On the night of Sunday, September 1, 2025, and again just two days later, eastern Afghanistan was struck by two devastating earthquakes—first a magnitude 6.0, then a 5.5-5.2 aftershock. These catastrophic events have already claimed more than 2,200 lives, injured over 4,000 people, and razed thousands of homes in rural provinces like Kunar, Nangarhar, and Laghman. Families remain trapped, injured, or homeless—scrambling for safety amid landslides and inaccessible roads. Rescue teams are racing against time to deliver medicine, clean water, shelter, and food—but the need is overwhelming.
