Ever since I got my camera, photography has become a huge part of my life. Capturing moments and telling stories through images has brought me so much joy and inspiration. Now, I want to take my passion a step further by traveling to Prague to attend a photography class. This opportunity will help me gain new skills, experience a different culture, and push my creativity to new heights.

I am excited to share that I have the opportunity to study abroad in Japan, and I am reaching out for support to help make this dream a reality. This program will allow me to immerse myself in the Japanese language and culture, which is something I have always aspired to do. Support My Dream of Studying Film in South Korea !

Hello, my name is Luis. I was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, and I have always been proud to call this city my home.

On February 25th, while on our way to work, my partner Oscar was taken by ICE. Oscar has no criminal record, no order of deportation, and no pending court dates or legal proceedings. He has lived here for 24 years and knows nothing about his country of birth. His entire family, friends, and loved ones are here in Charlotte.

I believe in keeping our community safe, but I also believe in compassion and human dignity. Oscar deserves the opportunity to fight his case fairly and properly.

As many of you know, immigration legal fees are extremely expensive, along with the additional costs that come with this process. It is very hard for me to ask, but I am asking our community to please come together and help us bring Oscar back home so he can await justice the right way.

Any donation, no matter how small, truly helps and means more than words can express. We are doing everything in our power to bring him home safely.

Our hard working and brilliant friend Cat just suffered the devastating total loss of her home and belongings in the Marshall fire here in Colorado. With only moments to spare, Cat barely escaped the flames and was unable to take anything with her.

<div>Yesterday some friends drove through the neighborhood in Louisville, where Cat lived, and witnessed the total devastation where her home burned to the ground. Cat and her daughter have lost absolutely everything; clothing, furniture, kitchen and personal belongings, sentimental items…their entire home. Your tremendous outpouring of support and kind letters have made it possible for us to cope with the immeasurable stress, particularly the disruption to our safety and privacy. Because of your support, I feel hopeful that our lives will return to normal.<br /><br />The funds you have sent through GoFundMe have been a godsend. Your donations have allowed us to take reasonable steps to protect ourselves against frightening threats, including physical protection and security for me and my family, and to enhance the security for our home. We used your generous contributions to pay for a security service, which began on September 19 and has recently begun to taper off; a home security system; housing and security costs incurred in Washington DC, and local housing for part of the time we have been displaced. Part of the time we have been able to stay with our security team in a residence generously loaned to us.<br /><br />With immense gratitude, I am closing this account to further contributions. All funds unused after completion of security expenditures will be donated to organizations that support trauma survivors. I am currently researching organizations where the funds can best be used. Help Christine Blasey Ford

On the night of March 6, 2018 our dear friend Mohammad Fawad Mohammadi was the victim of an unspeakable crime. He and his family were in Lincoln City, Oregon, when they were involved in what seemed to be a relatively minor traffic accident: another car collided with theirs as they exited a restaurant parking lot. When Fawad and his wife stepped out of the car to investigate the damage, the other driver backed up then accelerated toward them. Fawad was able to push his wife to safety, but bore the entire force of the crash with his own body. Inexplicably and without warning, the driver backed up and drove at him again. This time Fawad was able to roll his body out of the way and call to his wife to get their baby out of the car and run. <br /><br /> Fawad had to be taken by Life Flight to a trauma center in Portland. He underwent surgery immediately in an attempt to repair his leg which was severely crushed. Currently it appears that he is suffering from the crushed leg, broken hips, fractured spine and numerous facial injuries. At this writing he is undergoing a second surgery to save the leg. The doctors have prepared him for the high likelihood that the surgery will not be successful.<br /><br /> Fawad came to the U.S. a little over three years ago from his native Afghanistan, where he served as an interpreter for the U.S. Military for four years, often in the thick of battle. He made a lasting impression and was sponsored to come to the U.S. Shortly after he arrived he began working in the Lambs/Bales Marketplaces. He married and he and his wife were blessed with a lovely baby boy, who is now 18 months old. He is the sole breadwinner while his wife has remained at home caring for their son. He is still employed in the Deli/Catering department of the Lake Oswego Lambs/Bales Marketplace where he has been an extremely diligent and capable worker and is loved by all. In fact, Fawad is loved by everyone he meets. He always has a smile and exudes joy. He loves to share meals, music and dancing with friends. We are devastated that he has fought so hard to raise his family in a safe, happy place, only to have their lives changed instantly in such a brutal way.<br /><br /> Fawad’s life and the life of his family has forever been changed. The road to recovery is going to be a long hard battle, and we are seeking funds to support Fawad in this battle in any way that can reduce the suffering and damage visited on his family in this horrible and tragic way.

This Family Needs Our Help

A few days ago (late September 2016), Petra Vicente and Paco González were murdered in Teotitlan del Valle, Oaxaca.  These people were like family to Professor Lynn Stephen of the University of Oregon; they were godparents to her sons.  <br /><br />As Zapotec natural dye specialists, this wonderful mother and son have received NEH Summer Scholars into their home in 2010, 2011, 2014, and 2015 as a part of recurring summer institutes held in Oaxaca under the leadership of Stephanie Wood.  They kindly shared their cultural knowledge, showed us beautiful dyeing, spinning, and weaving techniques, fed us delicious meals, and took us on visits to their milpa.  They also extended their friendship in so many ways, giving us gifts of chocolate and handwoven purses, rides to the airport, and much more. <br /><br />The murder has yet to be solved, but, meanwhile, the family is hard pressed to cover the funeral expenses.  If you can make a donation, and make it soon, it would be such a kindness.  Many, many thanks for considering this.

Terence Crutcher Memorial Fund

UPDATED 4/17/2014: Verity began experiencing symptoms of her illness over four years ago. Previously, Verity was healthy, active, an involved college student and scholarship-recipient, closing in on a long-desired degree in filmmaking. Following a period of unpredictable and disabling symptoms, she had to withdraw from college. Now Verity has tested positive for Lyme as well as chronic viral infections. She and her partner Kevin have been fighting for her health, but, when finances are already exhausted, this treatment is anticipated to cost $10,000-$20,000 a year for two years or longer. Meanwhile, she is unable to work or contribute to her household reliably. Further, her expectation of a strong recovery depends on starting this treatment as soon as possible."<br />Original post 12/24/12: My partner Verity has chronic digestive problems that began 3 years ago this coming May. She is a caring, intelligent, charismatic and loving person whose illness has prevented her from working, going to school and finishing her degree, as well as carrying on a normal, healthy life. Throughout her illness, I have been supporting both of us on my solitary income and savings, which in turn has now depleted my savings of $10,000. Month to month, as we face our monthly bills, rent and general expenses, it has become apparent that my income will not be sufficient enough to cover the medical treatment, tests, doctor's appointments, supplies and healthy food necessary to get Verity on the fast track to recovery. <br /><br /><br />Verity has always been the type of person who gives back to the community even when she has very little to offer. She is a caring, intelligent, charismatic and loving person whose illness has prevented her from working, attending college to finish her degree, and living a normal, healthy life. Bruton High Class of 1989:<br /><br />Most of you have heard the sad news that we lost one of our finest this week: Pamela Smith Hall. There are few who walked the halls of Bruton High School in the late 1980’s that were not touched by Pam’s wit, kindness or crazy sense of humor. Many of us bumped into her at the 2009 reunion to find her in possession of the same wonderful personality we remembered her for. Her unexpected passing leaves behind a bevy of friends and family,  including her two daughters Taylor and Bailey.<br /><br />This page was created to help her family with the costs of final arrangements.
