After bringing her to the vet, we found out she is severely anemic and in critical condition. Her red blood cell levels were dangerously low, and she required immediate care, including a blood transfusion and hospitalization.

<div>My sister, Allison Sutterfield, is the most giving person you could ever meet. She is always the first to show up for her family and friends, always willing to help others without expecting anything in return. Now, she needs us.

<div>Her beloved cat, Charlie, has become critically ill. Over the past several weeks, Charlie has been rapidly losing weight and refusing to eat. Allison has taken him to the vet multiple times, doing everything she can to get answers and help him recover, already spending hundreds of dollars trying to save him.

<div>Today, Charlie’s condition worsened significantly during a follow-up visit for an ultrasound. Repeat bloodwork showed that his hemoglobin levels were dangerously abnormal, and he was immediately admitted for emergency treatment.

<div>At this time, veterinarians believe Charlie may be battling either lymphoma or Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA). He is currently undergoing testing and treatment as the veterinary team works to stabilize him and determine the best path forward.

<div>Last week, the unthinkable happened when <strong>The Cook/Jodar’s family home went up in flames.</strong> Due to some quick maneuvering and literally pulling family members out of their beds, almost everyone made it out safely, but heartbreakingly their beloved family dog did not. They not only lost their dog and home but every personal belonging, memory, and essential item they owned.

<div>Right now, the family has no home to return to. They are staying with immediate family while they try to rebuild their lives from scratch. They need help securing basic items such as beds, clothing, and furniture to make temporary living spaces safe and comfortable. With their vehicles and work equipment damaged or destroyed, they also urgently need support for transportation to and from work and help replacing the essential tools they rely on to earn a living.

<div>Among the most urgent challenges is care for the family’s grandfather, who requires dialysis four times a week. All of his at-home medical equipment was lost in the fire. Until his equipment can be replaced, <strong>he needs transportation to and from dialysis.</strong>

<div>The Jodar family has always been so very welcoming; they have adopted my girls and treated them like their own. They are always the first to help and helped so very much when I was going through my cancer diagnosis. Now they are the ones that need help and a community behind them.

Help the Jodar and Cook Family REBUILD

<div>A little backstory: On February 24th, my sister-in-law went into labor. While she was in labor her 18 month old daughter Lilah had a seizure while at home. She was rushed to the hospital where they did a scan and found a mass on her brain. Later that day she was transferred to a children’s hospital for an MRI where they found out that the mass was a stage 4 tumor. On March 3rd, Lilah had brain surgery to remove the tumor, which the surgery was very successful! The whole tumor was removed and Lilah is recovering very well, you would have never known that she had brain surgery!

<div>Later in the week they found out that Lilah has been diagnosed with a very rare aggressive form of brain cancer. There were only 58 documented cases in the U.S. last year. She will be admitted to the hospital and she will have 3 months of chemo and 3 months of stem cell treatment. They will be living at the hospital for 4 weeks at a time while she is getting her treatments.
