James was a loving husband, step-dad, and friend who touched the lives of everyone around him. After a serious fall that broke two ribs and punctured his lungs, he spent over a month in the hospital fighting to recover. He was finally released on Monday night, and we were hopeful for his continued healing. Tragically, just 19 hours later, James passed away unexpectedly, leaving our family heartbroken and unprepared for this loss.

 My mom, who is on disability and has a fixed income, is now facing the overwhelming challenge of covering funeral expenses. The only option offered so far is a county burial, which would mean an unmarked grave for a man who meant so much to so many. This feels deeply unfair and sad, especially because James had recently overcome so much in his life. He fought hard against his demons, rededicated his life to God, and was truly turning things around. He deserved so much more.
