HELP ILÍDIO PEREIRA DE OLIVEIRA FIGHT STOMACH CANCER My name is Jairson De Pina, and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Ilídio Pereira de Oliveira, a devoted man of faith, a loving member of his family, and an active servant in his church and community. Today, we are asking for your kindness and support to help Ilídio Pereira de Oliveira, a man who is facing one of the greatest battles of his life. Ilídio is a man of faith, known for his dedication and service to his church and community. Throughout his life, he has always been willing to help those in need, serving with love, humility, and hope. Today, however, he is the one who needs our help, our prayers, and our solidarity. About 10 months ago, Ilídio was diagnosed with stomach cancer (a gastric tumor). Since then, his life has been filled with medical appointments, examinations, hospital admissions, and constant suffering. He lives in the interior of Santiago Island, Cape Verde, and must travel to the city of Praia two to three times every week for medical appointments and follow-up care. These frequent trips place a tremendous physical, emotional, and financial burden on both him and his family. In addition to battling cancer, Ilídio faces another major challenge: the lack of essential medication. On several occasions, the medicines prescribed by his doctors have not been available in Cape Verde, forcing him to rely on the generosity of friends and family in Portugal to obtain part of his treatment. In recent days, his condition worsened, and he had to be hospitalized once again. During this difficult period, he became extremely weak, temporarily lost his ability to speak, and suffered severe physical deterioration. He is now back home, but he remains very weak and continues to need constant care. Unfortunately, Cape Verde does not have the specialized treatment needed to fight this type of cancer. At the moment, he is only receiving medical follow-up care, which is not enough to provide the best chance of recovery. For this reason, Ilídio's hope is to be medically transferred to Dakar, Senegal, where he can receive the specialized treatment he urgently needs. However, the costs of medical evacuation, transportation, treatment, medication, accommodation, and daily living expenses are far beyond what his family can afford. That is why we are reaching out to everyone for help. Every donation, no matter how small, can make a difference. Desde então, sua rotina passou a ser marcada por consultas, exames, internações e muito sofrimento. Morador do interior da Ilha de Santiago, em Cabo Verde, Ilídio precisa deslocar-se até a cidade da Praia duas a três vezes por semana para consultas e acompanhamento médico. Essas viagens constantes representam um enorme desgaste físico, emocional e financeiro para ele e sua família. Além da doença, ele enfrenta outro grande desafio: a falta de medicamentos essenciais. Em diversas ocasiões, os remédios prescritos pelos médicos não estavam disponíveis nas farmácias de Cabo Verde, sendo necessário recorrer à ajuda de amigos e familiares em Portugal para conseguir parte da medicação. Nos últimos dias, seu estado de saúde agravou-se, levando-o novamente ao hospital. Durante esse período, ficou muito debilitado, perdeu temporariamente a fala e apresentou um estado de grande fraqueza. Hoje encontra-se em casa, mas continua muito debilitado e necessitando de cuidados constantes. Infelizmente, em Cabo Verde não existe tratamento especializado capaz de combater este tipo de câncer. O que ele recebe atualmente é apenas acompanhamento médico, o que não é suficiente para oferecer as melhores possibilidades de recuperação. Por isso, a esperança de Ilídio é conseguir ser evacuado para Dakar, no Senegal, onde poderá receber tratamento especializado. No entanto, os custos da evacuação, transporte, tratamento, medicamentos, alimentação e estadia são elevados e estão muito além das condições financeiras da família. É por isso que recorremos à solidariedade de cada pessoa. Qualquer contribuição, por menor que seja, fará diferença.
