks to play on the u9’s team and continuing to excel. Despite a setback at the u13 level due to a challenging coaching experience, Cooper’s love for the game was reignited when he joined a supportive local club, leading to an outstanding season with the u15’s team.

Our family’s decision to move to the Sunshine Coast opened new doors for Cooper. He joined Coolum Football Club, where he played in the u16's team, helping them win the Division 2 Grand Final. Under the guidance of a passionate new coach, Cooper pushed himself further by playing in the u23's and Men's Prems teams, and achieved remarkable growth in his game, leading to his current opportunity.

This journey has not been easy, and Cooper has committed countless hours to training, including daily gym sessions. His dream of playing football professionally is within reach, but we need your support to make it happen. The funds raised will help cover the costs of Cooper's training at the academy in Bishop's Castle, where he will also complete his Year 12 studies through distance education. Not only will he be competing with teams such as Arsenal, Manchester United, South Hampton, Everton, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, but he will also celebrate his 18th birthday overseas—a truly life-changing experience.

The total cost, excluding flights, is $45,000. We are hopeful to raise as much as possible to support Cooper’s dream, and any contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference.

We deeply appreciate your kindness and support in helping Cooper take this next step in his football career.

Thank you for believing in him!

With gratitude and love,

Jacinta, Cooper, and Family

Help Cooper chase his Football dream!

We are reaching out to you with heavy hearts and a deep sense of urgency, seeking your support for a cause that has profoundly impacted the Holden family.

On Boxing Day evening, tragedy struck when an annual men's fishing boating day out went terribly wrong, leaving Rob Holden, a doting husband, and father of three, taken from us at the tender age of 48.

The sudden and unexpected capsizing of the 39-foot vessel in wild wind gusts and a fierce storm took the lives of three of the eleven men on board, including Rob.

Broken and scattered calls and SMSs made by Rob to his wife and daughter from under the upturned vessel sparked the emergency call to the Marine Rescue, resulting in the quick response and rescue of his mates.

Devastatingly Rob was unable to be recovered alive from the stricken vessel.

Friends and family remember Rob as an exceptionally caring and attentive husband and father, always putting his family first. A true gentleman, he dedicated his life to supporting friends and those in need, embodying the spirit of charity. Rob's ongoing project, providing water filtering bags to third-world countries, reflects his commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.

This tragic event has sent shockwaves of heartache and pain through Rob's family, particularly affecting his wife of over 20 years, Michelle. The financial burden she now faces is overwhelming, as Rob was the main provider and managed all aspects of the family's finances.

At the time of the accident, Rob was embarking on a new business venture, following the insolvency of his previous employer, leaving a significant financial void on the family. Mortgage payments, rates, and other financial obligations are in arrears, compounding the challenges Michelle is currently confronting.

To alleviate the immediate financial stress and allow Michelle the space to support her family during this difficult time, we are initiating a fundraising campaign on a 'Go Fund Me' page titled "Moreton Bay Boxing Day Tragedy, Family in Crisis" The funds raised will contribute towards funeral expenses, mortgage payments, and other pressing financial obligations. Any additional support will be allocated to grief counselling for Michelle and her family.

We kindly request your support in this Endeavor. Even the smallest donation can make a significant difference during this challenging period. Your generosity will not only ease the financial burden on Michelle but also provide her with the opportunity to focus on healing and supporting her family through these trying times.

You can contribute directly here, and please feel free to share this campaign with others who may wish to extend their support.

With heartfelt gratitude,

On behalf of Sandy, friends and family

Moreton Bay Boxing Day Tragedy, Family in Crisis

On Friday, 14 November, our family’s world changed forever.

Ray Nicol — beloved partner of 32 years, father figure, brother-in-law, and friend to so many — was tragically killed in a hit-and-run on the Esplanade at Point Vernon. Despite every effort from first responders and medical teams, Ray passed away from his injuries.

Ray was the centre of Fiona's life for more than three decades. They built their entire adult lives together. His loss is sudden, traumatic, and has left her devastated, heartbroken, and facing an uncertain future. His sudden death leaves a massive emotional void for Fiona, and serious financial strain. Funds raised will go directly toward:

Immediate living expenses while Fiona grieves and stabilises

Any additional support Fiona needs in the coming months

About Ray

Ray was deeply loved — not just by Fiona, but by his wider community: he was a well-known lifeguard and a swim coach, working at both the Hervey Bay and Maryborough aquatic centres. Ray also spent countless hours with the Maryborough/Howard Obedience Club, unlocking better communication, trust, and teamwork between owners and their dogs. He was a steady presence at training days, always ready with guidance, encouragement, and a gentle word.

Ray was one of those people who would give you the shirt off his back.

He deserved so much more than to have his life taken this way. Our family is determined to honour him properly and ensure my sister is not alone in picking up the pieces.

How you can help

If you’re able to donate — even a small amount — it would mean more than words can express. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page to help us reach others who knew and loved Ray.

Fiona has lost her partner of 32 years, and this support will help her carry on in a way that honours Ray’s memory and gives her some stability in a very uncertain time.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being here for her — for us — during this unimaginable loss.

Donating in the memory of Ray Nicol and support Fiona
